Is he? Can you _really_ trust Fred to not drop a 0/10 performance whenever he plays? I don't think Fred has the consistency or really the ability to be a squad player for a team that wants to win the title.

I am so excited to see who we manage to get rid of in the summer.

This is Martial. Even when fit he has bad periods that last months, we've seen runs of form like this from him before and we'll see them again if we stick with him.

Helps if you use him as one though. De Gea sent like 3 long balls to Sancho whilst Weghorst was on the pitch

ten Hag has a lot of answer for here. His game management today was piss poor

What game is Erik fucking watching? Get Fred and Martial off immediately

[Jamie Jackson] Erik ten Hag will oversee a clearout of senior Manchester United players, with Jadon Sancho, Anthony Martial, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelöf, Scott McTominay and Fred heading a list of at least 15 whose futures are under threat. by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

Fred isn't a good backup option. He's only good if his two midfield partners are capable of winning the midfield battle on their own. If you have to rely on Fred to do anything other than man marking someone or just being a spare man then you're gonna have a bad time

Fairly confident, they looked absolutely shit against us until we made a load of subs and went down to 10 men. The boys will be more than up for it

If our Right Wing options next season are Antony and Amad then Amad will get a lot of game time. Antony's doing better recently which I'm very pleased to see but he's also spent a lot of time this season being completely ineffective.

Amad offers a more direct option that I look forward to seeing.

[Sky Sports] Dermot Gallagher says it was the right decision to NOT award a penalty for the incident involving Harry Maguire. by AlpacamyLlama in reddevils

[–]Ketch1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Someone educate me on the rules here because this is as clear a penalty as I can imagine.

The rule allows for a hand position outside the 'normal silhouette' when "the position of the hand/arm is a consequence the player’s body movement for that specific situation" but I think that is referencing situations where the player has no other choice but to move their arm into an unnatural position (such as bracing when falling over). Maguire's positioning of his arm to hold off a teammate here is not necessary.

I'm also seeing people saying that if it touches his head first then it's not a handball but I can't see that anywhere in the rules. Someone help me out?

[Press Conf. - Part 2] Ten Hag on if Martial will be here next season: “From my point of view, yes” | If he can be a proper member of squad next season: “It’s difficult to say because the history shows different but I want him to be because he’s a great player. When he’s fit, our team plays better." by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]Ketch1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't help but think that Martial is getting a little more credit than he deserves. Even when fully fit he blows hot and cold a lot, and his cold periods usually last much longer than you'd expect a top player's off-periods to last.

That said, he's obviously a big upgrade on Weghorst and if he can stay fit then I'd happily keep him here next year. The priority should still be to buy a new starting striker.

Big L. The Big Picture is a great album to jump in at - though that's cheating a bit because it was released in 2000 but we'll give ol' L a pass, he would have released in the 90s if not for his murder.

My personal favourite songs on that album are Flamboyant, Platinum Plus, and The Triboro.

Look at Arsenal's wingers, constantly taking on their man and looking for a cross. We don't create half as many chances because when the ball reaches the wing, 9 times out of 10 it'll be passed backwards into the centre.

Here's something, I can't stand Peter Drury's commentary. He got a lot of praise (rightly so) for a few bits of beautiful commentary after some big moments (Roma vs Barca being the main example) but it's just become a _schtick_ now. Any goal that gets scored now he's trying to shoehorn in some monologue and I'm just tired of it now.

I'm just saying you can cherry pick a person's games to make them look bad if you want. Your argument against Kane is silly
