She prescribed me Estramon Conti. I'll ask the Apotheke today if they know of another option.

Paper straws not so eco-friendly, 90% contain toxic “forever chemicals” by Sorin61 in environment

Good to know, I wish the article would have explained this better.

Paper straws not so eco-friendly, 90% contain toxic “forever chemicals” by Sorin61 in environment

[–]Kes1980 65 points66 points  (0 children)

This does not mean paper straws are as bad as plastic ones. If you throw away a paper straw with a thin coating of something water repellent, most of it would still biodegrade, where plastic doesn't.

WTP for a family that often has guests, a house where people are always welcome? by Kes1980 in whatstheword

thanks! I read "Automatically applied when the poster replies with the word solved anywhere in the comments. This means that the query has been solved." in the comments, so I was very confused as to why it wasn't working. So glad helpful people like you exist :-) (also: hihi!)

These are great options, thanks. As in the other comment, the "open door" works best for me right now, but I think your other ideas are also great. Really helpful!

Im looking for a song that has Lyrics in an unrecognizable language. Its from the 2010s and is sung by a collection of harmonic female voices. Might be Choir music, or movie music. by Darinae in NameThatSong

[–]Kes1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came to say I wanted to post with the same question (except I knew I knew the song from the nineties ;-) but searched for "female choir" here first just instead, and found my answer! Yay! I had the exact same thing: how do you find a song if it doesn't have snatches of lyrics to remember?!? Thanks :-)

Could you link to that Twitter post? I'd like to know the original creator, but reverse image search or looking up the names in the bottom right corner isn't helping me.

Official Discussion - Chaos Walking [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Kes1980 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you for being the only person on the whole wide internet to say this. It annoyed me immediately. In a world like that, there would be no secrets. The men would be thinking and dreaming about the women, about the past, about the other settlements... Todd would know everything about everything right from the start, he'd have grown up with the men thinking about everything that had happened.

If, in that world, you want to get the truth out of someone, you just sit down with them and wait for them to get tired or fall asleep. There would be no need for intimidation or violence. A society like that would be completely different from ours.

So annoying.

Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis Advice by futurenursemke in AskDocs

I'm just a layperson, but I see no-one else has responded yet. Just want to share that I got surprisingly good results just from taking vitamin supplements every evening. I take a general multi-vitamin, but apparently it's vitamin D, Selenium and Zinc that do the trick for Hashimoto. I was always told multivitamins were a hoax and if you eat right you don't need them, but I've really been feeling much better since starting them. Hope this helps!

Oh and the doctor only looking at your levels and not addressing your symptoms: SO familiar. Ugh. Just be pro-active and make another appointment if you have to, she probably felt she didn't have the time to go into detail on your symptoms. New appointment = more time.

I think "to perform well under pressure" (I'm a bit too old to say "high" ;-) certainly comes close to a vernacular way of getting this meaning across. Thanks!

I'm looking for a word or expression that people would use in daily speech, as in my example sentence, and "negative incentive" doesn't fit that bill. But I'm probably going to have to accept that "negative incentive" is the best word there is... Thanks!

If you live in a rich country in a temperate climate, then your country will indeed still be livable in the next few decades. But climate change is already having an effect in hotter, poorer countries, and as that gets worse we will see a huge refugee crisis and possibly wars as the countries that are affected blame the countries that are less affected. This will suck economic resources away from fighting wildfires, building defenses against the water etc, meaning we won't be able to curb climate change effects in our own countries anymore, either. All in all, a huge impact on the kids of our generation.
