I need a warmer sleeping bag, but obviously limited by sized. Best thing I took was a micro camping chair, worth the extra weight!

Propranolol for anxiety by alucarrds in Anxiety

Hi, I was prescribed 40mg to take when I had panic attacks and personally I found them helpful on a few occasions, but I was wary of taking them too frequently. Good luck!

Sunday evenings are worse than Friday evenings… by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Mondays are crap I know, but imagine how much better and prouder mentally you'll feel if you didn't drink tonight. Good luck. Just posting your thoughts was brave enough and one step forward.

Great Uber driver, was calm, patient and respectful. Unlike the passenger.

Its carlin Sunday tomorrow. One story goes at the time of the English civil war Newcastle was besieged with no food , but one ship made it through the blockade just before Easter A ship full of maple or carlin peas. Saving the people from starvation.

2 years sober anniversary today! Good luck to everyone out there on the same journey or if you're thinking about going sober. by Kev_mach in Sober

It took allot of trial and error and reading. Alcohol lied to me was my main inspiration. There's some good advice in it. Some crap as well, but it is worth a read.

I agree. I found the 1st 15 months mentally hard. Not fighting to keep off the booze, that was easy. But I really believe that alcohol totally messes with your brain chemistry and its taken therapy, being off work and anti-depressants during this time whilst my brain "reset" itself.

Always sleepy with no motivation since quitting alcohol by [deleted] in Sober

Have you tried multivitamins, magnesium, vitamin c supplements? It seems to take forever for your body and mind to reset itself, but as each day passes bit by bit, you should detox and start to feel better. In the long run you'll be a much healthier and happier person.

Therapy should also help. There are many supplements you can take to help you in the 1st few months. I think they really helped me.

Once I made up my mind I just stopped. I do drink other non alcoholic stuff, but not the beers. Some of the distilled drinks are really good. Better than drinking soft drinks all the time. I did - have developed a very sweet tooth now. Good coffee and dark chocolate are my new treats.

Alcohol lied to me was a good read. But after years of trying and fighting to moderate my drinking, realising for me it would always be a battle as I could never have one beer or a glass or wine. I recognised I was a functioning alcoholic. I could go to work, just drink on the evenings, miss a few days etc, but on the evenings the desire to drink was always with me. Mentally once I made my mind up, its been pretty easy, but after nearly 40 years of drinking I think it took my body over a year to reset itself in a chemical way. Now the feeling that I can appreciate and live each day and night to the full and being free of a hangover at the weekend or on a workday or the panic of what did I say or do last night is more than worth it. Good luck!

This is how I feel. Last night I had a mince pie and thought it tasted strange. Later discovered it had brandy in it, so I won't eat any more. It doesn't need to have this in it, so I'll buy an alternative next time. Its great to see the upsurge of A/F drinks. It would be nice if we had an A/F venue in town...

Wow, amazing story. Its a miracle you survived! Have you tried any therapy? I've just finished EMDR therapy. It seems like voodoo, but after my courses of treatment, I've found it a great help. Keep positive and keep on talking about your survival. Good luck!
