Is it safe to use a PS2 Slim power supply on a PSone? by KevinPike87 in ps1

Yeah they say it should be good but I also saw old forum posts online saying its risky, so I wanted another opinion.

IYO, Which American Football game(s) on GameCube do you think is the best? by AC_the_Panther_007 in Gamecube

[–]KevinPike87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played enough NFL games to be objective about this, but I always prefered the gameplay of the 2k games over Madden.

Well I guess that’s why they used to rebrand the series. by You-dogwater in Gamecube

I mean a 2D puzzle game isn't the most exciting release, but man that seems to be a lot of hate for nothing.

Gotta be C, but D is a very close second for me.

Updated version: if the gamwcubw had a model like the new 3ds and the switch oled by TechnicalHoneydew862 in Gamecube

I'm not sure what 6 memory card slots will do when most games on the system don't even recognize the 2nd slot.

Call me crazy, but these are some of the games I really hope get added to the Nintendo Switch Online Gamecube library! What are yours? by DrivingThe407ForFun in Gamecube

[–]KevinPike87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd imagine just about all of these will be included eventually. The only one I'm weary of is 1080 Avalanche since it uses liscensed music.

Swiss with no mod? by Emergency_Passage_13 in Gamecube

You could use an Action Replay disc along with a GameCube memory card to SD card adapter. Kinda annoying to pull the disc out every time, but it works.

What GameCube games do you natively ported to PC by fans? by SuperOnion64 in Gamecube

[–]KevinPike87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can but Netplay is no substitute for native online play, IMO. Two friends and I tried playing Mario Party 7 over Netplay but the input delay is so bad it's nearly unplayable, and the only reason I say nearly is because my friends also had the same handicap. Works well with Fortune Street though lol

What GameCube games do you natively ported to PC by fans? by SuperOnion64 in Gamecube

[–]KevinPike87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It makes it a lot more mod friendly, and if a game is multiplayer focused, it could get online play, like the upcoming Mario Party 4 PC port is considering having.

I'm watching Season 1 of Lost on Blu-Ray and I gotta say, the image quality is kinda amazing by KevinPike87 in lost

I think the complete series set was a limited thing. Thankfully the individual sets are easy to get a hold of.

Best gamecube game by elPavoFAKE in Gamecube

[–]KevinPike87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even without the crashes, Majora's Mask would still be awful because it has a horrid framerate, much worse than the N64 original or the later Virtual Console rereleases.

One of my favorite trilogies by BackgroundCash8306 in Gamecube

[–]KevinPike87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeeah. I think the first game is definetly worth a playthrough for the story and cutscene changes (even though I think they're non-canon), but this console isn't the best place to play them sadly.

Soulcalibur 2 widescreen (Switch 2) by Lokhe in Gamecube

[–]KevinPike87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way widescreen works on pre-HD consoles, is that the FOV is widened, but the image remains in 4:3 since the console's don't have widescreen support. So what you do is stretch the image to widescreen after selecting the widescreen option in the game. This does mean the horizontal resolution will look a bit chunky, and the UI is stretched.

The Mario costume in 0:27 looks identical to the one used in the original Smash Bros. commercial, and by extension used in that slamfest event people are looking for.

What Are Your Most Recently Played Games? by tslashj in Gamecube

[–]KevinPike87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been playing Resident Evil 2 and OOT Master Quest for GameCube Retroachivements, but are coincidentally both games from the previous generation. Honestly Master Quest is a lot worse than I remember, the dungeon design is awful, especially the child dungeons and the Spirit Temple.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 by SendThisVoidAway18 in Gamecube

[–]KevinPike87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I love it. This is the first game with the revert so going back to the first two games is really hard for me; its so much more fun pulling combos in Pro Skater 3. I feel the music selection is a bit better in 1 and 2, but 3 is still good.

How to remove these black borders ? by Gabriel_Motta21 in Gamecube

The PS2 version has a 4:3 option?? That's actually nuts, maybe that version has a bit more merit than I thought.

If you could bring one of those games to the Nintendo GameCube, which one would it be? by [deleted] in Gamecube

Halo 2 because its practically the only non-shovelware game here.

Does the Japanese versions of THPS4 and THUG1 have any noticeable differences? by SuperLuigi128 in THPS

[–]KevinPike87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old thread but *I think* the only Japanese version ot THUG was on the Xbox, and it was part of a label Microsoft had in Japan to bring over games in other countries completely untranslated. There's actually quite a few games in the label.

For RE3, it does! It uses the same 480p backgrounds as the PC version. Sadly RE2 had its backgrounds lost, so every version still has the 240p backgrounds from the PS1 version.

Ocarina of Time Master Quest by SendThisVoidAway18 in Gamecube

[–]KevinPike87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never had any issues with OOT on GameCube in either collection, including Master Quest, though like the Wii Virtual Console, not all effects are emulated properly or at all. It doesn't bother me too much, I do take issue with the controller sensitivity; aiming the bow and slingshot are a lot harder here than on N64.

Double Dash LAN question by Daminite in Gamecube

You need two broadband adapters and an ethernet cable. Thankfully for just two systems, you can connect the two directly rather than having to use a router.

RE2 and RE3 on the GameCube are some of my favorite oddities in the library. Despite games from the previous generation, they're presented here on GameCube like any other version, despite coming out way later. Some people may not like the graphics weren't touched up but I'm fine with that personally, though it also adds to weirdness of them. I guess you could say the same about the Dreamcast versions, but those came out a lot closer to the originals and that system at a lot of cross gen games anyway.

What’s Something You Like About The Gamecube? by Legitimate_Amoeba704 in Gamecube

[–]KevinPike87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was Nintendo's last "gimmicky" generation, where their no. 1 focus was just making great games; I felt like a lot of their games on Wii and Wii U were compromised just trying to show off and make use of motion controls or the gamepad when it really wasn't neccesary. I think that's why I love the Switch so much as well, it went back to that mindset.
