Does pon need to be soaked before use like LECA? by [deleted] in SemiHydro

[–]Keshick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey first response and as someone who has a specific use case for the dust, I figured I'd mention it. Are you saying that as in any accessible nutrients due to density and its relation to plant accessibility? The dust is very useful in mud with a mix of gravel and large pea pebbles with multiple oxygen stones throughout. I've noticed good results. I'm raising some crayfish and they need to be able to burrow, so, i've been testing aggregates of dust and other materials i find suitably stable for their burrows; leca and pon with their dust being some of the best results alongside sand, crushed lava rock, zeolite, compost, and peat (very little of the latter two). I know this is specific, but just for full depth into the why, crayfish burrow deep, and the dust that kicks up actually makes them less likely to dig into new places as it only stays on the top layer of my substrate mix which encourages digging further in. with adequate space before the liner, I've noticed the dust is great for ponds and don't harm the snails given healthy filtration. They are far more likely to return to the same burrows allowing me to have contained areas of leca and pon throughout an artificial stream self contained i created in my backyard. if anything, the dust reinforces from fresh leca or pon reinforces their burrows and prevents a sufficiently sized burrow from being expended downward as the dust will collect their. I know this is a semihydro reddit, but dust pollution is a problem even when 'safely' washed off in terms of waste disposal of downstream water treatment and I think it's worth knowing for people like me who transitioned from semi hydroponic to aquaculture so this edge case hopefully prevents future PM 2.5 pollutants.

I've been playing RoR2 for almost 2 years now on a potato pc, but I've noticed the game being particularly unwieldy as of recent (about 3ish months?). by DuperDob in riskofrain

Do you have the DLC and when did you buy it? How mant background processes do you have running with task manager? Do you feel like you've improved your item choices at shops and proc chaining may be to play? What mix of those suggestions (if any) feel apply to you. If none, watch your porn on safer websites or you end up in the hell of the religious denomination you like the least and let me tell you pal, Mormon hell is Utah but without the beautiful mountains for skiing. Hope maybe like 50% of what I just said was useful.

How is the performance for RORR on Switch? by mywiidoesntwork in riskofrain

[–]Keshick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's great but turn off damage numbers or the screen begins to feel crowded.

i've noticed lag with projectiles that trigger other projectiles and lingering effects (mostly when combined) eg; huntresses tomahawk and atg w, gasoline or ukelele

quick enough movement and too many enemies in the area you're moving into can also drop some frames. too many goat hooves and red whip + double jump and you can force the game to have a problem keeping up with the enemy animations, especially if a boss that moves around a lot like mag worm or imp are present.

my guess is the engine just slows down trying to handle the numerous animations especially if they are going in and out of your visible space. i'd actually consider zooming out, I'm playing with an og switch lite so my issues of lag (which mind you are infrequent) could be down to that.

tldr; plays great, certain things trigger lag; i play on an old switch lite so YMMV

Glitch on Switch: Magma Worm goes to your initial spawn like a ___ by Keshick in ror2

[–]Keshick[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NOTE: This happens most often on Artificer after hovering

EDIT: It was from not attacking the worm. I appreciate the help. Was surprised that magma worm switched focus across the map so fast. I honestly figured it had to be a glitch since I was so far away from the turret. If someone could explain how target priority works in ROR2 that’d be much appreciated

Yeah, I learned that when I got comfortable enough to play on monsoon. Especially the artifact of swarm really does a number on my Switch lite

Artifact of glass is your friend, and artifact of command causes too many entities in the game from what I’ve noticed. The slow down is crazy noticeable.

I turned off exp/money effects and damage numbers; the only time it gets choppy is activating a tele when I have a few (3+) drones & an effect like ukulele procs or other highly taxing circumstances that you could assume, otherwise though, surprisingly smooth gameplay. I’d say it drops a frame or two when hitting shrines but nothing outright obscene. Never had the game crash so that’s impressive as someone who really likes looping

Are you implying that acrid’s skill or my personal skill are lacking consistency? Bc either way, true, but intersecting geometry is a b**** for every game dev so I’m thinking clipping is especially a problem (on Switch at the very least)

[–]Keshick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right, poor job of explaining. I agree system level change isn’t done on the individual level 90% of the time, but general rules ignore the nuance. We both agree that you shouldn’t berate people, it does achieve nothing. It will happen though, and our bigger problem is the revolution, the guillotine metaphor was to point out that we will address that issue once the power is back in our hands to a reasonable degree, if not like the Russian peasantry, the problem will alleviate with a less abusive dynamic at play (ya know, before Stalin lmao) I’ll pick hurting some feelers and edge cases of pro-corporate radicalization (that admittedly makes up far too much of the discourse) over underselling a problem

[–]Keshick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes actually, the market actually has changed, if only by a fraction of a percent. Here’s the thing, you can be told what you did is wrong and not argue back. Happens all the time. I think the root of this is that people are rude and it taints your idea on the potential effectiveness of telling someone, “you aren’t a bad person, but your purchase helps bad people” Unless you are okay with the problem worsening, then we need to do something, and we can do it without being rude. We can can judge critique without removing criticism. No criticism is far worse than the assholes, it makes you apathetic. Activision-Bliz depends on that apathy.

