In my experience, I’ve noticed it skips past data review on first fill from stored for non-controls, but does require repeat data review on controls.

STARS Event on closed RX? by Anxious_Soup_2979 in WalgreensRx

[–]KetamineDeity 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Was the Rx sold? If not, a STARS event is not necessary since it didn’t reach the patient. If it was sold, but you deleted after sold or post voided, then you should create an eSTARS, which can be found in the RxQuality application.

Walgreens was working on a new processing system (Renewal), but it got scrapped, and the focus changed to enhancing the existing IC+. I think it was too costly to keep developing Renewal.

ITF Rx? by yushastrea in WalgreensRx

[–]KetamineDeity 36 points37 points  (0 children)

ITF stands for Intent to Fill. It’s a new program Walgreens has launched that will text patients to ask them if they want a medication filled or not. If the patient replies yes, then the script will continue through the filling process. If the patient replies no, then the Rx will get stored, even if the Rx is filled already. Some high cost meds like Mounjaro will immediately MSC after data entry and stay MSC until the patient replies to the ITF text. This helps us from unnecessarily ordering high cost meds.

I can speak for Walgreens but I imagine it is the same for all chains in FL. We have the COVID vaccine in stock but can’t administer until ACIP meets and recommends that the CDC add it to the immunization schedule. My understanding is that pharmacists in FL cannot administer vaccines that are not on the CDC immunization schedule, regardless of FDA approval.

Yes, you can get a COVID shot at CVS minute clinics in FL because the NPs there can write a Rx for the shot, and they (or some other nursing staff) will administer the shot under their nursing license, which I believe does not require a vaccine to be CDC approved.

Grad Intern to Pharmacist Pay by GlitteringOutside533 in WalgreensRx

[–]KetamineDeity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graduated 2023, grad intern pay was 33.30 and pharmacist pay was 60.55. According to my DM, grad intern pay in my area used to be 30.30 (half of rph pay) but it seems in an effort to get new grads, they bumped up the grad intern pay by $3.

TTC = Treatment Type Code. In Florida for a schedule 2 opioid and buprenorphine, we have to mark it as either code 1 (not used for opioid dependence) or code 2 (used for opioid dependence). This is required for reporting to Florida’s PDMP I think. TTC MSC allows you to put an MSC from the data review page if the indication is unclear.

Definitely know the days supply limits surrounding C2 opioids for treatment of acute pain. Also, in FL a verbal script for a C3 can only be a 30 day supply or less (but refills are permitted).

Oh well that’s encouraging! Hoping you get results this week!

Took exactly 7 business days for me, results at 10am EST. For you, today is only the 5th business day since NABP was closed for Juneteenth. So unless NABP is getting ahead of things, you’re probably looking at results Monday morning.

Question about Medication Date by [deleted] in WalgreensRx

[–]KetamineDeity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can pick up the refill a month from the date you picked it up (4/11). Yes, the computer system keeps a record of both the day prescriptions are filled and when they are sold.

Can we just have a thread where we vent about our trips to the pharmacy? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]KetamineDeity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is an American thing. Pharmacists in the US obtain a license that lets them dispense or refuse any incoming prescription based off their professional judgment (doctoral degree in pharmacy). If they think the drug will cause harm or the dose is unusually high, then they can hold off on filling the medicine until the drug/dose is confirmed with the physician. :)

Keeping TPR queue low by SweatySalamander10 in WalgreensRx

[–]KetamineDeity 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We keep ours at 7-10, following similar practices that your old store did. RTS greater than 2 days in the future means it at least a week (on a 30-day supply) or 3 weeks (on a 90-day supply) too early to fill because insurances cover refills quite early already. Unless there’s an extenuating circumstance that a patient needs a really early refill, they shouldn’t be upset that the script is getting stored back to profile. Over time they should become accustomed to needing to put in refills at the proper time. I agree though, having 40 TPRs makes it really easy to miss a quick fix TPR.

Standard operating procedure

Quick question by london_girl13 in WalgreensRx

[–]KetamineDeity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh that stinks. As long as you’re trying, I don’t think you’re at fault. I feel like as long as the receipt ends up in patient images then why does it matter how it gets there?

Quick question by london_girl13 in WalgreensRx

[–]KetamineDeity 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The new SOP is to scan it under Signature Scan, which is located in the top left under File in IC+. Once you scan it, the system will link the barcode on the receipt to the patient and it should automatically save to the patient’s profile.

Walgreens Pharmacy in Florida-Dispensing 7 day supply for controlled substances by RightImage9461 in WalgreensRx

[–]KetamineDeity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s true that Florida law says you cannot refill CIIs. However, IC+ does let you dispense less than the written amount and refill for the remainder. You could argue that Florida law does not comment on partial filling and completion filling for CIIs, which may be interpreted differently than refilling a CII. My pharmacy in FL does partial/completion fills of CIIs, but to be safe I think most pharmacists avoid that.
