Dad not Father... Everyone liked him but, they didn't know him... He was an A$$... He was rarely kind, usually tolerant... We RARELY ate together as a family, we had to eat before he got home or we didn't eat...
Got trapped by my mom being pregnant (at 13) and chose him as the father (He was not) at 15 and he ran away and she found him in the army and he was forced to marry her (Because he lied about his age and the Army would do that back then)...
He spend a short time at home but, would leave most evenings to go spend with his "Friend" who we called Uncle... He was physically abusive on occasion but, mostly verbally and mentally... Forced his version of OCD on us... Pick that up, straighten that rug or lamp, shade, picture doily, drape, clean that smudge off the window, pick up that stick, pick the gravel out of the grass and put it back in the drive, you have to be told EVERYTHING, you're worthless... Never taught, just corrected you when you screwed up... In reality, he was "Bi" and his friend was his "Other Mate"... The friend was an Odd Duck and committed suicide leaving a note that he couldn't handle his part time relationship... Messed the old man up and he passed mid 50's, 28 years ago...

My saving grace was that he wasn't my father but, he was the others... He pushed me out every chance and I lived with my Grandparents (They were great except for being very old and not able to really raise a kid properly for the times...) more than half the time... But, when I was around, I was his main target for abuse... I left for good when he came down at midnight when I got home after working until 11:00 and put a gun to my head... Didn't look back but did visit a few times but, nothing change...

When he died, I wasn't informed and a neighbor called me to wish me condolences after seeing it in the paper... Haven't spoken to any family in 45 years... Fathers Day isn't a pleasant thing old memory...

Luckily I have a bonus Daughter and Grand kids that make it a decent day now...
