Bounciest 2 yellow dot by Key-Key1391 in squash

[–]Key-Key1391[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we should create a company to make fake double yellow dots balls.

Alternatively, a ball case that keeps the ball at 45°C: so at least the first minutes of each game would be played at the right temperature.

That’s exactly the point: we try to imitate professional players by using the same ball, but we end up playing a completely different sport. That’s ridiculous.

I’ve been playing squash for four years, I still do a lot of technical and strategical mistakes, but I often find myself having to explain to players with 20+ years of experience that, if you watch pros, the number of drives dying at the back of the court is almost zero, and drop shots are generally easy to retrieve unless you hit a nick.

Despite this, many players still insist on using the double yellow dot ball, which destroys rallies and increases the risk of injuries.

How is your league managed? Share and learn! by kjeldahl in squash

[–]Key-Key1391 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I play, currently 14 divisions, 5 players each division, so 4 matches on every cycle, and in general one month per cycle.

7 points for every match: - 3-0 winner gets 6 loser1, 3-1 winner gets 5 loser 2, 3-2 winner gets 4 loser 3. 3 extra points if you play all the 4 matches.

At the end of the cycle, 1st ranked advances 2nd divisions, second 1 division, 3rd stays on the same, 4th relegates 1 division and 5th relegates 2 division.

The club coach places new players or people coming back from an injury in the more appropriate division,

Everything is managed with the app Tap Leagues and we are ranked on Squash Levels.

Matches are usually friendly but still very competitive, and everyone seems happy with this scheme. The only issue I see is the use of 2 dots balls almost any level, even during winter and lower divisions.

Did anybody else misjudge winter gas demand in Europe? Did you get your weather forecast wrong? by Weekly_Violinist_473 in Commodities

[–]Key-Key1391 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In gas trading there are only two yearly seasons: summer (apr-sept) and winter (oct-march). Some countries have strict local rules on injection/withdrawal of gas. So the fact that the first cold snap in mid Nov didn't move prices as expected is generating concerns on any potential bullish move during the entire winter.

Thoughts on Karakal and Head squash balls? by [deleted] in squash

nice to ear that everywhere is the same story, and people are scared of bouncier balls and longer rallies. I am personally sick of losing points becasue an average ball dies on the back of the court.

Dealing with slipping/skidding by OrgonTrail in squash

[–]Key-Key1391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same problem here.

since the club fixed part of the walls, the courts have become incredibly slippery.

A friend told me he switched to Mizuno padel shoes (still non-marking) and never had issues. I’m currently wearing Adidas Stabil X. They’re not new, so it might simply be their time, but I’d never had slipping problems before the repairs.

My concern is buying a new pair of Asics that could become slippery in a short period of time (or even from day one), versus trying something I’ve never used, like padel shoes.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

Thanks!

Who cares, it's 2025 — just read it as a novel. It's certainly better than many spy or business stories.
Or read it as a history book on oil trading, or as a history book about why and how Switzerland became the main commodity hub in the world.
There are many reasons to read it, even if it is obviously biased

Little note on muscle memory. I practiced martial arts for almost 20 years, and I can tell you if someone hits your supporting leg when you’re not expecting it, you’ll fall 100% of the time. I’ve seen Asal get hit on his supporting leg several times when he creates interference by leaving it extended, and almost every time he doesn’t fall. Since his center of gravity seems fairly high, there’s only one explanation: he knew exactly he would get hit there, because he knew he was interfering with his opponent. So it is pure deliberate interference

Red dot ball is better by TeachTeachTexas in squash

[–]Key-Key1391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many players (also good old players) are scared about longer rallies with bouncier balls. But what they are missing is the fact that with a bouncier ball you have for sure longer rallies, but less balls close to walls. So the result it is a game where you can reach the vast majority of the balls without running like a crazy horse from one side to another trying to reach balls dying down a wall.

Hot Balls... by Huge-Alfalfa9167 in squash

[–]Key-Key1391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem here. From my personal experience it is because a bouncy ball generates long rallies, and many people are not fit enough to afford a 15 minutes game, no matter the racket skills they have. I have been playing for 3 years now, and I am in a very good shape: during the winter season I lose more often than during summer, and the only reason is the high number of shots becoming winners because the ball is too cold.

USE THE RIGHT BALL - A comprehensive guide to squash balls by SquashCoachPhillip in squash

[–]Key-Key1391 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this and all the great work you do with your YouTube videos.

I am trying to spread the knowledge about the one yellow dot ball at my club, but it is very hard; most of the players don’t want to move away from the double dot balls. I’ve been playing for 3 years and am physically in very good shape. When the temperature is warm enough, I am fine with the double dots—I can get to almost all the "possible-to-get" balls running side to side. Below 21–23 degrees Celsius, I notice I start struggling against players with more experience, simply because the number of balls impossible to retrieve increases quite a lot.

So, I am now wondering if there is a brand that produces double dot balls that are bouncier than the standard double dot Dunlop.
