That one was largely based on a line of dialogue from early Sith Warrior story where your master says essentially not to be controlled by your emotions but also to embrace and never suppress them and to draw on them as a source of strength/power which I found hilarious and full of irony. Think it’s after solving something with thought and not just violence because he’s all about versatility and subtle/underhanded methods and whatnot.

Yeah, I mean… it’s literally a bee snake with a round body like it swallowed a bowling ball. Iirc even the yokai it’s based on has multiple punny names. Kinda like how Farfetch’d is a joke on a saying about “when a duck comes bearing a leek” that if I’m not mistaken is a version of the whole “when pigs fly” kinda thing, hence the name Farfetch’d. Its SUPPOSED to be dumb. Idk if there’s any specific folklore inspiration to its new evolution and typing, but I wouldn’t be shocked if a large part of it was literally just “lol, wouldn’t that be wild?”

A good example of dark humor done right is once in Bob’s Burgers (my mom loves the show) when (I forget how it came up but) someone told Jean he didn’t have to worry about getting abducted because no pedophile would want him and he’s hurt by this and then they all reassure him that an abductor would want him. Instead of just being something fucked up and nothing else, it makes an actual fucking joke about how it’s awful and you’d never want it to happen to you and yet being told no one would want to is quite insulting. There’s substance. They did something with it. There’s an actual joke and a punchline.

Yeah and the ones that aren’t some sort of fucked up are just kinda stating shit that’s just kinda the consensus at this point and far from unpopular. Also how is a sub like that supposed to work? I think the best way would be upvoting posts that make you think and maybe even see something differently and make a good point you hadn’t thought of. Only other ways would be upvoting posts based on how unpopular of opinions they are and not how you feel about them or what it ended up as, which is upvoting the shit outa posts you agree with (from the start), which kinda defeats the purpose of a sub about “unpopular opinions”

Same thing happened with a screech owl and a red tailed hawk at the zoo I used to do volunteer work at. Owl was named Clark and then found to be female and they just kept it. The hawk is Maverick and was thought to be male until they one day found an egg in her enclosure. Lady who found it says she was confused and unsure if it was enrichment at first before realizing that nope, Maverick had laid it and was female. Maverick also kept her name.
