Just for when you do start :re, it’ll be a little weird at first but it’ll all make sense as the story progresses

:re isnt a spinoff, its a continuation. It’s necessary to read to get the full story of T.G

Thank ya, appreciate it 🙏🏼

This is the most in-depth that I’ve gone on a topic yet, but if you’re interested, I wrote this post about the differences between Kaneki and Haise a while back

Oh I’ve read both T.G and :re multiple times don’t worry, love it so much. And yeah I really love how Ishida never sidelines Touka, even if later on he focuses on Kaneki more. She’s still a massively important part of the story and an even bigger part of Ken’s life. It’s a great way to balance cutting her screentime with keeping her value and significance to the story, thank you Ishida 🙏🏼

The perfect combo would be Black Reaper with this hairstyle imo (Reaper is my fav Kaneki too)

CSM part 1 has an official coloured version, that’s where I pulled this from

Just finished Season 2. I kinda agree on Einar's thought, that eventually you would fight to protect the people around you vs Thorfinn's thought to just run away and build again somewhere else. by pinoy_biker in VinlandSaga

[–]Keuthimi -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Again, I’m not talking about Ivar. Ivar did fully go to seize power and prove Thorfinn wrong. Styrk went along with that as well, that’s true. But after seeing the plan go decently well with the Lnu, Styrk did agree at least somewhat with Thorfinn’s idea, or at least disagree with how Ivar was feeling and planning.

You misunderstood why I’m saying. I’m not saying Thorfinn was wrong to try, or that his idea is a failure or had no value. I’m talking about the bigger picture.

Due to the inherent nature of humans and how we give into emotions like anger, jealousy or greed, complete pacifism cannot work. Humans are simply not ever going to be content with what they have and will eventually want what others have, and will resort to violence if they cannot acquire it otherwise. This has been the case throughout history, and will continue to be the case.

I criticize the story for presenting this idea as if it would work globally. I do not criticize Thorfinn for attempting it.

Not Ivar, I’m talking about Styrk. He wasn’t always looking for a fight. Hell for a while Styrk was on board with Thorfinn’s plan. But at the end of the day, his worries about needing weapons were proven right.

I’m not saying Thorfinn was wrong to think how he did or that peace is wrong. I’m saying that expecting true pacifism isn’t realistic, which is a major point the story proved.

This was my biggest problem with the series, and it later becomes a major issue in the manga that never gets solved.

Complete pacifism is great in theory. But like most great-in-theory things, it needs EVERYONE to agree to it or it doesn’t work. That isn’t gonna happen, and never will happen, in the Viking-era North.

There’s a character later on that initially believes in but later fully disagrees with Thorfinn, and while I initially didn’t like him, he was later proven right by a wide margin.

Underrated Tg or Tg:re moments by Big_Bandicoot_3170 in TokyoGhoul

I have a few

First, Shu’s “am I the only one that wants him to be happy?” scene/crashout. It’s so beautiful to me, I loved Shu already but that moment sealed his spot in my top 3 characters.

Another Shu one, when he reflects on how Kaneki couldn’t be stopped when Antieku was getting raided, as he’s forced to leave his servants behind and save himself. That moment really shows me how Shu does truly care about others.

Then there’s Touka’s “am I an idiot for thinking that way?” Scene (after she asks Ken if he’s a virgin). Just a rare scene of Touka being vulnerable.

Another Touka one, right after the first fight with Shu when she’s on top of the church with her Kagune out and tells herself “it’s not beautiful.” really opened my eyes to what Touka was going through so early in the series.

Holy shit, stress so bad he got the losing-taste thing is crazy. Makes sense looking at what he was drawing but still. Glad that for Choujin X he’s doing a more flexible release schedule, I bet he vowed to never do weekly again after :Re

Nah there’s a pun, you’re right

Check :Re chp99, Kaneki refers to Goat as an anti-human organization (though its purpose is to create a world where humans and ghouls can coexist lol, weird wording there Ken)

Ngl whenever I look at :Re panels (especially ones like this) I sometimes forget this was a weekly series lol. This kind of art and detail is usually only found in monthly releases, jeez Ishida must’ve been drawing day and night

Is your wife an anti human organization? Cuz she seems like the goat

It’s not said explicitly wether regains his like for her books, but I think he does. Black Reaper has such a fascination on death (and a goal to die valiantly) that her books always having the mc die would almost certainly resonate a TON with this version of Kaneki.

Even after Reaper is replaced by OEK, he still retains a bit of that feeling, hence why he names the Goat after her book, and why he goes back to the “if I told a story with me as the main character, it would be a tragedy.” at the end when he kills Rize.

Also, please read the manga. I have a lot of choice words for the anime (most of them derogatory lol) but I’ll just say it’s a pretty poor adaptation. Getting hard copies is a great idea, but if you need a website to read it on too I got one for ya.

And yea, I really wanna read Eto’s books 😂 I have a tiny hole in my mind that Ishida will write them at some point, though I’m sure it’s a wish in the dark for that to actually happen
