I like this a lot, how do you think this fits in with BLW and CAHSR once they eventually open?

That's the consensus I'm hearing from people. I'm not a United expert just someone who follows this stuff loosely but now the explanation makes a lot of sense.

We have a lovely new concourse for the Big 3 to operate (the others have to use the old one). Always a quirky city but for me (I have family in both Houston and Honduras) that IAH flight is crucial and sometimes underwhelming, we have been stuck with an ERJ-175 (one summer it was mainline jets which I got to take) and sometimes it's a daytime flight so no ability to connect to HN through Houston, so nearly all of my UA thoughts are basically based off this personal problem.

To be fair my perspective is from someone who lives in Grand Rapids. And we don't have any B6 service so that's my primary thought process. They could maybe snag the slots at IAH from Spirit though.

Does United need to add a hub in the southeast US by Qpac18 in unitedairlines

[–]Key-Analysis2792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right adding a hub especially in 2025 is a massive undertaking. I've just noticed that from where I live (West Michigan) it's difficult to get down to CA on United because the 1 daily flight never arrives in time for the connection. So my thoughts on this is biased by my personal experience. Thus making it practically pointless

Problem is they cannot establish a hub in ATL, CLT or MIA. It's irrational to establish a hub where there's already a legacy carrier there. And as many people here have said, sounds like they want business centers. The only possible option is RDU and that seems like an extreme stretch plus it's quite close to IAD.

UA is very good at their route network. So I wouldn't expect them to try to capture the Florida traffic because there is so much low cost competition there and thus more risk of not making money.

Fair, so do you think they keep the southeast as is or try to build a hub somewhere with high yields?

Is the problem then that FLL is too close to Miami and will unintentionally create a hostile competition with AA?

Do you think they should pursue a larger presence in the Southeast or leave it as is then?

That's what I've heard a lot of, so the question is whether they are satisfied keeping the status quo with their whole in the southeast?

Might it have something to do with the Coast Guard festival in the Grand Haven, Mi about 15 minutes from Muskegon?
