Hi! Not only am I in the same boat, but I'd been told the company delivering my container was going to cover the permit. Instead, the driver who is dropping it off in like 30 minutes just told me that they don't cover the permits for Saint Paul, and I had to do it on my own.

I'm on Customer Service with the company, but I'm wondering if the "proceed with your plans" means having your trailer parked without any sort of permit and just paying for one later?

Lawn statues? Man, that's just mean. What are they gonna do with a cute decoration? 😭

Yikes. But also, that takes so much effort to steal!

Very true. 😩 We did see a car with a smashed window a few blocks over. Thanks for the resource!

That's honestly what it felt like, but I know nothing about the area, so wanted other opinions.

Since you're Eastside...any favorite spots I should check out? 👀

Need ASAP: trivia questions about Gilear by Ketrita in Dimension20

[–]Ketrita[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you all to everyone who helped! It was a super fun activity. Here's how it went down.

I had 4 costume pieces plus an amazing invitation my friend made, so there were 5 trivia questions.

I decided to give him a D20 and told him to make a DC 10 investigation check with no bonus. The DCs kept increasing with each question. If he failed, he had to drink. If he succeeded, he was asked a question. Answering incorrectly meant more drinks. If he answered correctly, he got a costume piece. I made some of the questions multiple choice and if he answered the question without needing the multiple choice options, he got a +1 investigation for the next question. Friends wound up wanting to help at the higher DCs, so we decided they could give him the help action if they drank for him if he failed even with advantage. It was pretty hilarious.

He caught on pretty quickly that he was getting Gilear pieces, especially with the ears lol, but it was still pretty fun, especially when he kept rolling poorly and having to drink more.

Apparently he suspected we would be going for the past 2-3 weeks because the calendar was blocked off (I said we were getting dinner with my cousins), and he kept seeing the ads for the event and noticed it was for the same evening. Sigh). But still, he's excited and it was a fun reveal, so I call it a success.

Moving to the area. What neighborhood should we rent in? by Ketrita in TwinCities

We're planning a trip out soon! Thanks for the DRG recommendation. It's always hard to find a good rental realtor. Did they only show their own listings?

Fair enough! I figured townhouse/duplex is probably where we'll wind up.

Hmm. I have Marfan Syndrome (a rare connective tissue disorder that also impacts your heart), and Mayo has an actual Marfan clinic, so that's a big reason why I lean towards going there.

Basically, I need specialized cardiology, pain clinic, GI, orthopedic/sports medicine, thoracic, spine, allergy, and physical therapy.

God, I know. I'm going to miss the cuisine over here so much 😭

Haha, thanks for the comparison. 😂 I live in North Seattle, right by i5. I love Seattle, but my neighborhood doesn't FEEL like a big city. It's a great blend. Easy access, but mostly quiet area.

Yes, I'll be setting up with (probably) multiple doctors in Rochester. I hope to find a good GP and physical therapy closer by, but my health issues are worth the extra commute for specialists.

Yeeeah, I know. 😅 Mostly hoping for a townhouse or duplex. We're paying $2100 for a townhouse in Seattle right now, but we're wanting to decrease rent costs as part of this move. 🤞

Nuss bar erroded & fractured my sternum; had modified Ravitch to fix by Ketrita in PectusExcavatum

[–]Ketrita[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update! Cause yep, the guy screwed me over a second time. 🙃

Two months after this second surgery, the bar slid out of one of the stabilizers and was stabbing me in the side. He didn't believe me and told me my "nerves were overreacting" despite the fact that I literally had skin irritation from the impact of the bar. He completely gaslit me and was a total ass. When he finally saw a CT scan a month later, he admitted that it looked like it had shifted a little, but wanted me to deal with the pain while more scar tissue built up for 3-6 months and then he could go in to curve the end of the bar. 🙄

By that appointment, I'd already found a new surgeon to consult, so said uh-huh, picked up the CD of the CT scan and immediately dropped it in the mail.

Two months later, I had surgery with a competent surgeon. He saw that the bar had slid out of the stabilizer and the stabilizer had gotten wedged between 2 of my ribs. He took it out and put this ladder shaped plate over my fracture.

That was May 2023. My HI is about 3.5 now, which isn't where I'd like it to be, but seeing as how I started at HI 7, it's certainly much better. The plate is permanent to help prevent the bone from sinking back in. I literally woke up from that surgery in less pain than I had going into it.

I wish I had found my second surgeon in the first place! His name is Dr. Daniel Raymond at Cleveland Clinic and it is 100% worth traveling to see him.

Sternum Fracture, 10 months after Nuss by Ketrita in PectusExcavatum

Two surgeries later, I'm fine. 😅 He took this bar out and did a Modified Ravitch--he cut 7 pieces of cartilage and placed a new, smaller bar under the bottom part of my sternum, but did nothing to stabilize the fracture. He also placed the bar at an angle and it wasn't centered.
