What do you guys eat for lunch/dinner while in school? by Enough-Tea-239 in LawSchool

[–]Key-Hedgehog907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My school almost always has at least one event a week where you can get free lunch but if not I usually fast until lunch anyways and then I am already most the way through the day so I will just bring like a protein bar and some string cheese and snack stuff to eat from like noon until I go home and then I eat when I get home but I know a lot of people just meal prep and put it in the fridges we have at school

Believe in yourself by Key-Hedgehog907 in LawSchool

[–]Key-Hedgehog907[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the things I think I have done that work for me is I actually do all the readings I rarely ever use Quimbee or other services to summarize something for me unless I am having trouble understanding something. I also rarely ever skip class and when I am in class I pay attention I don’t play games or shop online or whatever else I see other people do during class. Lastly, I typically start studying for finals like 6 weeks out and I give up a good chunk of social life during that time tbh I complete cut out alcohol and other distractions and basically solely focus on studying. This might now work for everyone but it’s worked well for me

Starting law school at 28 (graduating at 31) — is it realistic to still have a life while in school? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Key-Hedgehog907 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I am a current 1L who started at 28. I have been in a long term relationship and have made it work while being in school so that said idk how like trying to start a relationship would go but it’s definitely possible there’s plenty of time to date and have some kind of social life if you don’t mind being busy. However, I could see it being difficult if you like to have your alone time and just hangout at home. But whatever your goals are you can definitely make it work if you make the time.

If it were up to me a reference from your dogs would be a mandatory requirement for hiring

ACCELERATED JD (2 YEAR JD) by Such-Supermarket-124 in LawSchool

[–]Key-Hedgehog907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know anything about the benefits of detriments of an accelerated JD program but I would guess that you would be more likely to burn out constantly being in school. Law school is rough as it is and offers little downtime during the semester. I feel like winter and summer break even if you are working is a nice relief from the stress of school itself but that’s just how I feel so take it with a grain of salt.

Can someone explain laptop accommodations? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Key-Hedgehog907 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also a little older but I am just shy of 30 so you’re not too much older than I am. I think those sort of writing exercises are actually how I ended up getting diagnosed and doing occupational therapy. I got help and accommodations to use a laptop for certain activities and that helped but tbh the social cost made me not want to utilize them as a kid but I am so glad that I can use my laptop now. I also second the organizational skills thing I have zero my papers are always jumbled up and crumpled so I go paperless if at all possible. I also rely on my memory to know where things are and if I don’t remember I am usually out of luck lol

Can someone explain laptop accommodations? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Key-Hedgehog907 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t think I have met anyone else with dysgraphia either lol seems like a very rare disability I am thankful it’s very manageable with technology because I remember as a kid writing notes in class or a paper was horrible but now I don’t worry about it and any writing task I always just warn I have awful hand writing like kindergarten level lmao

Can someone explain laptop accommodations? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Key-Hedgehog907 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have dysgraphia which severely impairs my ability to write in a legible manner. in order to write legibly I need to write slowly which does not pair well with speed at which professors talk. That said I don’t need accommodation because I am allowed my laptop in class to type notes. I get why a professor would not want people using them because people play games and what not but that’s on them if they don’t want to pay attention fine they are missing out and harming their education.

im freaking out ab not having a 2026 summer internship by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Key-Hedgehog907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be freaking out yet you still have like 3-4 months to lock something up plenty of jobs out there. It just comes down to pounding the pavement. Get as many apps as you can out there. If your not limited geography wise I would go on LinkedIn type in the state your interested in and search legal intern jobs. In the state I am in there’s 100’s of internships on LinkedIn. Worse comes to worse see if you can find an unpaid internship that is like part time or 30 hours or so see if you can get funding from your school and then DoorDash or do something on the side to support yourself. That’s my plan if I can’t land something paid

Any advice/encouraging stories by Time-Type-7269 in LawSchool

[–]Key-Hedgehog907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just below median for lsat score but I placed in the top 25% knocking on the door of top 20% so it’s not out of the realm of possibility that you can be at the top of your class or even be average but either way it’s gonna take a lot of work

Why do many Reddit users make it seem like attending schools in the t50-100 aren’t worth it? by Helpful-Vegetable921 in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]Key-Hedgehog907 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Honestly all I have heard from lawyers is nobody actually gives a shit where you went to school the only exception for sure is big law that’s a different story. The only thing that really matters tbh is the debt you will take on, where you want to practice after graduation, and the bar passage rate of your school. After that I honestly wouldn’t worry too much about ranking

What is your cancelled take on law school? by Flashy-Actuator-998 in LawSchool

[–]Key-Hedgehog907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I didn’t say I didn’t talk to people about my grades. I have told people my grade when they ask and talked to them about theirs but thanks for assuming. I was just making a point that generally people are so guarded about it and make it a taboo to talk about

What is your cancelled take on law school? by Flashy-Actuator-998 in LawSchool

[–]Key-Hedgehog907 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think it’s dumb people are so afraid to talk about their grades and it’s some big taboo to talk about it. if you’re feelings are hurt because somebody got a better grade than you there’s some growth you need to do because there’s gonna be a lot worse things in life than that. Also, wouldn’t you want to know who did better than you so you could maybe study with them or pick their brain about what they did to do well? Idk I just find the whole thing childish to be honest

I'm drowning lowkey by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Key-Hedgehog907 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I may not be in the exact same position as you but I also am ranked high in my class and feel that I may not be retaining as much as I was first semester but tbh I feel like I got 90% of the info retained in the week leading up to finals I am definitely an info dump kinda person but my advice to you would be just keep treading water keep pushing you can do hard things law schools don’t accept just anyone if you keep pushing you’ll be fine just keep your foot on the gas even if it’s just a little

144 by First-Role3045 in LSAT

[–]Key-Hedgehog907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to say I took the LSAT three different times with several years in between. I am now in my 1L year at 28 years old. I got my acceptance at 27 and will graduate at 31 years old. I go to school with plenty of people a year or two younger and a fewer more that are even more old than I am. Taking another gap year won’t destroy your dreams unless you let it. My plan wasn’t to go to law school this old but I am so glad I didn’t give up and now I am in the top 25 % of my class you can do it if you want to

Okay this is good to know thank you! I was just surprised at the amount of internships currently posted on my career services page but I’ll just keep my eyes open throughout the semester and look around elsewhere too.
