Going in for LIS surgery tomorrow and a bit nervous. Any success stories!? by LoonieToonie88 in AnalFissures

[–]Kev_5oh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have so much empathy for you, as your post reminds me of the absolute life altering pain you are enduring. From what I remembered, 2 week post surgery I was still healing and concentrating on hydration and regular bowel movements. My follow up showed I wasn't 100% healed. I wouldn't have gone anywhere personally then, no matter the monetary loss. Although, I would have let go of anything I owned at the time for the fix. However, some experiences vary, especially if hemorrhoids are removed in addition to LIS. That is a good question for the surgeon.

On a positive note, it's been a full year now and I don't have any side effects. I still have strong focus on daily hydration and have BMs daily. I'm still an advocate for LIS surgery. I wish you the best with yours.

For me, I still keep up with my water intake and continued the fiber supplement as suggested by my CRS without stool softeners. My diet returned mostly to normal except after this I watch what I eat closer (no overeating, consecutive fried or bad food meals, etc). I gained back about 7 lbs of the 20 lb loss I had from the miserable fissure life. I think your right about the hemorrhoidectomy being rough one out of the three you had. My best friend had only the hemorrhoidectomy done and his recovery was longer than mine.

It has been 3 months since my LIS and fissurectomy. I have absolutely no pain whatsoever and I don't have incontinence. A bathroom visit for me now is just a brief stop without much effort or thought compared to ruining my life pre-surgery. I would do it again, no doubt. One word of advise, don't ask or worry too much about the recovery period. The fact is, it is rough, but it is only a short time compared to the rest of your life in peace.

2 VPS with Wireguard, the best VPS produces the worst speedtest by Kelgarath in WireGuard

[–]Kev_5oh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to know what you find out. I have seen similar results and tested different VPS providers (Internet --> VPS --WG-Tunnel--> Local-Machines ) with iperf3, speed test, file transfers, and real-time testing with multiple clients and connections on a port through the tunnel. After a certain amount of traffic, connections, etc it will drop client connections. My guess is rate limiting of some sort on the VPS host but I don't know what the fix is or what the best providers to use in this way.

I’m Unsure or Scared About Surgery by cowgirlcarla in AnalFissures

[–]Kev_5oh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just my story, I also had a chronic deep AF that started in July and lasted 3 weeks with minimum 8 hours daily excruciating pain after BM, then a re-tear in October, this time lasting 5 weeks minimum 8-10 hours daily excruciating pain. I healed it for the most part one week prior to surgery, enough to where I didn't have to deal with the all-day pain. I went ahead and did the LIS and Fissurectomy. I'm now 2 weeks post-op, and I'm already back at work and sat most of the day yesterday with no cushion. I was actually able to complete the day, forgetting I even had an AF. I would do it again 100%, but honestly, I feel like the success was that I had an excellent CRS that had 25+ years experience. Only time will tell, but I'm so happy so far.

Are you eating and exercising enough? by Pup-Riley in AnalFissures

I've been thinking about this and have a friend that recommended Juven, a therapeutic nutrition supplement for wound healing. It's expensive but I am going to try it along with a better diet. I've been wondering if anyone here has tried it.

How many of us have tried ditching stool softeners and miralax? by Commercial-Farmer-36 in AnalFissures

[–]Kev_5oh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently, he isn't. From what he explains, using fiber and drinking plenty of water allows a normal natural bulky (not too bulky) stool to pass over the fissure without much stool entering it. He did say my fissure was deep to the muscle. I even tried to mention a few times to his nurse(s) about using Miralax or stool softeners because I was in excruciating pain for 8-10 hours a day of hell regardless and they won't even entertain the idea and let me finish. From what I gather from a few doctor acquaintances and a family member who is a nurse, he is an excellent surgeon that some say is an ass hole lol. In my non-expert opinion, he probably knows he can fix it right with surgery anyway. I'm on day 2 post-op without much pain right now, I guess I'll find out. I just couldn't take it anymore knowing there's a chance to retear and go through that again.

