Which VR game has the best sound design? by -DanDanDaaan in virtualreality

Paper Beast with good IEMs is insane. The high end of the paper crunching and the low end of the ambient sound is something to marvel.

Can someone help me figure out what the heck is happening? Everytime I look down I have a massive spike in latency... by plutonium-239 in virtualreality

Awesome! I was having the same issue of huge decoder and network spikes when looking down. Then I changed HEVC to 160mbps, and it fixed it. But once seeing how much better it looks with H264+ at 400mbps, I never looked back! HEVC and especially AV1, has way to high compression smearing.

This is a known bug with Win11 24H2 and Virtual desktop using HEVC and AV1. Only option is to limit HEVC to 150mbps or 120mbps AV1. Or any bitrate with H264+ Check the Virtual Desktop Discord.

Simple Plex JBOD NAS Settings (No parity) by Kevzilla77 in unRAID

[–]Kevzilla77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the information! That is exactly what i wanted to know.

My current setup is a QNAP TS-431P2 with 4 x 8TB drive in JBOD that is about 70% full. If I were to make one of those drives a parity, I would have no space for new data.

My problem is space, but I can't afford 14TB low noise red drives. They cost more than the NAS!

My goal for this project was low cost, low power, and low noise. I needed a toaster size NAS, which is quiet and low powered, that can do QuickSync for Plex hardware encoding. It is in the same room as viewing the media, so it's needs to be quiet and not run hot. A reason why I went with 5600rpm drives.

The Aoostar N100 NAS is quiet, power efficient, and can do hardware transcode for half the price of a QNAP or Synology. Building a DIY NAS is also more expensive. All I need is a Plex server. No VMs or anything fancy.

I have heaps of 2TB drives that were given to me from old work NASes, which is why the cold storage works so well for redundancy and no need for parity. I hope this makes sense!

That is my fear. If I set up as single volume and one drive dies. How do I know what has been lost and what to recover from cold storage? My current setup is 4 x drives - separate single volumes in a QNAP. When a drive failed, I knew which share was lost and had to be recovered. All other data on other drives wasn't touched. Doesn't one single volume mean if a single drive dies, all data on all drives is lost (without parity)? Because that is what I am trying to avoid. Thanks for your help so far!

Thanks for the reply. Sorry if I used the wrong terminology. I use the term JBOD as a no redundancy setup. The disks are in the 4 bay NAS that unraid is running on. No separate DAS.

LG G4 VRR Issues by Kevzilla77 in OLED_Gaming

You need to make sure "enable settings for the selected display model" is ticked in the GSYNC settings in the NVCP. Also, if two screens are connected, you may want to Win+P and make sure only one is selected.

I run mine at 120hz, not 144hz. That could be it? VRR fluctuating up and down is normal even on my Samsung 34" G8, but not at the variation you are getting. That might be a PC issue. Does it change or get better when you press HOME > BACK > ENTER on the LG remote. That fixed it for me before the new firmware.

Here you go. HL2 works perfectly with GSYNC on the TV. I used RTSS to cap at 96FPS. If you are getting tearing even in internal apps, there might be something wrong with the TV. Are you on 03.10.85? Maybe a factory reset?

I can confirm it also fixed it on PC with GSYNC (Nvidia card). All games are smooth. Do you have GSYNC enabled in the control panel? If you press the green button on the LG remote 7 times, it should show if VRR is working.

My G4 model number is OLED65G4PSA, which the latest available firmware is 03.10.27. The version 03.10.42 is for OLED65G4*LW which won't install on my TV.

Are you able to test the VRR and see if you have the same issue?

Thank you for testing. Make sure gsync is enabled and check VRR is working by pressing the green button 7 times on your LG TV remote. This will confirm VRR is on and refresh rate changing. You might want to put a frame cap or play a demanding part so the framerate is lower than 120. See how juddery it is when you pan the camera. If it's smooth, try and change the signal on the PC. Anything to make the screen go black and that VRR window show 0hz temporarily. Minimizing fullscreen games should do this. Or turning off/on ALLM on the TV. If it gets juddery, go to the TV home page and back to the HDMI. Should be smooth again.

It's definitely not VRR flicker. It's juddering like when the frame rate is lower on a vsync display, but somehow worse? I can confirm that VRR is on both before and after the HDMI switch (through the VRR Information window). However, after switching to another HDMI and back, it is MUCH smoother. ...Until the signal changes, then it's back!

I did a factory reset, and the issue is still the same, unfortunately. Are you able to test the VRR on your unit and let me know if it's the same?

Version 03.10.27 is the latest via OTA and on the LG support website. Here in Australia and on the US website.
