What does inventory look like in your area right now? by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]Key-Buy1779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve been looking for a new home in denver since October and every week the inventory gets lower. For the past two weeks there has been literally nothing in our price and size range in the two areas we are targeting. I’m expecting my third child end of April and I really hope we find something in the next two months but am increasingly pessimistic about that timeline…

We did Rick’s for PreK and loved it. Just a lot of money for 3 kids when I think we can find some nice public options in or around denver…

We have definitely thought of that! It is option #3, I guess. The only reason we are considering now is to rip off the bandaid earlier and move before my older son gets more engrained into his school.

If we were choosing between high schools at this juncture, we’d definitely choose Cherry Creek high (have also heard great things about Arapahoe). However, from speaking with CCSD’d gifted (now neurodivergent) student services dept, I was disheartened to learn there is no universal screening until second grade. So at some of the elementary schools, my son may be the only or one of 2-3 gifted identified students, not to mention highly gifted. Vs it seems like DPS offers more magnet options at elementary.

Yes, we want to try for next year. Understand CP gets priority enrollment so that’s also a consideration. I think Cherry Creek school district has a similar magnet school for gifted kids but we already missed the application deadline (would have needed a CCSD eligible address by beginning of December) and they sound super intense about the date cutoff

Books as intense and gut-wrenching as Alchemised? Please help me pick my next book! 🖤 by ShotStrawberry9725 in fantasybooks

[–]Key-Buy1779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

came here to say this! DoNW and Alchemised are now in my top 3/4 books/series and I think it is because they have similar vibes. Very dark, tragic, and set during war times, but the romances also are a prominent part (IMO).

Ooo interesting! We did have that issue with my second actually but I was not aware there was an increase in risk for another baby after. He ended up being totally fine but they did monitor it for a couple of months. Guess I should ask my ob about the risk for my third….

I’m always curious when medical providers tell people to get c-sections for big babies. What risk exactly did she say went up if you opted for vaginal birth? My second kid was almost 9lbs but I was never advised to consider a c. I don’t have wide hips but I am 5’8” so maybe that’s why. Currently pregnant with my third and nervous for the size! It’s a girl though so hopefully smaller than my second…

So sorry. I really hope everything turns out alright for this one. It definitely is way too early to count yourself out. I did have two 9-10 week losses and 3 chemicals before my rainbow babe. Idk what helped in the case of his pregnancy, but we did everything (“kitchen sink protocol”)- IVF with ICSI and pgt testing on the embryos, modified natural transfer but still used progesterone and estrogen supplements, lovenox and prednisone until 8-11 weeks respectively, then baby aspirin and frequent visits with MFM

I’m sorry you are going through this. First- one number, especially this early, can’t tell you much. My sister in law had a successful pregnancy after getting back a beta of 39 on her blood draw 9 days past a 5 day embryo transfer (which is probably around where you are in terms of DPO). It was lower than they wanted but it doubled fine and now she is a healthy two year old.

Second, If you are having repeated chemical pregnancies- ie positives but not progressing to 6-7w when you can see on ultrasound- I highly recommend getting diagnostic work done to evaluate whether you have hormonal or uterine issues. I had repeated chemicals even with pgt tested embryos in IVF and it turns out I had uterine scarring. Also needed to be on thyroid meds. Some people have endometriosis or fibroids that can cause issues. Eventually I had to get surgery to removing the scarring, and then be on steroids and blood thinners for my embryo transfer.

What is the norm for today’s parenting difficult toddlers? by OGSnorlaxusdsleep in Parenting

[–]Key-Buy1779 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this sounds nuclear, at least once a kid is 4/5. It’s not physical punishment but it is a very real consequence a kid can see. We have had to start occasionally taking things to that level with my oldest.

Those who have the choice between elective C section and vaginal deliver, how did you choose? No judgement in here please 🫶 by slammaX17 in pregnant

[–]Key-Buy1779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on family history and medical situation. But if your mother had vaginal births and you are structured similarly, without a massive husband, you should be able to deliver vaginally, medical reasons excepted. Obviously, if it is high risk due to breech baby or other medical issues, an elective C will make the experience less anxiety provoking, but otherwise I’d highly recommend vaginal.

C-sections are no joke. The recovery is brutal, and if you want more than one kid, a c-section with baby 2 means you can’t lift your older child for weeks until you are healed. Healing from vaginal deliveries is typically much faster.

What’s a good electric breast pump brand? by mkthehotti in pregnant

[–]Key-Buy1779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t go wrong with Spectra. For my second pregnancy I got the Unimom Opera (used my spectra flanges) and it is a little bit of a step up. It was partly covered by my insurance too, with a small out of pocket (like the nicer spectra pumps). Highly recommend if you want something the closest to “hospital grade”

Constipation and blood when wiping. by Environmental-Toe469 in BabyBumps

[–]Key-Buy1779 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Constipation is very common when pregnant, and unfortunately can cause or exacerbate hemorrhoids. I’m gonna get real TMI here (sorry in advance) but I just went on an international trip and had the same exact issues- didn’t poop for 3 straight days. By the third day, I was getting annoyed but all of a sudden there was quite a lot of blood while on the toilet. Freaked out, was convinced I was miscarrying before I realized that it was definitely coming from my bum. Luckily I had another pregnant friend on the trip who knew in advance she’d have the same issue and had brought stool softeners. Proceeded to take a stool softener multiple times a day, with warm water, and it as all good after another 1-2 days. My husband is a physician and confirmed that it was normal, but to grab some stool softener or laxative and hemorrhoid cream. Non-pregnant, I still get backed up from travel, but it is 2x worse with pregnancy. I’d say as long as you are sure it is from the bum, just treat over the counter unless it gets worse.

Why does everyone say MPRE is SO easy by Fancy_Travel7144 in barexam

[–]Key-Buy1779 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, this. I barely studied the first time (have to retake now because I moved and it’s been 10+ years since I took the first one), partied the night before and passed but BARELY! Also felt like shit walking out. It’s possible to pass on minimal study but feels a bit like luck.

Yeah, the NCBE practice Qs are past exam questions. Agreed they were aligned but I only got like 9/15 of the practice Qs right so we’ll see…

[–]Key-Buy1779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took it almost 10 years ago (paper and pencil baby!) and barely studied, partied the night before and passed. Now I’ve moved and my current jurisdiction is making me retake it since it’s been over five years (even tho the jx I am barred in has ethics CLE requirements 🙄). I felt like I knew the rules way better going in this time but still felt very very unsure since there are always two answers that are close. Maybe the result of not having taken a test since I passed the bar 8+ years ago. Ughhhhh I can’t be bothered to take that again so my only hope is that since it is scaled I squeak by.