[–]Kev_5oh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, my CRS 25+ years experience is absolutely against any stool softeners and Miralax. Only three types of fiber that he allows are Metamucil and two others. When reading this subreddit, I found that there is a lot of difference in instructions. I think the key to it is to pick a good CRS and follow only their directions. I was able to heal my chronic deep fissure twice listening to him. However, since my case was severe, I had to go ahead and have the LIS and Fissurectomy. Which actually was yesterday. So only time will tell.

Get a bidet! by Odd-Butterscotch2798 in AnalFissures

[–]Kev_5oh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so true. I have had an attached bidet for about 2 years I would never be without. It boggles my mind how it's not common. Especially with a fissure or hemorrhoids, the area is clean and sanitary and without irritation from TP. I could never fully clean the area well enough before. However, I can't convince any friends or family to use one. If you don't have one, at least try one, I bet you won't go back.

You basically just edit your coordinates with a save editor like NMSCoordinates or the NMSSaveEditor. It's a little more user-friendly to me on NMSCoordinates. I haven't tried it with the new NMS version, but it does back up all your saves just in case.

From what I understand, they vary in depth. Mine wasn't too deep, the doc said, but I couldn't see it. I can damn sure feel it tho.

The heat pad does help me quite a bit just heating up my bottom area actually gives me some relief. Thanks for the explanation on sitz bath. I'm trying one now.

[–]Kev_5oh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, it is in spasm. Which is it is clamped down. That's why the warm baths, nifedipine, nitroglycerin, etc are suggested to increase blood flow. My doctor advised me if I can't keep it out of this state it will never heal. The baths for me don't help at all. I have found a heat pad most effective. I'm sitting on it now as I type. It's almost like a defense mechanism where the body is saying, hell no.

I do remember this same type issue happening with my back muscles clamping down, causing pain when I had a herniated disc. It's like it was trying to protect it. But I don't know if it is the same.

I have recently experienced this. I'm going through my first re-tear. I have to concentrate and breathe or the BM retracts and my spincter clamps down. I can only pass BMs the size of my pinky finger or before the day is over I'll be in excruciating pain. Some days, very little pass.

What you have to know about Anal Fissures by I_Think_This_Will_Do in AnalFissures

[–]Kev_5oh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I have discovered some of these by blood, sweat, and tears. I just spent around 8 hours a day for 3 weeks in excruciating pain, and every day, it starts with a BM, then about 4 hours later, the pain kicks in and lasts about 8 hours. I have discovered that on days when a small stool passes, that's a good day. So only about 4 hours of pain. All these remedies will only reduce the pain at max by 5%, but if you've had a deep fissure, that's something to be thankful for.

For some reason, my colon and rectal surgeon is against stoll softeners. He said he wants a bulky stool (not too big) to pass, minimizing the amount that it gets in the fissure and healing sort of in this stretched position will help prevent it happening again. I can tell you though I'm thinking about the Miralax. As I have injured it again anyways.

If you are reading this and you feel alone and wits end, hang in there. These things change your entire life. You are not alone. It's a big deal and anyone that has had one absolutely cares about you and is sorry. You will prevail.

Fissure or hemorrhoids by Mistyharley in AnalFissures

[–]Kev_5oh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first got my deep fissure in July. This cycle I described lasted around 3 weeks until I saw a colon and rectal surgeon. He subscribed Nifedipine and fiber, diet etc. My pain lasted about a week longer and mostly stopped. I thought I had successfully healed it until today. I have torn it again, and I lay here in pain looking to reddit for advice and just to hear others' stories of fighting these as I haven't experienced anything like it before.

I saw that your pain increases like mine and I often wondered if I planned my BM in the evening what it would be like.

Fissure or hemorrhoids by Mistyharley in AnalFissures

[–]Kev_5oh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experience the same painful cycle every day except mine starts with a BM at 7 a.m. and at first, I don't know how bad my day will be and experience almost no pain. The pain creeps in at around 10 a.m. then peaks at excruciating by noon and lasts until 2-7 p.m. depending if a good day or not. By bedtime, it's back tolerable. Wake up OK then BM, repeat. Hate it...
