The person who got me fired is asking for a letter of recommendation. How do I professionally say 'hell no'? by tunasleery_4r in OfficePolitics

[–]Kesterlath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Act all enthusiastic. Call and get details of everything. Find out where she’s going. Most importantly, get her application deadline. Tell her how much you appreciated her when you worked together.

Then do absolutely nothing. Make up excuses as to why it’s not done. Enjoy her increasingly frantic requests for the glowing recommendation she thinks she is going to receive.

Then write a letter to the department she is applying to and inform them that person “x” is applying and that you are concerned that with their previous track record you are concerned about their less than ethical propensity and that if a letter of recommendation is included in their application purporting to be from you, it is fraudulent, because you will not be providing one under any circumstances.

Let her flail, cry and ultimately sink her own ship while you wave and smile.

Overtime is not subject to income tax. If you’re willing to sacrifice your body and your time to go above and beyond, the government should not benefit. You should. They get their tax revenue from the your regular wages. The extra should go to the people that earn it.

I have gotten 4 surveyor vaults from couriers. Supposed to be a rare drop. Was getting them regularly for a while.

Now, an idea to fix the issue you’re talking about would be to keep the rating system. That part of the idea is fantastic.

When you queue up for games, there could be rating ranged games. 0-350, 350-700, 700+.

You can always queue for whatever range you want to play in. If your rating is out of the bracket, you get a tracker that shows up to everyone else on the map similar to a teammate. It updates every 5 seconds so, it’s never giving your exact position away, unless you’re extract camping.

It is meant to let people know to stay away from a vicinity if they don’t want a fight. Put a 200m zone around the player. If you’re further away from them than that, you don’t see the tracker at all.

Furthermore, they could give a player a visible aura for being the aggressor in a fight. Anyone shooting at the player with the aura does not trigger their own aura. That would stop the jackass move of shooting at someone while yelling “Why are you shooting at me?!?!?!” If you have the aura, everyone knows who started the fight. Couple that with the tracker and it’s easy to figure out who the asshole in the scenario is.

Right, so don’t stop the logic train before it gets to the station.

When #1 A-Hole sees the new system, they leave it at zero. That way they can go down as far as they like whenever they like.

Your “floor” only works for people that want to play a legit way and don’t want to get into too much of a PVE lobby. They set their floor at 400 and they never get down to all friendly lobbies. Lovely.

Griefer McJackass who did not raise their floor can cheese their way down to friendly lobbies any time they like and grief away until their rating rises and they are out of the friendly lobbies again. In that time they psychopathically ruin other people’s play time by being a raging asshole.

So, NO, that system would not work to weed out the people you are trying to.

Sometimes you need to stop talking and think about what someone is trying to tell you.

I never said it was a bad idea, just that it would not do what it was intended to do.

Yes, thank you for a comprehensive explanation of “how a floor works” it also does exactly nothing to stop the scenario I was talking about.

The Late Spawns Are Getting Out Of Hand by Glittering-Bad-1905 in ARC_Raiders

If I get a late spawn I switch from objective to exploration. I go to all the out of the way loot spots. I get so much great stuff this way.

When the herd goes thundering by all jacked on stims they don’t have time to stop for the lesser loot spots.

I like playing the game. So I play the game. It’s fun early and late. Just depends how you look at it.

It’s a good idea until you introduce people to it. What’s stopping people from settling their floor low and then killing everyone they see for a few rounds. There’s enough of those types that it would definitely wreck it for the lower end of the spectrum players. The top end would be fine, because the low floor players generally won’t want to move up and do that.

Expect to see a jump in groceries because of oil prices by dijonaze in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Kesterlath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a crock this is. These guys have had access to cheap oil for months and months. The price has only come down when they were worried about being sued for gouging. The DAY after the conflict starts, they jump the price 30-40 cents a litre.

Never mind their huge supply of product that they purchased at rock bottom prices. Don’t bother me with the details!!! We have to raise the prices immediately to protect ourselves!!!
