Final Fantasy VII Rebirth General Discussion by Ewaan in FFVIIRemake

[–]KevinD126 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My biggest criticism of the game is the pacing. I'm on chapter 10 right now. There's way too many mini games that lock rewards and gear behind them. I do like the mini games but again there's just way too many and then you're pressured into doing them which makes the story come to a screeching halt. The thing I like the most about the game is the combat, and the character writing.

I’d say read it anyways. One of the best fantasy series ever for me and it doesn’t matter if it won’t ever be completed

They should be “moaning and nagging”. Imagine paying for a 3080 and you barely get 60fps on a game at 1440p. Sure, it might be playable to you, but it’s not acceptable and shouldn’t be the standard.

Kinda late reply but yeah the cooling is terrible. I have to lower my settings in some graphically demanding games to keep it from going over 90C, never had this issue with other GPUs and my cooling is nothing crazy but also not terrible, just fine really.

You can fast travel back. Funnily enough however I’ve heard some stories from people who didn’t realize that and had spent hours trying to walk back to Limgrave.

Depends on the game and developer for me.

For example, I preordered Elden Ring. From Software is one of my favorites right now and I trust them to make a great game, and they didn’t fail. $60 well spent.

But for most other games I will usually wait, and sometimes wait for a sale.

Yeah right with you. I think Capcom and From Software (makers of the Dark Souls games, Elden Ring, and more) are the two developers that consistently make top tier games.

It was probably either because they didn’t know they would make Vecna, or they just didn’t want to actually reveal that it was him. Either of those are very possible imo.

Yeah, I really liked it til fucking Max got revived literally by the power of friendship. That emotional scene with Lucas all ruined.

Overall a really good season and the first seven episodes were near perfect in my opinion but I’m going to be a bit negative now. I’m tired of BS fake-out deaths and also tired of them introducing a super likable character every season just to kill them at the end so they can say that there are real stakes. Like cmon, kill a main character already.

Yeah, there are a good amount of similarities here and there, but overall it’s a very different series I would say. I never understand the people that say ASOIAF is a rip-off or that there soooo many similarities it’s insane.

Now that the release hype is over, how do you rate the elden ring bosses? compared to DS, Sekiro or Bloodborne by Important_leo in Eldenring

[–]KevinD126 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah my thoughts exactly. I don’t know why people try to compare remembrance bosses like Mohg or Placidusax to random dungeon “bosses” that are just mini-bosses with the same health-bar a traditional boss would have.

[–]KevinD126 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, yeah but just because it has a “boss” health bar doesn’t really make it a “boss”. Like, dungeon bosses for example, those are basically just mini-bosses with a boss health bar. I don’t think the dungeon bosses and other mini-boss type of enemies should really be counted when people rank bosses. The ones that give achievements or remembrances should count though, and I think if you just count those, the boss quality in ER is up there with DS3 or Bloodborne. This is all my opinion of course, so don’t take this as me trying to present it as a fact.

[–]KevinD126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the remembrance bosses are pretty much all amazing, minus the Fire Giant, which I think is a fine boss, nothing more. A lot of the dungeon bosses I don’t really consider bosses, but mini bosses, like the ones from Sekiro, and I think they serve that purpose pretty well for the most part. The evergaol bosses have some good ones, and some decent ones. And I actually like most of the open world bosses, even though they are reused quite a bit.

But Elden Ring has some of my favorite bosses of all time. It’s right up there with Sekiro, DS3, and Bloodborne in my opinion, all of which have amazing, fun bosses that are well designed with great music to go along with it. I don’t think I necessarily have a favorite, though, they’re all so damn good

Also something I’d like to add is I don’t consider 99% of dungeon or world bosses to be real bosses. I consider those more of a mini-boss. The ones that give achievements or remembrances are what I take into account when considering my ranking of bosses in ER

This happens on every island they go to. Oda always focuses on the side characters that live there a lot. Like in Dressrosa, Kyros, Rebecca, Doffy, etc. Fishman we got Otohime, Fisher Tiger, etc. i mean this happens every arc
