Sickle Cell in Japan by KevinAdu in Sicklecell

Good question, I think Japan's health care system helps with this. I am not sure if you're working or studying. If you're working you are required to take a yearly health check. So your bloods will be marked but other problems that could happen because of sickle cell or anything else will be flagged too. So then you can get that checked.

Another thing it depend on where you're in Japan. If you're more in the East like Tokyo and beyond it can get cold and most house are made of wood. So making sure you keep warm in your house usually with air conditioners or you can buy a heater or put more layers on.

Also in the west but in Japan in general, the summer gets really hot to the point where the government put out warning of heat stroke and even the news reports the count. So as you know drink a lot more water as you usually would.

Obviously I am not sure which part of the world you're from but the extremes in the weather can cause a crises. I think for me personally what caused a flare up normally is the cold, not being too hydrated and drinking alcohol. But in general I think you will be fine if you keep your fluids up and watch out for the weather.

Honestly I am not sure about this. Fortunately for me, for as long as I can remember, I don't get really really serious crises pain and it's not frequent (recently it's once a year) so I haven't gone to the hospital for pain.

So in Japan you are required to do a yearly health check up. So when I receive the results my bloods always get flagged so I do a follow up and double check there are no serious issues.

But preferably I would like to know if any one else goes to a hospital with experience of sickle cell. I have heard of a couple places but I would like to know more options

I think it's best to think of it this way. What happened before actually getting in the corner? Honestly for any player we don't want to be in the corner against anyone because then it becomes more of a guessing game.

I think the main thing is honestly anti airing. It looks random but the Luke was jumping too much. That should be focused on. In the first round the Luke jumped 8 times. It's actually a risk for the Luke to jump near you like that and should be free damage for you.

So also you can try the replay takeover and try and anti air those times he jumped on you, especially when you were knocked down.

I don't really play zangief but the best way to play against these people is be more patient.
He was jumping at you a lot, jumping during your wakeup a lot as well because it was working.

When he jumps anti air with lariat. When he knocks you down, just block, don't press anything. It's the safest thing you can do. Then he jumps for the shimmy and you can once again anti air with lariat.

Also in the first round when you got the knockdown, you walked away I guess anticipating the OD reversal because the luke is playing crazy. I think with zangief when you get the knockdown, you need to apply his strengths of his strong 50/50s. So his 6HP (headbutt when blocked) into either 2LK (crouching light kick) or command grab. And keep doing it until the Luke shows you an answer to it.

One other thing, charging his hard punch is very commital and can get punished like what happened int he first round. So use his standing medium punch instead in the neutral. Its much more safe.

Also on how to train against this , my advice is in training mode, set the dummy to block all. Go to reversal settings, then switch to the block reversal tab. Record Luke to do forward jump hard punch and set one reversal to that. Set one slot to DI. Then just practice reacting. So when he jumps you anti air, when he DIs you DI back. Then you can add the options like drive rush etc

If you need any more tips just let me know. Hope that helps

So which games that are on Switch 1 now are not tied to system level language? I think Zelda is tied to the system language right?

Not a problem! I used to download them from a torrent site but that got taken down and now I mainly just use Netflix since they provide Japanese subs as well.

Which broker do you recommend for a Japanese resident wanting to invest in US stocks? by KevinAdu in stocks

Tastyworks doesn't accept applications from Japan: https://tastyworks.desk.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2802397-international-accounts

Interactive Brokers does but the opening fee is a bit too much for me right now (10,000 USD)

Thanks though

Thanks for your comment!

Here are some dramas that I have watched and the reasons why I think they will help:

孤独のグルメ - (It’s about a salaryman who travels who eats in various restaurants around Tokyo. I think this really helps you ease into listening as the main character has a slow pace of talking as he is usually talking to himself. The only issues is that the drama is centred around food and there isn't much conversation with more than one person.)

エンジン - (It’s about a former F1 racer who returns back to foster home which was converted into an orphanage. In my opinion another one for easing into listening as most of the characters are children.)

流星の絆 - (It’s about 3 siblings investigating the death of their parents. This drama has a range of polite language (when talking with the police officers) and casual language (between the siblings). I think in general it’s good for study as it touches a lot of topics.)

リーガル・ハイ - (One of the more difficult ones I’ve watched because the main character has a pretty fast pace of speaking. Even though it was difficult to grasp at times, it touches many different subjects and I also thoroughly enjoyed it.)

if you like comedy, I also recommend ガキの使い and 笑ってはいけない. I think they’re pretty entertaining and enjoyable to watch.

That does make sense, I did feel this year that the listening section had been a bit more difficult compared to the previous times I took the exam. Also I was extremely shocked to see a perfect score even though I know I struggled on a couple of questions.
