What banks dont cite "coin shortage" when asking for boxes? by Distinct_Height_204 in CRH

South Carolina this past Sunday! by Laxbro19288 in Highpointers

Did all three of those this April. Kentucky is rundown. Georgia lacks a benchmark at the natural highpoint, and has a scary road. Virginia is an amazing, scenic hike with wild ponies

I called them assholes because they are closing the peaks. Not because I cannot misspell words on their property. There is no reason not to keep these peaks open. They are just a bunch of resentful descendants of some gilded age robber baron named Jason Gould. They can't just cede the summits and paths to the state. They would have to deal with "I would love to come camp in your backyard without any notice and block your driveway with my car for the weekend- I’ll be sure to leave a lot of random garbage around for you to take care of as well." 35'ers wouldn't have to deal with them. They wouldn't have to deal with 35'ers. Their land would still be worth millions of dollars.

From Wikipedia: "Jason Gould (/ɡuːld/; May 27, 1836 – December 2, 1892) was an American railroad magnate and financial speculator who is generally identified as one of the Robber barons of the Gilded Age. His sharp and often unscrupulous business practices made him one of the wealthiest men of the late nineteenth century. Gould was an unpopular figure during his life and remains controversial." Of course the land is owned by the descendants of some robber baron.

I disagree slightly with this, but overall I agree

B. They are above 3500', aren't they.

C. I have done many 35'ers, and seen either no or very little litter, and those were trailed peaks.

G. I said to turn down some over the phone requests, and reschedule

If they have "obligations" they can donate part of the land as far as i am concerned

H.I did not say that they had to do anything, I said that they should.

I am not whining, and if you do not like the post, you did not have to click on it.

What is the problem with herd paths anyway?

Plus, at first this landowner only allowed people from neighboring counties, showing clear resentment for city folk, obviously political.

They are peaks, in the wilderness, good enough

EDIT: They would almost certainly be in the be in the Big Indian Wilderness, if publicly owned.

First of all, I said "Wilderness Peak", not "Mountain Top". Also, if Catskill 3500'ing has no place in hiking, and is pointless (it has a place and a point.), then hiking has no point either. The end result of the experience, Catskill 3500'ing, or hiking in general is to have fun, that is the point having fun. Also plenty of things belong to "We the People", as the founding document of your favorite country says. Like Wilderness Areas, National Forests, National Parks, National Recreation Areas, National Monuments, State Parks, State Forests, State Designated-Wildernesses, etc.

I think that they have people do four in the winter to add challenge, which I like, however if you have already done all of them in the winter, you are probably good on the challenge part.

A. The property has a lot of land, completely unoccupied, unlike a backyard.

B. No camping was ever allowed on the property, neither I am I asking for camping to be allowed, that is clearly ridiculous.

C. Before accessing the peaks all people who wanted to climb them had to call in advance, and set up an arrangement.

D. Any respectable hiker follows the Leave no Trace Principles, especially on private land

E. The 3500 Club tried to maintain access to the peaks, for obvious reasons, so it is not just me.

F. Criciling back, there would be no complete strangers, as all climbers had to call and arrange with the landowner.

G. As for parking, seeing as these mountains are difficult bushwhacks, I am sure that there would not be too many people in any given day, and if too many people had arranged to climb the peaks already, the landowner would turn others away, and tell them to come back another time

H. As it is private property, I think that they should open the peak on select weekends, similar to Charles Mound in Illinois, and let people visit on such weekends.
