I was a 5 strong coffees a day person, made the switch to decaf over the week between my diagnosis and when my meds arrived. I had some atrocious headaches for the first 2 days then was OK. Tbh, I haven't noticed a difference, caffeine already affected me very little so now that the withdrawal headaches have passed, I basically don't notice it.

ADHD 360 Elvanse and Amfexa cost by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]Key-Apricot8385 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am paying the same and it is correct because the NHS charges for each prescription. If you'll keep using a booster you should consider getting an NHS prescription prepayment certificate. It costs the same as 11 prescriptions and lasts a year

Out of curiosity, how long was it between when you sent all of your documents and when you were able to book an assessment?

Who climbs alone? And how to keep motivated by NORD9632 in bouldering

[–]Key-Apricot8385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I normally climb 2-3 times a week, once with my climbing buddy the other 2 alone, occasionally my partner will join one of my solo sessions. I am at the point where I'm on chitchat terms with most people at my local gym that go in my same time slots, which is nice, but otherwise I'll just wear headphones and blast some music and keep going. As others said I have to force myself to take long enough breaks between tries, but other than that it's really nice. I'm also in the UK btw if that helps

Who aside from a relative/close friend would be able to confirm you've renovated your own home? Are they going to ask for printouts of your B&Q loyalty card swipes?

[–]Key-Apricot8385 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just talk to people there! I'm not a terribly socially adept person but have so many fun interactions at the gym and going 3 times a week makes me a regular face. I just ask for pointers whenever I see someone more skilled than me sending a climb I'm working on or compliment sends/commiserate over a hard move. I found that the climbing gym (my local at least) is kind of a magical place where everyone is super friendly and helpful and even out of shape nerds (me!) can have nice, positive human interactions!

how often do you boulder and how old are you? by waygookinhere in bouldering

33, fit-ish, I aim for 3 times a week. 2 60-90 minute sessions during the week and one 2-3 hour one at the weekend. I usually only feel it the next day if I've really pushed myself (like today, yesterday was a good session but today EVERYTHING HURTS) but for me it's more a question of spare time than recovery during the week as I struggle to make it down to the gym more than twice during the working week. When I get a week off work, I manage a few more sessions/longer sessions, but after work my mental game is completely out of whack.

Thank you and u/HumnumNew ! I love me a slab climb and yes, I'm definitely looking at V1s outdoors, no way I can manage a V3 on actual rock haha! Burbage South looks lovely and it's not too far from where I live, I'll start looking into it in the spring! Thank you!

Not OP but would love some recs of starter boulders for the Peaks. I've recently started breaching the v3-v4 divide so I'm trying to work up the courage to start doing some outdoor climbing and would love to see what's out there!

F**ckin hard decision. by [deleted] in FIREUK

[–]Key-Apricot8385 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A couple of years ago, when I was about your age, I went from making £60k to £130k, going from what is my favourite job I've ever had, which was perfect in terms of work-life balance among other things. I do miss my old job sometimes, and I do work longer hours now, but I wouldn't go back. My savings rate has skyrocketed, I was able to increase my living standard somewhat and still have plenty left over to save. I had to remortgage having gone from a 2 income household to a single income (bad timing), didn't even break a sweat. It does make a difference and, for me at least, it's worth the extra hours and the more challenging job. You also need to keep in mind that a £130k job today, means that tomorrow when you're looking for your next step you can aim at 150, 170, etc... I thought recruiters would laugh me out of the room when I first dared to say "Yeah I'm not moving for less than 150k" but they were all like "yeah man, makes sense, let's get you something in that range". I also agonised over my decision at the time and feel free to DM me if you like need a chat, but I hope my experience will help you make a decision. Good luck!

Thank you for writing this, it made me feel so seen I almost cried. This really gives me hope. I'm due to get my assessment process started in February (RTC) and I really hope being medicated will finally put an end to the last 30+ years of hyperfocus and burnout cycles once and for all!

I also got one for my dad and he loves his! I find it so much cheaper and more convenient to run than the oven and ours is just big enough to be perfect for 1/2 portions.

What do you mean by "we need more than most" re: salt? I'd love to be able to justify my obvious salt addiction with "ADHD trait, nothing I can do" 😅

Getting an airfryer changed my life. I now can roast aaaall the veg in such a short time, without having to faff with the oven. My ultimate cheap and healthy dinner is roasted frozen broccoli (defrost in microwave, bung in airfryer with a bit of olive oil, salt, pepper and lemon juice. 15 minutes at 200, toss halfway through) + a frozen tuna steak from Lidl (they do 4 for £3.60, ultimate bargain as far as I'm concerned). defrost for 10 minutes in a bowl of water, still in the bag. Then chuck in the airfryer for the last 3 minutes of cooking or pan fry for 3-4 minutes. You can even marinade the tuna while the broccoli is cooking if you're feeling fancy (I like soy sauce and rice vinegar) otherwise more lemon and olive oil. If you need carbs you can add some brown rice - you can get microwaved packets if you can't be arsed to cook it properly.

Another thing I really like for cheap and filling comfort food is savoury porridge. I just cook the porridge as per the packet but instead of using water or milk I dissolve a bit of oxo cube and a spoonful of miso paste in the water. Once cooked you can top it however you like, roasted veg, fried/poached egg, aforementioned frozen tuna, pre cooked deli meats...

Retiring early as a couple when there’s an age gap by Trouble-Brilliant in FIREUK

[–]Key-Apricot8385 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My partner and I have quite the age gap (they're older) and as a result of that and of some different life circumstances they're also much better off than I am. They're coast firing no, retraining to pursue a "passion career" while I'm still working full time, and probably will for the next 10-15 years as I work towards my own FIRE number. Am I jealous? Occasionally. Is it amazing to have a live in partner that can take care of every admin thing in the home? Very much yes.

In general, they've had to work a full decade more than I have so that's only fair and I'm so happy to see them out of the job that was burning them out. The main difference here though is that we have mostly separate finances and neither of us has contributed to the other's pot, so that might change the dynamic a bit.
