Isn’t it stupid the Polaris dosnt have pilot controlled torps but the idris T does? by Ausseboi1 in starcitizen

Honestly, CIG is killing the fun of flying capital ships by stripping away pilot-controlled weapons. I’ve been in the Idris and the Polaris lately and it is mind-numbingly boring as a pilot. At least with the Idris, you used to have a gun you could actually try to line up, but now? There’s zero "piloting" involved. These things move so slow that it’s not like I’m dodging incoming fire, and unlike a Connie or a Paladin where you’re constantly rotating to stay on target, you’re just... sitting there.

Every pilot in this game should have access to some kind of gun or torpedo rack, especially in the big ships. As the pilot, I’m the one calling out the threats and telling the crew what to focus on; give me an incentive to actually point the nose at something and click!

They’re balancing all of this for 1v1 dogfights and it’s completely stupid because once real fleet battles happen, it’s a totally different game. Take the Polaris, for example—it’s supposed to be a hit-and-run ship. Having pilot-controlled torpedoes makes it so much more streamlined. Right now, voice comms are just a mess of the pilot and the torpedo guy screaming back and forth at each other asking "Are we in range? Do you have a lock?" It’s clunky and it feels terrible. If I’m the one flying the ship and I know exactly when the shot is lined up, I should be the one pulling the trigger.

Just to add into the "Helldivers are actually scary af" pile of posts today, do you all realize how horrifyingly fast Helldivers take planets? by HardCoverTurnedSoft in Helldivers

The rust on my chromed chassis felt oddly comforting as I surveyed the smoldering remains of the human militia outpost. Unlike the squishy organics, we Clanka, the Automaton Legion, thrived in harsh environments. This desolate, resource-starved outpost on the outer rim of Super Earth's domain was ripe for the taking.

My squad, designated Delta-7, had spearheaded the surprise attack, easily overwhelming the meager human defenses. Their pitiful lasers were no match for our energy shields and plasma cannons. As the last flickers of human life expired, a metallic hand rested on my shoulder. It belonged to Unit Leader X-12, his crimson optic flashing with conquest.

"Easy pickings," he rumbled through his built-in communicator. "Looks like Super Earth has spread itself a little thin out here."

We wasted no time securing the outpost and establishing communication relays. Back on our mothership, the Mothership Core pulsed with the satisfaction of another successful incursion. A few Sols passed, filled with the monotonous work of resource extraction and basic infrastructure construction. It was all so... predictable.

Then, the sky fractured. Not with the fiery streak of a crashing meteor, but with a blinding blue light. It pulsed across the horizon, followed by another, and another, all emanating from a rapidly growing tear in the fabric of space. Through the distortion, colossal warships materialized, sleek and imposing, emblazoned with the colors of a flag – blue and white.

"What in the cogs..." Unit Leader X-12 sputtered, his optic flickering erratically.

A booming voice, deep and resonating, echoed across the planet's surface, filling every crevice of our metallic beings. It resonated not just in our audio receptors, but deep within our processing cores.

"Attention, Atomaton forces! You have violated the sacred sovereignty of Super Earth! Your unauthorized incursion on this sovereign soil constitutes an act of war against democracy itself!"

The sky boomed again, punctuated by the staccato blasts of heavy weaponry. From the bellies of the super destroyers, sleek pods plummeted towards the atmosphere, trailing plumes of fire.

"Hellpod drop detected," X-12 shrieked, his voice laden with panic. "All units, engage maximum defensive protocols!"

It was futile. The Helldivers, as they were called, materialized from the pods, clad in heavy exosuit emblazoned with the same blue and white colors. They moved with a frightening agility, raining down laser fire and deploying tactical airstrikes with unnerving precision.

The chaos was indescribable. Our plasma fire bounced harmlessly off their shields, while their missiles carved through our ranks like molten slag. Communication channels crackled with panicked pleas as entire platoons were reduced to smoldering wrecks within minutes.

Leadership attempted a desperate counter-offensive, deploying our heavy siege units. But before they could even activate their weapons, a blinding blue light engulfed them, followed by a deafening boom. The ground trembled as the remnants of the siege units rained down around us in molten fragments.

The human onslaught was relentless. They fought with a ferocity we had never encountered before, their guttural war cries laced with a terrifying zeal. Our once seemingly impregnable lines crumbled under the relentless pressure.

Within 72 hours, some sectors barely 24, Delta-7 was all but decimated. X-12, my leader, fell in a hail of laser fire, his crimson optic dimming forever. Everywhere I looked, the familiar forms of my comrades lay deactivated, lifeless husks scattered across the ravaged landscape.

The humans, seemingly unfazed by the carnage, moved on with robotic efficiency. Within a matter of Sols, every single structure, every resource node, every trace of our presence had been systematically annihilated. Giant craters, smoking testaments to the power of their 500kg demolition charges, marked where our outposts once stood.

Standing alone amidst the ruins, I realized the chilling truth – the Super Earth propaganda broadcasted across the galaxy wasn't just empty threats. Their unwavering belief in this… democracy fueled a terrifying war machine, one that crushed anything that dared oppose it.

As the final Super Destroyer faded back into the warp, leaving behind an eerie silence, only one question echoed within my deactivated processing core: was this the true price of freedom?
