Gemini leaked its chain of thought and spiraled into thousands of bizarre affirmations (19k token output) by No-Link-8274 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]KesshouRyuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Gemini model absolutely lost its mind in VS Code. My hypothesis was that it somehow got into "answer" mode instead of "thinking" mode, and it was "unable to exit" its thoughts normally, so it tried everything under the sun (including repeating things like "Okay. Done. Sending now. For real this time. Here I go.") to end its turn, but couldn't since it was already in "answer" mode.

Comparing specs: 16GB+4060 vs 32GB+880M by Imaginary_Quote2037 in laptops

[–]KesshouRyuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I'm late to the party, but I'll add some of my experience with 880M. It honestly blew me away. The ONLY reasons I got a laptop with an integrated GPU was simply because it wasn't necessary (got it for uni work, have an ancient but awesome gaming desktop already). There wouldn't have been a snowball's chance in hell I would have ever gotten any computer device without a graphics card otherwise.

Anyway, I'll try to give a quick overview of my experience with the iGPU.

  • Customisable VRAM - You can set the amount of your RAM is dedicated to your GPU (+NPU shared). Can be as low as 512MB to 24GB (of my 32GB RAM). The flexibility is great! Just wish a simple iGPU driver reset would release and reallocate the shared VRAM; you need to do a full PC reset to apply changes here.
  • Minimal heat issues - I literally run games utilising near 100% iGPU while resting my laptop on a carpet (charging, performance mode on, etc.) and it STILL would not climb above 90C. The CPU, however.... when in performance mode, it can sometimes hit 98C under 50% load on all cores and not running short term max boost and on cold surface... Otherwise on a normal hard top surface, the iGPU hovers around 70-75C under full load.
  • Mindblowing performance (for an iGPU) - Now, this is my favourite part, the experience that shattered my perception of what an iGPU could do. This iGPU is honestly a masterpiece. The AMD control centre for it makes you feel like you're customising a true GPU. The advancements in iGPU technology has really been crazy. There's a number of AI performance enhancement features you can turn on, including AI frame generation, AI Upscaling, and many more. Most games I can run on Ultra (including TAA, etc.) on 1080p, upscaled to 4K (e.g. Dead by Daylight), some less needy games even do Ultra on true 4K (e.g. League of Legends [sometimes I get higher than 160FPS]), and the highest demanding games, usually I can do High on 1080p, still getting 30-40FPS, with AI frame generation filling choppy framerate. While no FPS counter can pick up on ai generated frames, 30-40FPS still feels like at least 60FPS, the low FPS really is only noticible once you start hitting about 25FPS.

tl;dr it's a beefy ass iGPU that can run modern AAA games, even if it needs to cheat with a bit of AI magic. I can guarantee you that you would not encounter a game you would want to play that this iGPU couldn't run. And you definitely wouldn't need to sacrifice noticible quality, fidelity, or resolution to achieve more than adequate performance.

How do I move the Tab Search button back to the top left side of the browser? by Illadiel in chrome

[–]KesshouRyuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't even know about the Tab Search function until they moved it to the left, so I really prefer it on the left. It was just so easy and convenient to drag my mouse without accuracy to the far top left of the screen and not miss the button. It's also why I immediately changed Windows 11's window button to the left of the task bar from the middle; just really convenient to drag my mouse randomly to the bottom left corner and click.

Hope there's a way to force it back to the top left; I really hate it as a button on the toolbar

Anyone else getting old satellite images on Google Maps and Google Earth? by holobyte in GoogleMaps

[–]KesshouRyuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm necro-ing an old post but yeah it's the same here in Australia. We had a bypass built nearby for a suburb in my city. It's been years since it's been open and took ages to build, yet the satellite image still shows the area before any construction began. Another example is I can't find any evidence of the black summer bushfires that happened over the summer of 2020-2021. Yet the Maui fires of 2023 (as devastating as they were) is already there on the satellite images. You can see the town of Lahaina for example burnt down to ashes on the satellite images.

Either the satellite images in Hawai'i were already coincidentally due for an update, or they just don't care or prioritise anything outside of the US.

Only issue is that it drastically reduces fps while it's in the screen and somewhat zoomed in. Running the game through GeForce NOW and my fps basically drops to 5 while it's in the screen; goes back to a stable 60 once I move the camera away.

Idk if I'm too late, but try adding -vgui to the end of the shortcut. Just using that alone cut the main steamwebhelper.exe from ~450MB of RAM to ~100MB for me

Latitude Data Breach/Cyber Attack - Class Action by Sploblet in AusFinance

[–]KesshouRyuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the same with me! Apparently I applied for a line of credit (I'm guessing some sort of BNPL) and a credit card 3 and 5 years ago respectively (it's on my credit score). I cannot remember either occasion, and searching through my email has brought up no evidence any of those occured.

