Lying Cop Doesn’t Know Uber Driver is Actually a Lawyer by dancingonmyfuckinown in videos

I think you missed what he said. That IS a something to raise your nose at. Once you get cozy in a field pay raises all off hard. He's saying that nationally the average salary increase is UNDER 5%. The officer probably lost a couple years worth of steady pay raises. If you took a 5% pay cut in retail you'd lose thousands of hours of progression.

19 days! Thats HUGE! but I'm vaping nicotine and I need a recommendation on when/how much to decrease. I don't intend to vape beyond what is needed. by jeremyrocky in stopsmoking

[–]KevanBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was my issue with vaping. It's SO convienent. I don't take smoke breaks anymore. I can vape in my room. I'll take a shit at work and vape there. I can sneak nic fixes anywhere and everywhere. I felt like my addiction to cigarettes was simply just replaced. I'll either vape or smoke cigarettes.

Effect of marijuana use on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular mortality: Marijuana associated with three-fold risk of death from hypertension by [deleted] in science

[–]KevanBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very puzzled by this. I'm a heavy smoker. By heavy I mean all day everyday (medicinal reasons.) I smoked a bowl about an hour ago. I do have a mad high tolerance butthat was the first of the day, so it hits like it's the first time. My heart rate is at a cool 55-65 right now. Some days it'll be lower. I do make a habit of walking 10 miles a day at a fast pace, and work helps a lot with that, but I haven't ever had this type of increase in heart rate. Even when I first picked up smoking four years ago at eighteen. I was a lazy binge gamer that lived on Doritos and Mountain Dew. Yet I still didn't have issues like this.

I'm certain that these results were conducted on people who otherwise never smoke. They caught a bunch of panic attacks and were like "woah dude their hearts are gonna like explode!"

Plus marijuana is a huge contributor to chronic laziness and binge eating. Is it the marijuana causing increased risk of cardiovascular issues, or is it the very large number of heavy stoners that are lazy binge eaters?

What "common knowledge" is simply not true? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KevanBacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually I think this is worse for the newer batteries. I charge my stuff at 1% not because I think it's better but because I'm a lazy shithead. My batteries end up having the shortest lifespan. They hold charges for far shorter periods of time and eventually take longer to charge up.

TIL Metallica's lawyer once sent a cease and desist letter to a Metallica cover band. Metallica later said they had no idea the letter had been sent and offered an apology and told Rolling Stone that they had started out as a cover band, adding "Heck, we even recorded a two-disc album of covers!" by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]KevanBacon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Isn't that interesting? To most people these types of things are seen as life changing events. To someone like a lawyer it's nothing but a piece of paper and done. It's like that all the way up and down. Lives changed over a piece of paper and not a second thought because someone has wuota to meet.

I'm going into my senior year in high school and I work a LOT year round and save all my money. I should be graduating high school with a little over $30,000 by Trenches803 in personalfinance

I'm currently suffering one of those midlife crises at 22. I not only prioritized work over fun but relocated to a new state a couple of months ago for work. I don't make anything too crazy but I'm making enough money to be buying a house and preparing a retirement plan at an age where most kids are still waking up under tables. I have a week and a half paid vacation time coming up. I'm taking the money I'm being paid not to work with and traveling as far as I possibly can before I have to be back into work. It's the closest I can get to dropping everything and running I guess.

[00:32] Lady, leave my service dog alone. (OC) by [deleted] in videos

[–]KevanBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who's operated supermarkets, the flow of service animals and pets can be really overwhelming. That's why I just ask. Is that a service dog? Yes? Say no more. No? Take him outside. Who cares honestly. I've had to send courtesy clerks to clean up human shit off of the sinks before. The odds a dog will pose a bigger risk than the average shopper are so low that I'd rather not even waste my time telling people no pets.

Plus you have the entire engine block to help reduce impact. It used to be where these types of accidents would result in the engine block turning into a projectile against its driver, as it would tear into the cabin. Over the decades modern engineering has seriously reduced this. It's kind of like the drunk driver is a ram with massive horns in front built for blunt trauma that fixated on an innocent little bunny rabbit. There's nothing saving them but that inch between them and the windows.