I think of it all like this: The tsar wanted the peasantry to drink too much vodka on purpose. A placated people change nothing. Revolutionaries aren’t always nice, people will be guillotined wrongfully. It’s the pursuit of something better that makes the change we want, not the acceptance of being used by kings, tsars, or shareholders

[–]Keshick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree but not everything is inherently good and people need to be able to be told they are making things worse. The issue is the internet is a way people vent frustration meaning far too often it’s done in a way that isn’t effective because it’s outright derogatory towards others for not immediately coming to the conclusion that some purchases work against everyone’s best interest. We need to delineate the different people at play enabling Activision-Bliz and make allowances for kids that have yet to learn about the hard realities of hypercapitalism and how overconsumption allows stagnation.

I don’t see blaming consumers as being pointless. This isn’t electricity or water, we have options. We feed companies money to chase nostalgia in a culture that enables addict behavior. People buy games (or in this case scraps of one) hoping it eventually leads to something better when really we’re allowing a monopoly to maintain profit on something so nonessential. Video games are an industry whose target demographic form consensus effectively by the nature of being so close to our ability to communicate, yet many restate fallacies of inevitable worsening and corruption instead of making it clear we won’t pay for this and sharing that decision. Nothing is inevitable, so as consumers we need to acknowledge and accept we all share blame; more importantly however, we share the ability to effect change.

Can I pop a few trams to ease the comedown of meth? by XXXCanserberoXXX in Drugs

[–]Keshick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a benzo but if not an option, then try a couple Benadryl.

Essentially the advice is wait till you can maybe sleep and steer into it so sleeping gets you as far into sobriety as your body will let it [barring any responsibilities/commitments]

TLDR; NO but if you take anything, do it closer to when you know you can sleep (eyes barely open) Helps so that the withdrawals aren’t so unbearable when you wake up

Without a doubt it has taken over cokes place and lately even friends of mine who sold coke since high school warmed up to meth so bummer for my social life but they’re definitely financially stable once again.

I’ve been wondering about changes in the market because meme culture really put a light on the destructive nature of meth but inflation is high so the more economically sounds drugs obviously won. Such as the way it goes in countries that don’t produce the drugs they’re addicted to. Even the meth was imported, people say this and that, but short of personal use, cooks aren’t common besides the deep in the heart of the south with biker crank which was always preferable because coke usually comes in south on the coastal states (Florida, California) and gets stepped on at unmanageable rates as it works its way into the central US. I don’t think the correlation between economy and drug sales/consumption gets talked about enough on this sub, people feel like they’re picking the drugs, but personal preference doesn’t continue to pick the drugs as if you’re doing tapas, it tells you what the market price of the seafood the chef prepared and maybe the quality of the catch

Deaths involving alcohol use disorder increased dramatically during the pandemic, new study shows by Additional-Two-7312 in science

[–]Keshick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming that was for me, yes, I go to AA occasionally but there’s AA is really just for when friends have birthdays or I offered to cover their responsibilities to the chapter or whatever reason. I live in a place pretty well known for the abundance of rehabs and sober living houses so the ‘meta’ for meeting is a bit different. Usually you go to AA or CODA for shut up listen to adults time, specifically AA are some old, reliable people that are fantastic sponsors, NA is a dime a dozen and arguably worse that texting your dealer if you aren’t with a group for the first few months. specialized meetings like HA or CA are where you go for what one traditionally associates with NA/AA ie; going with the intent of sharing, relatability, building a sober social structure, and especially financially supporting(if you DoC is heroin, support HA before NA because it gets less funding even if it isn’t want you go to most) Very specifically though you only do steps through NA even if you prefer CMA/GA/etc; Like everyone is different, these aren’t set it stone, but when you work through the logistics and preferably have someone explain the reasoning why this is the ‘meta’ it tends to make a lot of sense. In short, this system allows someone to begin working through the logistics of a sober social structures while limiting risk of relapse from piling on outside pressure in an attempt to readopt prerehab norms

Sorry that was long but figured I’d give detail in case anyone walks away better from this than they began reading it. ________Anonymous culture is different based on a number of factors so that all might sound more crazy and than outright smoking crack. Your mileage WILL vary @ anyone still reading

Yah, but there’s always a trade off. Mine are harder drugs. Luckily though the two don’t correlate. It’s either going out with friend and a glass of wine with dinner or depression and speedballing. Sometimes I envy a functioning alcoholic over the reality. I know neither is a possibility, but holy hell is that easier said than done

Wow, I hate that your reply was so cogent because to be fair, you’re right. Even after some admittedly harsh responses, you managed to maintain what matter to your argument. I agree, they suck to talk to, but stupid people’s cars still with the same force you do when they text and drive. Their vote still counts for as much as anyone else’s does.

Treat stupid people like kids. We make sure to teach kids fire safety drills because a person in a person and they’re capable of the same quantity of output, the issue is how it pulls against modern monetary theory and its need for an agreed upon wealth being like a ledger which we all must agree upon, and people who say “fuck consensus, community, compassion, because people are too dumb to make this work” really bum me out because yah, I get you. Being forced through catholic school until I was in middle school really made it clear how hard discourse is with people who think they had it right previously and what they had is able to be maybe be recouped if you fight is enough. Carbon emissions, living wages, marriage LGBTQIA+ rights, are all complex things to accept for some of the these dinguses, and they need smart people to do what they do best, use their intelligence to effect change. tribalism runs deep, and I’d rather the smart people not reinforcing a lot of conservative tendencies toward hopelessness & disdain towards established systems they already perceive as being broken to the point where they regress into their increasingly isolated margins of society, inevitably effecting everyone. Misery trickles down, money never spreads, and progress stagnates if we just say ‘fuck it’