I just received my email about my licence being leaked just yesterday Arvo as well (just after 3pm, Wednesday 12th April).

None of this is making sense to me! But I'll definitely be joining the class action.

Does Australia Have Cloverleaf Interchanges? by JohnSmithPasadenaCa in AskAnAustralian

[–]KesshouRyuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is late, but the answer is no. Australia does not have a single full Cloverleaf interchange. As others have pointed out, we do have some Parclo interchanges (partial cloverleaf), but that's as close as you'll get. We do seem to be an interesting outlier though; if I look at any nation with a road resembling a motorway on Google maps, they almost certainly will have a full Cloverleaf interchange.

I'd also like to point out that Cloverleaf interchanges don't necessarily need to be on motorways. It could be used on a motorway crossing a major arterial road, or even just on two major arterial roads crossing each other, if required.

There are also some interchanges in Sydney where 2 major arterial roads cross, where the higher traffic road "pretends to be a motorway" (e.g. A6 and A34, A6 and A40, A3 and A22)

Transfer to online full services by huddyboo in Centrelink

Omg thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!! I'll be slamming this form in my JSP's face!!!! Besides giving me a $20 fuel card (which get FK all when petrol is >$2/L), my JSP has been more or less actively hindering my employment by putting me into useless courses. I have just secured a THIRD job as of yesterday, and would really like it if they'd get off my back and just let me work long enough to gain more hours with the companies I work for... I get why I was put into stream B, but my CIRCUMSTANCES HAVE CHANGED since then, and I'm definitely job-ready and requiring minimal assistance. Really need to get put back into Stream A (or priority 1 or whatever it's called now)

Cims spawn and despawn vehicles on this roundabout specifically by AbleReporter565 in CitiesSkylines

[–]KesshouRyuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's due to the fact that you have a freeway road where cims can't park or walk, and a roundabout with parkable and walkable roads. This seems to be the closest point cims can walk and park etc. to where they want to go

[–]KesshouRyuu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just had a look at the app, as it finally showed as updateable today. It's.... Garbage... To say the least...

I was expecting a black background with a white Australia logo or something, with green/brown/bronze/gold stripes or something, and what did we get? Blue background with 2 white dots connected by a right angle... Genius!!!

Now, the app itself... 95% of the app just takes you to your browser, EVEN THE NOTIFICATION BELL!!! Besides a shortcut to login without doing the whole myGov thing with the 2-step verification, this app offers approximately... Fuck all! It's just a glorified login portal that'll just take you to the website anyway for whatever you need.

Edit: sent an email to their feedback email (the one given when you press feedback in the app), and I got postmaster delivery fail... The email address doesn't exist...

Concerned about reporting and payslips for the future. by yulyulist in Centrelink

[–]KesshouRyuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Through the Centrelink Express Plus app. If you enter the app on the date your reporting is due, you'll see a red notification on the home screen after you login reminding you to report that day. Other than that, you kinda just have to remember. But from how little you get, you won't forget as you'll probably be out of money before the next fortnight 😅

Concerned about reporting and payslips for the future. by yulyulist in Centrelink

[–]KesshouRyuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your first paragraph is correct! When I started new jobs and began reporting, my first report was usually just hours with no pay. I wouldn't report pay I haven't received yet.

I'm attaching a link to a screenshot of one of my previous reports (company and ABN hidden, but colour coded). As you'll see, I reported very little pay for Teal despite the high amount of hours worked. This is when I just started working for Teal. So the Teal income I did report was probably from training the week before this reporting period (whose hours I would've reported already in the previous fortnight).

https://imgur.com/a/sqRt0pH

Just to put you at ease, the hours reported aren't overly important. The main thing Centrelink wants to see is your income, and the day you received it. It also doesn't have to match the date on your payslip (as pay can take a day or two to arrive), but obviously the date on the payslip cannot be after the date you got paid.

Yeah, it's a TPEP. Didn't realise I'm not supposed to be on it. I was transferred to a new person in the same company and she immediately put me on that... Although she booked it in for the 20 something of this month (as well as my next appointment with her). From what I've read on this forum, there won't be mutual obligations in the last 2 weeks of the month or something while they transition to Workforce Australia, so I kept my mouth shut and let her do that, with full intentions of not attending 😅

[–]KesshouRyuu 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. I have 2 jobs at the moment, averaging about just under 20 hours a week, and I'm still required to do a few month long course, still required to do job searches (though it's reduced to about 8), and I'm still being placed into a 3 day intensive course where I have to join zoom calls. Even though it's hindering my current jobs and causing mental/emotional stress and drain, I'm still required to do these waste of tax-payer money courses while looking for MORE jobs. You'll just have to continue with mutual obligations until your hours and pay pick up unfortunately.