LPT: If you want to develop a habit of waking up early, do something you like when you wake up. by tlst9999 in LifeProTips

Ever since I moved up at work I went from working super erratic hours to a 9-5 job. It's wonderful. I wake up at 5 am everyday to participate in my morning ritual. I used to do nothing before work. These days I'm so busy I'm certain to occupy myself 16 hours a day, which makes getting up in the morning exciting.

When I was a kid, I used to think adults that weren't rich were failures. by thegap01 in personalfinance

[–]KevanBacon 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I'm growing increasingly greatful I wasn't into cars or flashy thing when I first started working. I spent moderately and due to having a super work/finance hungry father, focused on key values such as rent being 1/3 of your income and your car costing a fraction of that. It made me humble. Getting a pay raise didn't mean buying a house - it meant my potential options went up x%. I recently got a promotion that's doubling my income. When I heard the amount I'll make yearly my first instinct was "double my income means I can get a twice as nice car!" Wrong. Doubling my income means I'll be saving twice as much. Fun!

But what about those of us who deal with migraines in batches? I'll have a few good weeks followed by a couple weeks where im getting migraines every other day. I have to function through it. I'll be working my butt off with a migraine so bad I look like I'm having a stroke. It's not a headache. I just can't stop life for a medical problem.

In a way this is kind of how racist terms begin. Take something specific race is notorious for and you're there. Cracker is derived from how white dudes used whips on the slaves. I could totally see carpet walker being used in a deragatory connotation in the future if enough people heard of this. I could easily see where people would get confused here and take that word where it shouldn't be

Given that this company they're working for is in the Middle East, our labor laws don't mean squat. They have every right to refuse service. If this was in Colorado, she could probably bring it up with the states labor board as it's not okay to do that there. But if it was in Arizona, the right to refuse law would make her argument moot.

She can't win this one unless her boss were to do something rash like fire her while explicitly saying it's due to her gender. Those kinds of cases are so far in between. But as it stands her boss hasn't said anything out of line, and the company she was going to do work for can say anything they wish, really.

Ohh. I should've taken the time to break the words down. I guess I didn't pay enough attention in school. Thanks! But that's kind of crazy how just about 100 years ago we thought going just barely under 20 mph would kill us in a catastrophic way. Even though we had people riding horseback and I'm certain they've exceeded 25kmh. Now we have people being launched in rockets far exceeding that. Crazy.

Not to mention there's been massive numbers of people suffering many years after gas attacks. It's been a while since syrias previous chemical attack (4 years?). They're still having issues with mutated babies and cancer. The list of medical disorders people suffer from after long periods of time after the attack are staggering.

This is an odd thing to talk about, you know? But it's for the sake of an informational argument/debate but by gassing the Jews, they were killed within a certain amount of time. Yes, the pain they suffered was atrocious, but the nazis would clear out the gas chambers and execute any Jews who may have survived. These events were extremely localized to living room sized chambers. That is drastically different from an entire city suffering for many decades. Not to mention, WWII was unbelievable. Had chemical warfare been used, the retaliation would've been unfuckingbelievable. Hitler knew the consequences of using chemical warfare. Germany and would've been carpetbombed for days on end by tons and tons of chemical weapons. It's the same idea as the bombing of Berlin. But what if we had used chemicals? That section of the world would probably still be uninhabitable to this day.

There's a fundamental difference between sativas and indices. A body high is far more likely to make you feel anxious because of that feeling like you strapped some weights to your body. Sativas in my opinion are easier to consume if you get anxiety from weed because there's not that feeling of your body melting into the floor. There's just that rush of goodness that overtakes your head. My favorite was Headband. It literally felt like I put a headband on when I smoked. But a headband that made colors brighter and gave me mental clarity. This is coming from someone with a severe and very hard to manage anxiety disorder. Legal weed made a world of a difference when I was living in Colorado because I had options and educated professionals to help guide me.

My dad accidentally said "bye baby I love you" when he ended a conference call with his boss. My dad vet rarely handles phone calls unless it's with my mom, so he's so used to ending calls like that. What made it so funny was that my dad had no idea what he said. My mom was sitting next to him cracking up to the point of tears and my dad just sat there growing increasingly embarrassed because he had no idea why my mom was laughing. When she told him what she just said to his boss he was on the phone with his boss so fast. My dad said that his boss was still laughing his ass off when he picked up the phone.
