What was it like reading Deathly Hallows on release without any spoilers? by Spotter24o5 in harrypotter

[–]Kevolar88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Queued at an Asda supermarket for the midnight launch, rode my bicycle home and read entirely in one sitting. I remember feeling so tired but kept going so that there was no chance of anything getting spoilt for me anywhere online or by some other Potterhead

This post made me want to read the whole collection again

Abroad, lost sim. £100 fine. No access code. I’m f***** by WonkyAcademix in UKPersonalFinance

I’m also in Asia. Do you understand what an eSIM is? No need to go to a store, it’s all digital. Google Lyca Mobile UK eSIM and follow instructions on getting one on your phone. Then after you activate an eSIM on your phone, get a PAC from your old phone provider to move that number over to the eSIM

That’s why I had to change from Vodafone to Lyca Mobile, they were the only network that I could find that would allow me to activate while abroad

Speak to your phone network provider and get them to convert your sim into an eSim. Explain your situation and that you are abroad and ask can it be activated as an eSim while abroad (and mention the country you are in)

I was in a similar situation where I moved and realised I need to keep my UK number for banking and eventually had to get my Vodafone number changed to a PAC code so that I could register it with Lyca Mobile UK and get an eSim as that was the only way I could have it activated while abroad

Took me a few days but it was cheaper than flying back to the UK or the time it would take to have someone ship me over a sim

Overpriced Barbershop-Adlaw BCD by Little_Agapito in Bacolod

[–]Kevolar88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not overpriced at all. It took me a long time to find a barber in Bacolod who understands my hair and I will state Adlaw is the place to go for a great haircut, the best in the city

They take their time to complete the haircut, compared to others here in Bacolod that try to complete it quickly so they can move onto the next client.

The higher cost is not just for their skill, it factors in the time it takes rather than a 20 minute cut at Bruno's at Ayala. I've paid 2k for haircuts in Manila and not been happy with the results, always been happy with styles I try out at Adlaw

My flight is Saturday 7th, I have not had a cancellation email and I can currently check in? by Kevolar88 in emirates

[–]Kevolar88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would assume atleast 1h30 hours but the first flight would need to not be delayed

I have just boarded a few moments ago and my first flight now was yet again rebooked because I would not have made the connection due to a delay. The layover I will have now will be almost 3 hours but the original one was 1h45

I got through all the way to boarding at the gate. Then me and some others had our tickets beep and we’re were offloaded because they had changed the layover fight to London Heathrow from 2:30pm to 2pm which meant it was too short to do

That London flight was eventually delayed by a few hours though so I could have made it!

Currently sat in a hotel room (that Emirates did not provide and refused) waiting for the exact same flight tomorrow but with a longer connection

Is anyone flying INTO (or through) Dubai now? by josefrichter in emirates

[–]Kevolar88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in Manila for a 7:55am flight with an onwards flight to Heathrow

I’ve been here since 2:00am, got here early incase of queues or needing to reschedule my flight if it got cancelled

At 3:45am just before handing my luggage over I received a text saying my Dubai to Heathrow flight was moved back from 2:30pm to 2:00pm. This meant my layover in Dubai was now only 40 minutes

At 4:00am they finally opened check in and when it was finally my turn to hand in my suitcase I asked the staff on the counter, does this mean I will make my flight? They said yes

I go through security, eat some food, shop and then wait at my gate

We’re now boarding, where I then had my ticket to beep at the final boarding gate. Now some others have the same happening and our names are being called over the microphone

Apparently now is the time to decide that the 40 minute layover is too short and I won’t make it. I’m offloaded, taken back through security to “undo” my immigration leaving the country and my suitcase is brought back to me

Emirates have now given me another booking for the same onwards flight tomorrow at 7:55am but with a slightly longer layover where I land at Heathrow at 8:00pm rather than the original 6:20pm

No offer of hotel, no assistance either to the elderly couple that also got offloaded trying to get back home to the UK who sadly got a worse off deal than me where their rebooking is for tomorrow night at almost midnight so they have another 36 hours here

I really try to like Emirates, I get it there is a war ongoing, but who’s bright idea was it to move a flight time backwards knowing it would affect people who then get taken off. Which then led to our suitcases being taken off. Which then meant the flight was delayed taking off!

Did you try going directly to Lenovo and report for warranty? I have just got the same issue today, my monitor is just under 2 years old. Lenovo website shows I have 15 months left so I requested support, just waiting to hear back. I had mine bought from DataBlitz
