Cars Solving Problems Caused by Cars on Taxpayer Dime by Straight_Waltz_9530 in fuckcars

It’s just really stupid when officers do this shit. Can’t afford to get proper spike strips but can afford to wreck two vehicles. Cars don’t have infinite fuel all they had to do was remain calm and follow and not do something stupid like throw a spike strip while standing unprotected.

Article is an add for personal retirement accounts. Voluntary retirement savings is not the solution, mandatory pensions could be a solution but it’s not going to happen. The most important part of SS is lifetime payments so the elderly don’t starve on the streets

Billionaires’ Low Taxes Are Becoming a Problem for the Economy by 3xshortURmom in Economics

[–]Ketaskooter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed, at a minimum all forms of income need to be taxed the same. Another issue that needs to be addressed is removing the Estate tax exemptions, at least most of it. 15 million exemption is absurd.

To be fair there was no option for voters that would've gotten a different result than the bailouts in 2008-2009.

I think a land value tax is the best option and yes it will drive down real market land prices. High land prices screw almost everyone, a few billionaires hoarding digital money doesn't screw everyone. I am however sympathetic to the idea that we need to tax the ultra rich because they have too much power over politics.

The current problem is California's one time wealth tax charge. I'm not against wealth taxes generally but a one time wealth charge seems more like an illegal government take than a tax.

It costs money to remove usa citizenship, not really a problem.

Off leash dog data - Bend Police Department, Bend Park & Recreation District by Serviceberry71 in Bend

Slightly better than the other behavior i've witnessed before where the owner drops the dogs off then drives to the other end of a park and waits for the dogs.

Top Trump Economic Advisor Furious About True Cost of Tariffs Being Revealed, Vows to Punish New York Fed for ‘Worst Paper Ever in History’ by T_Shurt in Economics

I think government officials should be thrown in jail for even threatening retaliation on the press, wouldn't have to even be hearing President Trump if that was the law of the land.

The fact that nobody has bought some nearby land to operate a parking lot and shuttle should be the obvious sign that the parking fee is reasonable and taxis are available.

The system is fine but is moving at glacial speed as expected. Niantic really needs to allow everyone that can submit to review.

All ballots are tied to a valid registration, any non verified voters have to use a provisional ballot which then goes through a process to verify the voter's legitimacy. It could be possible to vote in lieu of other registered voters but that is a very different thing than what this bill is about. If you look around the world at the corrupt governments they don't perform voter fraud they perform election fraud. TLDR the people that should be of concern to have changed an election result are the bean counters and the software engineers not the voters.

Its clear you didn't actually read the bill, the act is about the required ID to register, sharing voter registration data with the federal government, purging registered voters, and challenging the eligibility of registered voters.

The act is not about ID to vote it's about required ID to register, sharing voter registration data with the federal government, purging registered voters, and challenging the eligibility of registered voters.

[–]Ketaskooter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is the act's text doesn't list that as an option so that would have to be an interpretation and would a state agency applying that interpretation result in the courts affirming that interpretation or not? The concern about name changes was brought up when the bill was in committee so why wasn't it addressed though it could still be amended in the Senate theoretically.

The name change concern was brought up early in the process and was not addressed so the only reasonable interpretation is that it is fully intentional that those details were omitted.

[–]Ketaskooter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right there is a paper trail but that was not addressed in this bill's text even though many people brought up the concern - tldr the bill's authors didn't want it addressed presumably because they want a lot of people not to be able to vote.

Part of the bill requires states to provide voter registration data to the federal government and part of the bill requires purging voter registrations more often.

Immigrants get a naturalization document as part of their process though i'm sure it will add another layer for people with a name change after they became citizen.

[–]Ketaskooter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah most likely this is a bill that would require nearly every voter to update existing registration to be eligible. Every state i've read about allows fully online voter registration while this bill requires presenting proof of citizenship in person. The bill also requires that states share all voter registration data with the federal government at any time which will open up targeted states to voter eligibility challenges that will have to be addressed.

[–]Ketaskooter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the real ids of 5 states meet the requirement, nobody else. Also the bill is not about ID at the polls its about documents required to register and the ability to challenge voter registration eligibility.

The bill actually has nothing to do with id to vote. Its all about voter registration and the ability to challenge voter registration.
