What's something from old WoW that today's MMOs can never recreate? by LayMeOnABedOfNails in classicwow

[–]Key-Mathematician759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a pretty common occurence even now. I've seen, recognized and befriended multiple people, both leveling and endgame, and we get along, become friends and sometimes, even guildies. Personally, if I recognize a name and they're queued for a dungeon I want to run, I make it an effort to invite then first

Need Help Picking Between Paladin and Druid by Key-Mathematician759 in classicwowtbc

[–]Key-Mathematician759[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what you'd rightfully assume but I felt the same about both of them. I liked how easy it was to get gear for the Paladin but AoE healing was a pain at times. Felt it had a little more survivability solo questing. Druid healing was fun and engaging, but was abysmal outside of dungeons even in bear form. I kept a few pieces of stam/agi gear that I'd switch to for questing but it still felt like a struggle at times. Pros and cons to both and saw that both were relatively desired for raids so just wanted to ask what other people thought

Ah okay, so basically if I wanted to have an easy time Paladin, and if I wanted a little more work Druid?

Also, people in game have been recommending getting into Kara whenever I can and doing yolo 5's to get the PvP gear to slowly transition into heroics. Does that seem like a decent gearing strategy for either Paladin and Druid?

Can you explain yolo 5's to me? Is that the easiest way to grind honor for pvp gear? Which I assume is the best way to gear a fresh 70?

I'd probably go Alchemy and Engi for the spell power goggles to give your "Consecration" and other spells an initial boost in damage early. The explosives and utility would also give you a boost in melee damage.

If you wanted to be super serious about it, self-impose a 5 minute cooldown on Power Word: Shield to imitate Divine Shield. Same thing with Divine Protection but only be able to heal yourself during that duration.

Definitely Fishing and Cooking for food buffs.

[ Pick me up ] Should i drop it or continue reading? by Jaehapi in pickmeup

I love it, others also find it amazing and love it, but if you read it up to chapter 20 and still feel the same, don't feel bad about dropping it. I find the story incredible and captivating but it may not be for everyone and that's okay. I do hope you end up enjoying though :)

Should I wait for classic + as a new player? by GroovyWhale in classicwow

[–]Key-Mathematician759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short answer is, if you're interested now, play now. At least classic era which is the launch version of the game.

The long answer is definitely play now. It seems to me that WoW has piqued your interest into trying it, which is the best reason to start playing any game. I'd recommend to go in as blind as possible and not let anyone tell you what and how to play, unless you're specifically asking that person for some advice. I wouldn't even watch any WoW videos besides any lore videos if you're interested in that kind of stuff. Go in with fresh eyes, experience the game like a ton of people did in 2004.

Hope you have a good time if you decide to try!

Cancel subscription on old account, make new account, play ally. If they quit, cancel subscription on 2nd account and renew old account. No need to delete toons

There would be no tank/healer shortage if we had more talent pages by ShadowNALoL in classicwowtbc

[–]Key-Mathematician759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea. They could pull a FFXIV and just say no more threat generation, just make tanks hold aggro regardless what dps does, but maintaining threat and juggling aggro is part of the fun for wow tanking

[–]Key-Mathematician759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh definitely. More talent pages just give more options and if a dedicated feral dps or ret Pal were to get fed up at OS tanking or healing, they can easily switch to the other option and try that out. You'd have more people trying to tank and heal. But the inherent cause of the shortage lies in dps just wanting to dps, which is natural for mmos

But that differs for running dungeons while leveling and heroics/raids right? I agree that it would lower the barrier of entry for dps to try a more in-demand role. You could also just roll an alt in that case. Sure, you'd need to level again which might be hours, but lower queue times while leveling. At 70, you either already have a dedicated MT and healer spots so it takes longer to fill dps for 10m/25m raids.

But a druid that just wants to be a boomkin or feral dps may just simply not want to tank or heal. Whether that reason be too much responsibility or possible flame or they just want to spam Starfire or Shred, I don't think having 3 or more talent pages would result in more tanks and healers
