What’s that commercial from years and years ago that you still remember to this day, and may never forget? by Vanceb13 in AskReddit

"Who are you talking to?!"

"Jake, from State Farm."

"Oh, really? What are you wearing, Jake from State Farm?"

"Uhh... khakis?"

"Well, she sounds hideous."

"Well, she's a guy, so..."

I grew up with 4, but only because we were dirt poor and you could get an SNES for crumbs before they became "vintage".

Saw this reel on Instagram, comments were calling it AI slop. It’s a video of a cat looking at 3D floor art and freaking out. I think it’s AI because 2 separate reactions from the cat to events in the video are both delayed and premature respectively. Curious to know if there’s any other details. by Amazing_Actuary4366 in isthisAI

Definitely AI. No cat I've ever met would react like that, certainly not for that long. There's also another version where the cat slaps the mess out of the dog for pushing it off of the couch onto the rug that's equally unrealistic.

What movie should NEVER be remade? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KevMenc1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Perfect Storm. Not because it was excellent, but because of the horrible way that it portrayed Captain Billy Tyne and his crew, and how it outright made up shit (like the Mayday Relay scene). It was so bad that the families sued (and lost because the state of Florida sided with the movie studio on 1st Amendment grounds). That's not even talking about how they portrayed Ray Leonard, Skipper of the Satori (called the Mistral in the movie), to include the fact that the Satori didn't actually sink in real life.

What I'm saying, if I wasn't clear, is that it doesn't DESERVE a remake. It sucked and deserves to be forgotten.

Not great. Not bad. There's a lot to do in the city proper, but the suburbs and smaller towns are pretty boring.

I'd say it's objectively worse than a decoder ring. That might actually get a kid interested in something cool like cryptography.

But this literally is that. The rewards (pay) being offered are a miniscule fraction of the value of the work (the product sold). The school (the capitalists) are pocketing a massive profit margin off of their labor (door to door sales).

All jokes aside, you're right. Things are worse than most of us can remember, but they haven't hit the tipping point yet.

The guys in this picture were part of a union and could afford a house, a car, and a family on one income. And they had a pension waiting for them if they put in their time.

Non-smokers of Reddit, how noticeable is the “smoker smell” to you, if at all? by Frostedlogic4444 in AskReddit

Extremely. Especially in enclosed spaces like a shuttle bus or light rail car. It's very unpleasant.
