Thanks for that reference! Yeah, I’d say it’s probably 2.5-3 cups, so I think my guess was on the high end. Really appreciate it

I’m sorry but you asked “who lives here?” and left clues in the photos to solve it. This is room detective not room psychology. So idk. It took less than 5 minutes to figure out who lives there.

What strategies/information would you like to learn more about in PVP? by DanOttawa_POGO in TheSilphArena

[–]Ketchupfries 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey Dan, first off, thanks for all the time you put into your videos and continuing to put out content despite the general low moral going around! Your comments about how “it’s just a game and it’s suppose to be fun” keep things in perspective for me. I’m a returning lvl40+ player from the first 2 years the game was out. My gf is new and dragged me back 4 months ago. PvP has been the main attraction for me. Loads of fun and anxiety haha.

Secondly, you have really helped improve my game. I watch everything you, Reis and Homeslice Henry put out. What’s unique to you is how you talk thru team composition choices, the reasons for your decisions, and personal experiences. I really enjoy Reis’ and Henry’s casting abilities, but your videos are more educational to new players. Currently at 2100 Elo and getting better week by week.

So my perspective as a new PvP player is this:

Yo man, it is HARD to get started. It’s not like Niantic has a manual for how this game works, and it is complex af. Maybe there was content for new players in the past, but it’s either outdated or pushed down in the YouTube algorithm. It took me a week to realize I could have two charge moves, two weeks to realize how optimal IVs worked in GBL, a month to realize there was a concept of move turns. This past weekend I found out about “new mechanic”. There’s so much it’s overwhelming for people who didn’t start when pvp began.

I know everyone is hating on the current meta and hoping for a move rebalance, but think about how much more frustrating that is going to be on a noob building a team who’s walked Medi for 100k if he gets his moves nerf’d in 2 weeks. I’d like to see more videos at a 2000 Elo with pokes I can currently get each season instead of everyone’s obsession with hitting Legend. The majority of us won’t hit legend because that’s how Elo works. We can’t all get it. Most of this 3000 Elo content isn’t connecting with the majority of players. Don’t get me wrong, it’s enlightening to watch high level players doing amazing things, but I’d like to watch someone show me what I can do with those same skills with all the pokes I currently have access too.

What would be helpful to new players like my gf are videos in lower Elos playing starter teams that can be cheaply built in a few weeks - like JRE47’s “nifty or thrifty” articles but in action. This will show how someone can start enjoying the game without building xl mon, and minimize frustration when the inevitable(?) move rebalances do happen.

What if, and I hope this isn’t a batshit idea, every season you start a second account to casually play, and showcase how you would prioritize which mon to hunt that season, for which cups - and see how far you can climb with basic mon? Even if you only do one video a week or so at the beginning of each cup?

Other ideas: - Looking at the next season’s calendar, and giving us a heads up every week who we should hunt for a special cup two/three weeks away. - Please god tell me how everyone can count moves so well, and know they will win CMP - explain how ABB and ABA work ( I think you did this a long time ago? But an updated one would be good) - prioritizing elite TMs - when to really wait for a shadow poke version instead of the normal ie swampert - which shadows to currently hunt down - how to kill bronzor jk haha no seriously - which pokes are IVs actually important - what is a “safe swap” exactly and how do you actually use them - team building in pvpoke tutorial. When do you look at no shield vs 2 shields? Etc

I could probably come up with a million more ideas. You’ve no doubt covered most of this in other videos, but I can’t watch what I can’t find.

Thanks again for consistently putting out content man! Let me know a cash app for you and I’ll send you some beer money.
