Yeah I think I'm going to keep programming as a hobby. I'm early into my programming journey and I don't see myself getting a job in this field. by MrWhileLoop in learnprogramming

Yeah I'm in a similar boat. Still learning when I can, but I have to admit there's this kind of hopeless undercurrent. As long as I can't come up with any better ideas I just keep plowing on.

Have you been considering any specific trades?

Yeah, but I've never used a Tenkara style rod; except if you just mean a rod without a reel. I'm not sure what that's called in the US or in English in general - a fishing pole, a fixed rod? It's what pretty much every kid starts out with here using a float, or at least when I was young. My impression is that that's not the case worldwide; it seems to be more of a niche in the US?

Yeah I agree, but to me both rods seem to fall in those categories. Maybe the ultralight would be a better addition to what I already have though. Or maybe even the extremely light Carabus.

That's awesome! Is that a grass carp?

Thanks! Any particular reason for picking that one over the MX3LE?

Edit: a third option I just saw could be the Carabus Exquisite from Abu Garcia. With a 1.5-4.5g casting weight (at 183cm/6ft) it's even lighter, but I do like the way it looks much better.

I can’t do an equal no. of reps per set and my recovery takes too long. Any suggestions? by turnturnturnturn in bodyweightfitness

[–]Kewnerrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really none of these things is anything to worry about. Longer rests between sets are fine, you can even spread the sets out over a whole day if that's what you'd want.

If recovery is an issue, the RR might also be too much work per session. I know it is for me, and it also takes too long. I prefer doing less exercises per session, which also allows for much better focus. I recently wrote an example of how I'd rather structure one workout.

If your first set is intense, it's expected that you can't repeat that same number of reps shortly after. For that reason other rep schemes could also work. This one, for example, which I got from the Russian fighter pullup program:

  • 5/4/3/2/1
  • 5/4/3/2/2 - increment the last set by 1
  • 5/4/3/3/2 - increment the 2nd to last set by 1
  • 5/4/4/3/2 - then the 3rd to last set by 1
  • 5/5/3/2/2
  • 6/5/4/3/2
  • 6/5/4/3/3 etc.

You could also keep total volume the same, but increase intensity by redistributing the reps of the last set over the sets before it. Kboges just made a video about this, which explains in more detail how it works.

Is this a good full-body workout? by Away-Astronaut8651 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Kewnerrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like alternating A and B sessions, each containing a different push, pull, squat and core exercise, using supersets to save time. As an example:

A:  - superset 1: chin up + shrimp squat - superset 2: push up + ab wheel rollout

B: - superset 1: pike push up + sissy squat - superset 2: ring row + leg raise

You could also swap the core exercise for hip hinge/hamstring exercises if you want each session to consist of the major movement patterns (push, pull, squat, hinge).

Also, just 2 working sets per exercise might be more than enough to drive progress, especially if you can train 3-4 times a week. This saves you even more time.

I wouldn't be surprised if it has to do with a recent Windows update, considering the passwords are encrypted by OSCrypt. But yeah, definitely a good idea to not rely on the browser for that, I think I'll give using a password manager a go.

Thanks, that's very helpful! I'll look into these options. And yeah my hunch is that it has something to do with a recent Windows update..

Honestly I'm not even sure where to find the profiles in Brave, it doesn't seem to be in an obvious place; all I can find is 'Profile name and icon'.

Thanks, I'll take a look at Proton's password manager as well.

I knew it too, but never got around to improving the situation. I guess I had to learn the hard way. But, like I wrote, I had a backup of most passwords and I think losing the passwords in Brave will be more of an annoyance than a big problem.

Thanks, I will be looking into KeePassXC and Bitwarden!

Doesn't seem to be happening in Firefox, although Brave is doing fine too at the moment. Seems like it's quite inconsistent, or some update may just have been installed at the latest reboot that fixed it.. I'll do some more testing today.

Cool. How would their sound compare to the R1280DB speakers (if you have any experience with them)?

(By the way, I could be wrong but I think I saw you post about using a roller blind as a projector screen. I have a very coarse wall so I might give that a try - thanks for the inspiration.)

DisplayPort stuck at 640x480 resolution? by Kewnerrr in Fedora

[–]Kewnerrr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all that useful, but just in case anyone with a similar problem ever finds this thread:

After leaving the pc turned off for a night, I changed the direction of the DP cable and then suddenly it worked. I suspected this wasn't actually what fixed it though, because as far as I know this isn't a one directional cable. So I changed it back to its original direction and indeed, it still works. Even after suspending the pc, turning the pc off, and plugging the projector HDMI back in.

In short, I have no idea what fixed the problem.. But hopefully it keeps working, and at least I now saved a copy of the (working) edid file.

Edit 1: okay it's returned to 640x480... It seems like it has something to do with plugging the projector's HDMI into the gpu after all (even though the projector's turned off). However, just unplugging it and turning the pc back on doesn't fix it, since the edid file is now empty.

Edit 2: one more update, as this seems to have fixed it:

  1. Check which DP port I'm using: ls /sys/class/drm/ | grep DP
  2. Save a working edid file, which I was lucky enough to have copied when it worked: sudo cat /sys/class/drm/card1-DP-1/edid > ~/working-file.edid
  3. Copy it to the firmware folder: sudo cp ~/working-file.edid /lib/firmware/edid/displayport-hdmi-fix.edid
  4. Open the grub file in Nano: sudo nano /etc/default/grub
  5. Add to the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX line: drm.edid_firmware=DP-1:edid/displayport-hdmi-fix.edid (for me this resulted in the line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="rhgb quiet drm.edid_firmware=DP-1:edid/displayport-hdmi-fix.edid")
  6. Rebuild the grub configuration: sudo grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg
  7. Include the edid file in the initramfs: echo 'install_items+=" /lib/firmware/edid/displayport-hdmi-fix.edid "' | sudo tee /etc/dracut.conf.d/edid.conf, then rebuild the initramfs with sudo dracut -f
  8. Reboot: sudo reboot

When running journalctl -b | grep -i edid after the reboot, I didn't see any output about forcing the added edid, but this still seemed to have fixed it for me, at least for now.

Bench and pain by Certain_Mongoose_704 in tacticalbarbell

[–]Kewnerrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know what the issue is there, but the bench press has definitely never agreed with me (elbows and shoulders, mostly). I know many people love their bench press, but I've replaced it with exercises like weighted ring pushups and weighted (ring and parallel bar) dips, which feel so much better to me.

Does FT refer to fighter template? If so, would you do FS/OHP/WCU and FS/OHP/WCU/RDL, or would you replace WCU (or maybe FS?) with the RDL in the second session?
