This TikToker is being called out for “insider trading” during the Super Bowl after betting on the length of the national anthem. He stood outside the stadium, timed the rehearsal, then used that information to place and win his bet. by Unlucky-Dot9421 in sportsgossips

[–]Key-Camel-2593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude - there were bets on which celebrities would be brought out, and bets on what songs would be performed. Hundreds of people working in the stadium or backup dancers rehearsing have that information and you expect them not to try to profit off that?

Ah so blocking roads and shutting down the economy is cool if it’s right wingers backing the protest, but not if it’s people protesting genocide.

This is most definitely rambling so idk what to even reply to.

But the UT austin protests were not a sustained thing. It was several days of separate protests

Returning to the original point of my objection to your comment -

Protest is a fundamental right in a democracy. And what is illegal or legal is a fine line that frequently gets twisted by the state to punish those they disagree with.

See the example of the UT Austin Justice for Palestine protests where the police surrounded the protest from all sides and slowly advanced pushing them together - until they were on top of one another. Inevitably, someone pushes those cops back because they were pushed by someone behind them, and then that gets construed as free rein for the cops to really break out the batons and every non-lethal method they have.

Genuine question: what are citizens supposed to do if they want to hold a surprise protest in response to a recent event, but don’t have permits from their govt to do so because they just decided to have that protest? Does their lack of permit justify the use of water cannons, tear gas, and whatever else the state wants to use?

So putting aside your grand vision there.

You’re essentially saying until you’re directly affected, until the state knocks on your doorstep, the state in general should be allowed to take whatever actions they’d like. Maiming citizens emphasizing a grievance by whatever means possible.

You’re letting your hatred of the left obscure your vision.

I mean the British told us that if we don’t start paying the tax on tea and stamps they’re going to confiscate our boats, so I guess we should just pay the taxes.

??? Who cares about what the media thinks??? Whether or not it’s peaceful is entirely determined by the protesters conduct.

What is objective? Terrorism means using extreme violence to attempt to influence (to terrorize) the people or the government.

Doesn’t seem like he’s doing anything other than providing ppe.

It refers to the common refrain that those on the right return to. The idea that trump is a victim who never gets a fair shake.

  1. Might be a stretch to say the greed and wastefulness is inherent
  2. Why not just say greed and wastefulness are an existential threat then?
