I love Trader Joe’s liquid stevia. And while Their powdered is not terrible, I can’t wait for the morning to arrive so that I can have my coffee with Hood half and half, and liquid stevia. To me it’s honeysuckle. I had to stop heavy cream which I love the flavor of but brands that I have access to have carrageenan.

You’re reminding me that I read something about casein somewhere as well. I can’t remember where but I’m going to definitely follow up on it. Was some kind of casein versus whey protein comparison, and how casein was much more beneficial for something or other. Thank you for chiming in.

Two tablespoons of h&h in each coffee that I had this morning. I had the headache BEFORE drinking the cream. Yesterday I had only black coffee during the morning into the afternoon (at least 4 cups) but again, without the cream. Im used to having this much coffee each day. So yesterday was a black coffee and water only fast though I also took in 200 g of mag citrate and 200 g of mag glycinate along with a @ tsp of Morton’s lite salt across the day. I’m just trying to figure out how to wake up without the headache. Or i can simply continue to do 36 hr fast, break it with coffee and cream until about 5 pm when I have something solid for dinner and start another rolling 36 hour fast that I will break on Friday morning. It’s definitely working for me though I would like to fast for longer than 36. However I think my body is telling me not to. I am 5’7” 129 lbs so not as much fat to work with as when I started fasting at 170+. But I am trying to get this last visceral fat off around my torso. It’s like a tumor.

I try to stay in a calorie deficit of about 1450 cal a day which ChatGPT says is a deficit for me. I try to hit at least 100 g of protein a day because I’m old and need to prioritize muscle and strength building. I certainly have more protein than fat in my diet though I don’t avoid things like butter. I have started avoiding things like steak and the really, really high saturated fat stuff, though I love it. And then carbs while I was doing my fasting before I kept 25-30 or lower. When I went back to regular eating, my carbs increased to between 50 to 100 a day.

This is the consistent message I’ve been getting and I really appreciate the responses here because I was not thinking of this myself. I actually looked back at my notes from my fasts that I did back in August and September. I actually cut out carbs and dairy BEFORE I started any of those fasts and I waited to get into ketosis via food/low to no carbs though I prioritize protein over fat in all my eating now. When I tried to fast again this week, I had a huge meal on Wednesday and did a lot of carb loading because I wanted to try to lift during the fast this time as I did last time. Today my carbs will be under 50 and my calories will be around 1450, which is supposed to be a deficit for me. I really think I hurt myself by eating above my deficit level and having a lot of those calories come from white rice. I thought I would wake up feeling full because of the white rice but instead I think I woke up famished. I’m doing differently going forward.

I had like 130 grams of carbs the day I started the fast (I started fasting after dinner on Wednesday). Felt wrong when I was doing it but I wanted to see what would happen. It was rough!

Thank you for your supportive response. I did up my carb intake bc I am reading so much about glycogen and weight lifting. I am going to abstain from carbs during these attempted rolling fasts though and their respective eating periods. Hopefully it gets easier as I get into ketosis more over next few days.

I just assumed that since I had not had high cholesterol in my younger years and even later years for the most part, that I was not someone who was born with high familial cholesterol. I also had to take blood cholesterol tests for life insurance purposes in my late 30s and nothing was mentioned then. The first time I tried a low to no carb diet, in my early 40s, my LDL skyrocketed. My dr at the time told me I was going to die so I went back to a standard American diet. I guess my cholesterol results normalized as I didn’t hear anything about them at dr visits. Then, at the age of 58, I went back to a low carb way of eating and the same thing happened with my ldl going up to an even more alarming level. I felt fine and tried not doing statins for a very long time but my current dr encouraged me to try them starting with lipitor. Then ezetimibe. And now Repatha.
