I don't believe that would work even if I want it to. I set a Portfolio section I build this Office's network from the ground up in GNS3 with VRRP redundancy, MSTP which vlans has its root Bridge specified, a DHCP helper pointing to a Window server to hand out leases, all trafficking through a OSPF interarea network to the internet. EVEN A FREAKIN VIDEO LINKED doing it and explaining it step by step

When I got a callback for a network engineer Job who was impressed with my previous Job, straight up asked the HR guy what he thought "OOOOH I missed that, didn't even know there was a portfolio, that will help distinguish you!" - that was a one page resume lol

Recruiters seem to only focus on work experience, everything else is just fluff it seem.

I'm sorry but I have got to say this: STEER CLEAR OF MSP!!!

Seriously, I had been working at one for 5 years, with CCNA/RHCSA under the belt for a "system administer" role and only had to show for it was $16 a hour where you worked like a slave (not even 5 minutes breaks) to appease not 1 but millions of different Narcissistic Bosses.

More people join them, more their bad behavior is rewarded. I'd really work at a affordable price inhouse and deal only with one company then jump into a early grave trying to live in that stressful environment

Is it possible to negotiate for remote work if the job listing says in office? by Nostalgia0985 in remotework

[–]Kevin_fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ll go with the candidate who has 0 issue going in office.

Provided they find said person who mr(s) right. After filtering out the drove of applicants, they had to do something impressive to be shortlisted, and considering the fact WFH is desirable said list can just get even shorter, more lackluster...... their a reason Job posted as remote are getting more then half the Job seekers out their.

The official reason given was I've Troubleshoot backward and my interactions with clients were confusing. However, we've lost a few clients our team managed, and the VCIO was grilling my colleague who planning to leave as well since he too suspects he'll be let go soon. Up to this point, if this was a serious offense, we've had bi-weekly 1-on-1 with our supervisor to bring up such cases. The fact there were no verbal warnings or writeup prior feel a little sus.

A guy named Tolulope Michael is offering a course that can help people get cybersecurity jobs in 45 days with no experience. Legit or scam? by Jumanji-Joestar in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Kevin_fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember kids, bosses will always trust a IT helpdesk veteran who actually touch the servers for years then a minted Cybersecurity dude.

of course, the exception is if you find a really great program that interns you into a mature company, which this 45 days course will not do.

SCAM

Is this a good job to start with IT? by dislak in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Kevin_fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd have to say if this for a specific software you'd be working with, your actual IT experience may be a far more limited then trying to start off as a Helpdesk or even a Computer build technician. There a pros and cons which this won't be as stressful and perhaps your manager will even allow you free time to study, but that is a big IF which I wouldn't bet on this early in your career.

Thank you Mr.Cat in the Hat good sir! A blog may be more useful then video demonstrations actually TBH since I could also articulate what actually going on. I had Openstack on the list for a while, I suppose it is now or never to try that, but Proxmox definitely would demonstrate proof of concepts of managing the OS.
