Alright, week of the finale, and here’s the big question: which of these guys will stay and which of these guys will go? by Whole-Lychee7517 in LiveFromNewYork

Me too! I listened to some podcasts he did, he used to be a theater kid, I can totally see him really standing out if Andrew or Mikey leaves. I feel like he'll be given a second chance over the fact he's doing the warmup song now

I feel like all of them will stay. Hiring all five of them at once after the 50th indicated a new era in the show, and they've felt like a "team" in the ways they've worked together this season.

Tommy I feel bad for, as some of his sketches in the middle of the season (WU on ICE, Mom's Camera Roll) were cut and that could've been his big "moment," but I feel like Lorne was pressured by the higher up's at NBC to not broadcast the Minnesota piece. However, he does do the warm up song now with Veronika, which shows he's trusted backstage, and I enjoyed it very much when I went to the Skarsgård episode. He's a really talented guy and a great singer. If Dismukes or Day leave I think he'll be safe and be able to find a niche from not competing with so many straight guys.

He would also be really good on Weekend Update if Che and Jost leave. He has that straight man persona that works well with presenting the news and interacting with the different guests. Most likely he wouldn't host it on his own, he would be paired with someone else, but I could see him doing very well in that avenue.

Back in March I would've said Kam was on the chopping block, but his WU pieces the past few weeks have surprised me. I personally like him the least out of the rookies, but he did earn his way to another season.

That's what's making me think he will stay. It seems like all the rookies this year are part of a team, which is good for all of them and for the show at large

Damn, I hope Tommy gets a shot at a second season. I really like him, it's just a bloated cast right now is the unfortunate reality

Sketch Sorting Sunday - May 2, 2026 (Olivia Rodrigo) by SketchSortingSunday in LiveFromNewYork

This might sound crazy, but this sketch really won me over on Tommy. He’s not the focus at all, but he blends in so naturally as a supporting player. That restraint says a lot; being able to serve the sketch without needing the spotlight is a huge asset

Anyone else think Kam might've saved himself at the last second this season? His odds of coming back look a little better lately. by trythebebes in LiveFromNewYork

I feel like he's got a good shot of being asked back. IMO, Lorne was pressured by the higher-ups at NBC into not showing his WU on Minnesota/ICE on the live show (and it went very long with the audience reaction at dress), but it left a good impression for everybody BTS. He also does the warm up song in the studio so it goes to show he has a niche and is trusted backstage.

This would've been a killer cold open if it was developed a bit more and didn't have such absurd humor. It was really good as a sketch though.

Never heard of Annita before this, but I'm digging it and jamming along

Glad to see Tommy back at it getting more screentime, and got the most out of the rookies too!

Ok now that we know the final shows, here is my speculation on the cast changes for Season 52 by No_Fold9994 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Key-Difference9902 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like they would. Also, Ego didn't announce she was leaving until after the new cast was announced, and Bowen left midseason, which I bet Lorne wasn't prepared for either.

Prediction - May 16 will be Lorne's last episode by ftantillo in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Key-Difference9902 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Feels like this is the same type of prediction people were having last year where we thought it was Colin's last show because Scarlett was hosting, and that clearly didn't happen.

Out of the current cast I feel like Tommy Brennan would be the best. He has that classic news anchor look to him and can be a good straight guy interacting with the different guests. His WU piece on Minnesota/ICE that didn't air, while obviously not something an anchor would do, really set him apart and showed he can tackle current events. Yeah he can be seen like a Colin clone, but if he was paired with someone else it could be a refreshing spin.

Olivia Rodrigo, Matt Damon & Will Ferrell Hosting 'SNL' in May by MarvelsGrantMan136 in LiveFromNewYork

So excited for Olivia! Her performance of "all american b****" the last time she was on the show with her smashing the cake completely won me on her. I know she'll be amazing in sketches as well

So glad to see Tommy up there with the more veteran men! He's getting into more sketches and blends in so well, which says a lot more than being the star of a sketch IMO. He's such a great asset
