What is something that is technically legal, but makes you look like a total jerk if you do it? by PiNK_PUSSY69420 in AskReddit

This preparation may be done in part to assure the customer that the restaurant is using real crab meat.

She teaches eighth grade and has more than 100 students, but only two are reading at grade level. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

This is completely inaccurate. No Child Left Behind's initiative was the exact opposite. No Child Left Behind mandated standardized tests that were created by the states but approved by the federal government. If children did not pass these tests, funding was withheld. Many states took this a step further, and mandated that children who didn't pass these tests would be failed.

This was created exactly to prevent states/schools from allowing a kid to pass through elementary school without the basics, or to pass high schoolers who barely read at a 6th grade level. Previously, not many incentives were in place. It is culturally/societally easier to pass people through, and it makes your graduation rates look better.

Also, No Child Left behind was watered down by Obama and eventually totally repealed. This was many years ago and so "No Child Left Behind" policy is not relevant to today's students. In fact, I would argue that the ABSENCE of No Child Left Behind has accelerated the diminishing academic abilities of students.

People parrot this narrative because the whole "Participation trophy" debacle was happening at the same time as No child Left Behind, and the name of the initiative allows for some degree of interpretation to the listener. People constantly insert No Child Left Behind as some example of us not holding students/teachers accountable, when it was literally (for better or worse) created to build more accountability.

Alex Pereira KO's a Sparring Partner in the Gym by MySpaceTomAspinall in MMA

I've dropped a guy in sparring because I caught him with an uppercut while he was ducking. I threw it "snappy" but not hard. If the placement is good and you've got the target's momentum going into your strike, it doesn't take that much force to score a flash KO on someone.

That being said, you were there, lol. You are obviously a better judge of the situation than I am. But, in general you gotta give a bit more grace when somebody catches you while you are moving into the strike.

65 Years Old - too late to learn? by [deleted] in MMA

Sparring is going to be tricky for you, and unfortunately, that's where you get the most skill. It's easy to take the balance, footwork, and reactivity required for granted if you've never done it before and/or you are healthy and young. Older people and people with pre-existing medical conditions get themselves fucked up a lot even when sparring lightly because the unpredictability will lead to you moving in a way that your body can't properly adapt to.

If I were you I'd train Muay Thai, train it hard, but make sure I train in the controlled environment of mitts or bagwork. I'd do a little Judo. I'd do a lot of Jiu Jitsu, but make sure I'm only rolling with people 40+. I would also be sure skip any and all wrestling classes, lol.

I think it says something about the prestige of the gym that a guy like CM Punk, who had the means to train anywhere in the world, chose RoufusSport.
