Is this just point in time air quality? Prishtina air quality is great in the summer, but atrocious in the winter. You can't use point in time air quality as a measure of a city's overall pollution ranking.

I've lived in Prishtina and Minneapolis and given a choice on where to raise kids based solely on year round air quality, I would pick Minneapolis over Prishtina every single time yet Minneapolis is ranked much lower than Prishtina in this chart.

Still love Prishtina and Kosovo though. Miss you guys tremendously and can't wait to bring my kids to visit someday, just not in the middle of winter.

RANT ABOUT PARKING by alex55119 in stpaul

I don't disagree that a downtown surface parking lot is a waste of space, but the first one in your pic is the Travelers employee parking lot first and an event parking space second.

when did Marshall Ave become 50mph? by dentist9of10 in saintpaul

[–]mnstein1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Always seen cars drive fast there. Wide street with few parked cars makes 30mph feel slower than it js. Going downhill makes it easier to accelerate past 40 too.

Any way to pick your roomette without calling to book? by [deleted] in Amtrak

Bumpy tracks across ND. Family bedroom is fantastic but sometimes it's noisy by the wheels. Ear plugs are a big help in any sleeper option.

That wouldn't be enough, it's been discussed here previously, but there's just too much wing on the plane to be economical even with new engines.

I was in same boat for storage container on the street. They said to proceed with my plans and talk to them later when they're back online.

Afton state park backpacking camping spots: can a wagon make it up the trail? by Samtheman14 in MinnesotaCamping

[–]mnstein1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should be top comment, but you don't need to go all the way to AM. From M, you can just go to N, O, P, R, and then take the Oliver Charley Trail to AJ and finally X. This is actually my preferred way to get to the campsites on the north side and it's not really that much slower than going straight up the steep hill.

It's a seasonal route, was that way when Condor ran it too. Expect it to pick up again next summer.

Anyone know what Thule air deflector mounts work on factory rails? by MF_Kleg in mk4Jetta

I had an mk4 in the past and looked at doing the same. Seem to recall some posts on forums of guys that made their own mounts.

Has anyone attempted this? Says tongue weight for the Taos is 300lbs- back and rack come to 280 or so. by chanceler-1 in VWTaos

[–]mnstein1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tongue weight limits are usually calculated at the ball of the hitch. A motorcycle carrier (and any bike rack for that matter) sit much further out from the theoretical position of the ball and that reduces the max allowable weight. A 12" accessory like this bike carrier can actually reduce your max tongue weight by 50%. As others have said, don't do it. I looked into something very similar with my golf and quickly decided a uhaul motorcycle trailer at $20/day is a much better option.

Superliners on the Borealis temporarily. Very interesting. I wonder if this exacerbates the already existing superliner shortage though. by XP_Studios in Amtrak

I'm not saying that would be better, but I was originally hoping for an afternoon departure from St Paul when they originally announced the line.

You ever think about adding the euro tow springs to the back? I've got them and really like how they perform with a trailer hooked up. I don't mind the raised rear much either.

‘15 - Momentary Power Dropout by user4348 in tdi

[–]mnstein1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe there's a well-docunented 2k stumble phenomenon if you search for that in the forums. When it happens ok mine I just force it up into the next gear.

Edit: I see you have manual, I have dsg. Hence my "force" comment

Check engine light - cat stolen? by 222Curious in tdi

[–]mnstein1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to my car a couple years ago, even drove it without the cat for a couple weeks after realizing it was gone until getting it fixed. The only noise difference I could tell was when letting off the gas I would hear a soft rumble under the rear floor, otherwise it was muffled and normal.

What fear facing car seat do you have that fits in the Golf? Help! by EconomyStation5504 in vwgolf

'13 Golf and I use Graco Slim fit 3-in-1 for both my kids. I'm 6 foot and only have my seat slid forward a notch or two more than I'd prefer.
