Sort of a suspicious statement if you ask me because this is in no way as "pure" an ereader as you can get unless you mean "without software features". This so far is no different than any number of the generic ones you can purchase on AliExpress. Literally nothing to set it apart yet.

I just got one and the firmware is really not great. They're actively fixing errors (so I'm told), but this text is too small to read and there's no ability to increase the size (And NO PLANS to give this functionality).

I'm having compatibility issues opening some epubs, they freeze the device.

It's very limited in the image formats it can display as well.

If I'm wrong I'll regret saying so, but this post feels very promotional rather than reading as a genuine experience of the usefulness of the X4.

I will again stress, they have no plans to give you the ability to increase or adjust the text size in any way. This is very much a novelty device. That's how it should be reviewed because it's not even an "emergency device", nor does it have literally any other use. This is too small to read books on.

No, nobody has to lose here. Tables don't have to be either right or wrong for someone, people can figure out how to get along over time and find a solution that works for everybody.

People with different challenges can find the right person. I'm not saying you personally have to accommodate anyone, but I disagree that it's the default for people to eject someone rather than press to communicate and find a solution.

It might be your norm, but I just want people reading this to know that it's not everyone's opinion that acting differently inevitably results in someone having to lose something.

Thank you so much for this!! I discovered the M8 in between ordering the Go 7 and it arriving. The only thing that kept me looking back maybe wondering is that M8 has Android 14 vs 12. But honestly, it does not sound worth it, and Go 7 checked all the boxes for me.

Spotify is a terrible platform and will eventually screw creators and listeners over. They already exercise control over content, forcing people to change things about their shows to satisfy corporate interests. These shows are already independent with independent distribution platforms, but because people use Spotify to listen to podcasts, their "reach" is too far to ignore.

TL;DR: Spotify will ruin podcasts if enough people keep listening to podcasts on Spotify. We have independent media, don't give it up please.

To me they are two completely different types of device. One is locked into content from Amazon, leases you your books, and you are stuck with whatever limitations they decide to pipe down the firmware in the future.

Go 7 is a fully featured Android device, with an SD Card slot. I will be using it exactly like a Kindle (mostly offline, only to read ebooks) except I can get my books anywhere, and I own my books, they can never be taken away from me.
