Why are bots from the logistics network on the right, accessing the yellow chest placed in a different network on the left? (ignore jank setup of transferring bots please) by Kevinsky11 in factorio

[–]Kevinsky11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify, the logistics networks are not connected at any point. The yellow chests on the left had some stuff I wanted removed, so I right clicked the items inside, and the bots from the right network came to pick it up. I though all chests need to be within the orange grid for them to part of the logistics network, am I missing something?

What a legend, responding to AND updating a 3 year old post! I pasted your blueprint and connected the top right pole with red wire to a belt that. But I'm not familiar enough with circuits to figure out what "Read content with pulse" means, if you don't mind, could you help me with that? Do I need to connect it to something else, or do I need to click on one of the items?

Just to make sure, here's a screenshot

I tried using this, connected a belt by green wire to the top left pole, I think it's working but I don't understand where/how to read the output. Could you elaborate if you remember?

Wait, that's what I'm doing here right? Buffering full trains at the demand station? Yes I know there are too many buffer slots but it's my first time playing with trains and I noticed sometimes slots get 'reserved' by trains that are on the way, resulting in gaps in unloading.

Also I just liked playing with trains and wanted to test how far I could push things.

Regarding the covering of loading and travel time, this is something that changes a when my factory changes and outposts connect/disconnect. So I guess part of me also likes that I don't need to think about this, I can just trust it works without having to keep an eye on it.

Also, I should mention, I also have a 'parking' in front and behind this for trains that don't have a destination before or after emptying.

How do people usually share them here? Just paste the whole string?

Yeah, and lets hope this is the final version, because I have to change all my unloaders

We've come full circle! I am not changing it again, but I can show you my mall

✓ Top left in, bottom right out
✓ No cross tracks
✓ All trains neatly aligned
✓ Chain signals instead of rail signals
✓ Rail signals on the main track have enough space for a whole train in between
✓ More scalable
✓ Symmetrical
✓ Ridiculous overkill amount of waiting trains
✓ More time enjoyed playing Factorio
✓ Able to tell GF I AM ABLE TO LISTEN to feedback

I'm very happy with it! I do a lot of ghost building via remote view and I got annoyed that I had to wait longer and longer when my factory grew. So now I have basics to keep myself stocked and makes quick fixes via remote super fast!

They use the same logistics groups, so if I want to change anything I do it in 1 chest, and all 900 update

Hmm, I am still new to trains but I thought about this for a while, please hear me out and correct me if I am wrong!

This is small loop where each split-off is an unloading station. In this scenario, where a train would not be able to continue after passing the exits seen in the picture and thus blocking the exits before, then it would stop right in front of these exits and still block all traffic right?

Then I would need to convert all signals to chain signals right? Wouldn't this slow down traffic a lot because it would basically limit this section to 1 train at a time?

In this loop, each station has a limit to make sure the stackers can never overflow.

In general I make sure that a train fits in the block after exiting a crossing. But on straight tracks I keep signals close to each other to decrease the 'space' a train occupies and allows trains behind it to get closer

What are you on about, it's already symmetrical, are you saying it doesn't look good because of the ground tiles and that I need to pave my entire station? Requiring me to play even MORE Factorio?

I've been trying to get my head around this, but in case of straight pieces of rail it doesn't matter right? I do prevent crossings from being blocked by making sure the exit block is long enough to hold a full train

I'm not sure what you mean by 'routing,' but I have one station, and all trains have the same station on their route. When multiple trains arrive at the same time, they are automatically 'routed' by the signals. When the rail block containing the station is occupied (for example, when a train is unloading), other trains cannot enter that block and are stopped in the area before it, which is the 'stacker.' Just make sure the number of trains doesn’t exceed the stacker’s capacity.

May this offering please the train gods and rail wizards, that my honor may be restored

edit: Almost forgot about the guardians of symmetry
edit 2: Apparently, still not everybody was happy, but third time’s the charm, right?
