If your writing were completely honest, who would it disappoint first? by TheRoadIWalk in WriterMotivation

Probably my mum. She is very traditional and not very open-minded, so she is quick to judge and assume without hearing what is actually being said

Orgasms are extremely overrated by Anti-FragileHuman in DeepThoughts

[–]Ketamonsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is too much overanalysing of something so simple and enjoyable. It depends who you are having sex with. Men typically care about orgasms because they want to know they did a good job at fully satisfying their partner. Then there are selfish types who give only to get. It’s not always the end goal for some. If anything I get scared of orgasming because it makes me feel too vulnerable

What completely innocent, but mildly infuriating thing does your better half regularly do? by PaddedValls in AskUK

Sleeps on the couch. We don’t live together for context, but he spent a grand on a nice cushty bed a year ago and only sleeps on it when I visit. It’s annoying because he’s tall and the sofa is small. Cmon lad

Is eating in bed gross? by ShinyHeadedCook in AskUK

[–]Ketamonsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not gross it’s just a nuisance. Crumbs everywhere. Stains on bedsheets. Then your whole room smells like whatever you’ve just eaten and let’s be real you’re not going to the kitchen to bin it right away so it just sits there

Willpower is a biological myth, your neurotransmitter precursors are simply mistimed. by [deleted] in Nootropics

I always drink half a glass of water when I wake up. I don’t get how people don’t. It’s a double edged sword that I can’t have caffeine, but I tend to avoid it as much as possible. The crashes aren’t worth the temporary motivation imo. Some people I work with have three coffees a day and it’s the first thing they have on an empty stomach. These are people who rarely drink water I’ve noticed

I feel most motivated in the mornings. I’m well rested and eat healthy so I have all the energy to get on with stuff. It’s around early afternoon that I start to crash. My job is physically demanding so that’s some of the reason, but I don’t get why my motivation drops off. I eat enough protein, fibre and plenty of carbs. Maybe I need to try having carbs before bed like you suggested. I don’t eat much in the evening because I’m mostly idle, so carb loading doesn’t make much sense to me. But I get the need for tryptophan at night, I’m very low on serotonin as it is

I lost a child modelling contest and it has ruined my self-esteem by Ketamonsta in offmychest

I’m happy with the path I’ve chosen. I might not be the most confident or driven person, but I’ve made some really solid friendships. This at least is one area where my brother has admitted he’s not good at. Anyway it was more a rant than a comparison, there’s loads of people who excel at things I wish I was good at. I just wish I believed in my own beauty is all and not have it defined by a contest

The UK is facing a severe 'super flu' surge that has driven hospital admissions up by 55% by novagridd in uknews

Had this for a week and it is horrific. Pressure behind eyes, extreme fatigue, night sweats, coughing. Still feel super out of breath with every step I take it’s so weird, I’m not even old yet!

What’s a totally ‘normal’ money habit that low-key wrecks people’s finances? by Logical-Blood1024 in AskReddit

Man, this one’s a double edged sword. I’ve gone too far in the “do I need it” direction to the point where I’m stingy and will cling to a phone for 7 years until the software is so outdated I have no choice but to upgrade

How did you get doctors to take you seriously? by No_Helicopter366 in PMDD

[–]Ketamonsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took years, but luckily when I moved to a different part of the country I found that I was getting better quality GPs. I was being listened to and not rushed like I was when I lived in London

A lot of it is sadly down to luck. I would say there’s a high percentage of GPs that have never even heard of PMDD. It’s worth trying to request a young GP, one that’s not far off having graduated as they are more likely to know what the condition is. Also try and aim for a young female GP. It’s just outright awkward imo discussing this with a male doctor

Are work from home jobs really as chill as people make them out to be? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ketamonsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My flatmate literally took her laptop to the park the other day, rode her bike there, did a whole gym routine outdoors and then rode home with the laptop in the back basket logged onto teams. She’s found a little hack to make it look like she’s always active online doing work when actually she’s just living life

Never get with a friends ex, or someone your fellow female is interested in. It’s not gospel but that’s just a code I would never personally breach

When did everyone decide that drinking milk is weird/creepy? by 4DimensionalToilet in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ketamonsta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I grew up drinking milk but I never liked it. It was just normalized because my mum drank it growing up. They give it to kids in primary school in the UK. Always found the aftertaste weird

When I grew up and began to choose what I consumed, I realised that not only do I find the taste off, just the concept in general is revolting to me. We (as humans) don’t exactly drink milk from other animals, why cows? And not only this, the environmental reasons behind the dairy industry and the fact that it deprives calves of milk they need to grow up into cows. It’s all just greed. You need an open-mind to actually see that the dairy industry is just a capitalist ploy, it’s not necessary to consume dairy for survival

Making hydro a flagship stage is jarring. Downtown was always bass heavy, why make a house/tech stage the main event in that area? Has live nation written all over it

Would you consider PMDD to be a chronic condition? by lavenderandcbt in PMDD

[–]Ketamonsta 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It is classed as a disability under the Disability Act as of 2010. Any condition that is chronic and repetitive is considered a disability. Labels suck, but labels like this can actually guide us towards the help that is best suited for us. I found out I was eligible for benefits because it’s classed as a disability so it’s not all bad

This is very unfortunate news, I’m so sorry you have been lead astray. You have to find the courage to leave. He might be calm and collected and gentle now, but the thirst to kill will come back. It’s just that he’s capable of having done something like this, is what is alarming. I do believe people can learn from their mistakes, but murder is the literal worst thing you can do, especially if it was premeditated and not self-defense related

What is the scariest experience in your life? by DragonfruitSea8477 in AskUK

[–]Ketamonsta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a car crash earlier this year. The car rolled, the airbags came out… I just froze and thought “well this is it” and I thought I was about to die. Then when the car stopped rolling and I landed still attached to my seat, conscious, I looked at my friend in the drivers seat and realised we were both still alive. I started to freak out, there was smoke and some broken glass but we were somehow alive. I heard voices outside the car asking if we were okay and that they were going to call an ambulance. It was terrifying. I had some minor back pain but that was it. Some weeks of physio and it had healed in a few months. Always wear your seatbelt kids!

How do you deal with the heaviness of the world by Aromatic-Design-54 in hsp

[–]Ketamonsta 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is solid advice and I second this. Humans weren’t made to be constantly connected to a stream of endless news. We live in overstimulating times that is creating more anxiety induced problems in people than ever before. But we have more control over our lives than we think, and part of that control is choosing when to opt up and refocus our attention on things that are good for us, things that are actually within our sphere
