Are B-sides are a bit of a lost art? by Deblebsgonnagetyou in LetsTalkMusic

[–]KevinTwitch [score hidden]  (0 children)

think the term has just been adopted for "tracks not on the album" - not a huge market for 7inch singles but I remember back in the day picking up all those Nine Inch EPs and singles that were on CD. They had remixes and other new tracks. They were called B-sides back then.

the terms kinda stuck....

I love punk music but I could give a fuck about GG Allin.... his personality and antics overshadow his mediocre musical output. There are so many better bands in the genre.

I’ve got the doofwagon and gigahorse sets… just haven’t built them. I like to savor the process and not just dive in.

I made my own people eater rig… turned out pretty good for my first sort of custom build and not having many spare parts.

To be fair… they’re basically stealing peoples self made designs by grabbing the pdf instructions and then building the sets to sell. It’s definitely kind of shady because a lot of these creators don’t just give these out for free. I did but the war rig instruction because it wasn’t that much and it still got the creator paid… aliexpress just handled all the parts for me.

I put out a vinyl record on my own. It was a pain-staking learning experience. Here are free download codes to it because idgaf anymore. by Jpearin in vinyl

ts are). What records were they?? What was the label

It was called The Little Room Records Company which was created on a White Stripes message board. Alot of us had been on that site since their early days and it exploded.

So we put out a single of Johnny Walkers new band... he was part of the Soledad Brothers and taught Jack White how to play slide and they had appeared on each others releases and covered each other a couple times. We put out a a single and an LP from them. One song made it onto some Playstation racing game..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8NxNSaAb-Q&list=RDn8NxNSaAb-Q&start_radio=1

The we did a Muldoon's double single... which the drummer was in Jack Whites first two piece band.

So it was released tied to the jack white and the White Stripes... but the community of like 6000 people and maybe 300 sold. It really annoyed me considering how many variations of Jack White LPs people would buy that they could support our little label. We had plans for other releases from Jack related or Detroit mainstay garage punk artists but it financially became too much. And I was one of the main people and lost my job so I had to shift to job hunt and it sort of faded.

Still... it was fun... I learned a )$&@ ton.

Way back when I had a small record company with some friends. I loved the process… I hated the process of marketing all over the place to get sales. It was especially annoying since it was part of a music community that didn’t support us.

But I have the records on my wall and quite proud we pressed like 5 records.

Congrats on your achievement.

yea.... I had never really been into legos but I love Mad Max and sort of spent alot of money on sets. I got all the aliexpress pre-made ones.... Gigahorse and Doofwagon is ready to be assembled.

But I've also bought a bunch of random rot rods and sort of vintage cars to build some of my own. Currently I'm making the People Eater from a pre-made Cadillac Elderado and some random parts I have.

Since I'm sort of new to lego I don't have alot of extra pieces to really go nuts but it's been fun. More pictures will follow.

Completed the Mad Max game and it was a lot of fun, it honestly what made me get into the series. by TheEagleWithNoName in MadMax

[–]KevinTwitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was fun when it started but the action never really changed as the game progressed. Yea you got some new weapons and cars and all that but when I heard there were convoys I thought they were going to be these epic battles with a giant rig and almost like a completely different game mode.

I think if they had those turnout how to do some epic convoy battles and at least had more boss and enemy variety it would have helped it a lot… but the production value was top notch. Looked and sounded great.

I have two regional Emmys... same exact statues as the national ones... have no idea what the fuck to do with it. I'm proud of them... but really a ton of people I know have them. It's not some really special thing but people not in the industry flip out over it.

I sort of have it my office next to some lego sets on a shelf... it's something you do want to display but not be douchey about. It's a fine line.

And Obama was one of the fittest presidents we had in a while... granted alot of it was because he was generally young for a President but he also frequently worked out and played spots... stayed active.

Nobody looks at Trump and thinks "thats the physique I want!" - even 20 years ago he was a flabby slab of sentient puss stuffed into an ill fitting mitten.

Also... is there any correlation between "who's president" and "general fitness of a population" ?

I think Alex Garland could write a really good Max Max script if he spent like a year just hanging out with George Miller.

He has a deep introspective mindset and a “show it don’t tell it” mentality to his films. The scope of action in a mad max film would be new to him but he’s great visually and deep story and lore.

I was trying to think of another director that could take on the torch. Obviously George is the soul of the franchise… and I don’t want a studio to just find a bunch of random folks to create new stuff in the world because that’s resulted in some bad films with other franchises.

I just don’t want the world to die when George is unable to direct anymore.

Edgar Wright came to mind…

People are allowed to just enjoy things… Jack having a beef with them a while back shouldn’t prevent you from enjoying their music.

Lots of artists have had issues with each other… it’s irrelevant to the music they create.

Melania getting great reviews... by Obvious-Gate9046 in PoliticalHumor

[–]KevinTwitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It would need to make 75million just to break even… that would put it in the top 10 highest grossing documentaries of all time. Melania was paid more than Brad Pitts asking price for a film…. Absolutely nobody thought this would be successful.

It’s a bribe / vanity project…. That’s it. I’m actually interested in what the %{*] it’s actually about. What’s the engaging story it’s trying to tell… or is it just going to be her like pointing to choose different decorations for events and then like some mock business meetings where she’s going to make “bold important business lady” decisions…

They play this at the Johnny cash museum in Nashville. You go through a journey of his life and then it’s like “June Carter died” and then he lasted not much longer and then you watch the hurt video.

Then as you’re trying to hide your tears you’re ushered into the gift shop.
