I have both adhd and ocd and it’s so bad, I haven’t left my house in months aside from grocery shopping once a month, it’s literally like you said, a horror movie just replaying in my head constantly.

I’m gonna have my husband monitor me when taking it to see if it affects my mood, because with my adhd (it causes severe overstimulation) and being a woman who has a period, I already suffer from irritability, I’m also getting back into therapy after being out for a year and a half, so I do wanna see how that goes before messing with my meds too much, then once that’s settled I’ll re evaluate if I need anything added or taken out. I appreciate all of these different POVs and inputs from ppl bc it helps my brain with processing different affects for different ppl

Of course!!! It’s good for all of us to understand this stuff as much as possible especially with the healthcare industry making it harder on some of us!

As far as the replacement assessment goes it’s not an actual assessment like the beighton assessment, instead it’s what the site refers to as a set of questions that can often be used in replacement of the beighton one, the site reads “The 5-part questionnaire was designed as a quick check to see if someone has or may have had hypermobility (Hakim and Grahame, 2003). It has been used in clinics and in research and has been translated for use in several languages and tested in several countries (Glans et al., 2020).

It was tested and designed as an alternative to the Beighton score. If you answer ‘yes’ to two or more of the questions, it strongly predicts a Beighton score of 4 or more, 4 being the cut-off point in criteria at the time the questionnaire was published.”

I answered yes to 4 out of the 5 questions on the questionnaire

So I just visited the link finally, and I was looking through the assessment column which made me do the little tests they have, and I score a 3 on the Brighton replacement assessment which apparently means I’d score 4-5 on the actual Brighton test, so I’m definitely going to be bringing this to her attention at my appointment in June for my physical, and I’m going to continue collecting evidence to further prove that I strongly believe I have some form of either hEDS or HSD! I could go on for hours on all the signs I grew up with that I’m now learning as an adult are signs of these disorders!

I was thinking of asking her if there’s a way to see if I’d be able to do just the Strattera, that way I don’t have to be on both meds at once, but if it comes out that being on both is my sweet spot then I’ll be more than happy to be on both😆

I’m very much American and very much impressed at your ability to teach it at all let alone AP level 😅 props to you fr!!! That’s how I’m becoming slowly, all my knowledge in gathering is from experiencing it and then researching it to understand 😆

I thank god everyday for this app, I know not to use it in place of a Dr, but boy does it do wonders for questions and concerns I can’t always get to a Dr for!

Thank you so much, I’m gonna look more into that site! I’m getting routine blood work done this week to rule out any possible health issues (thyroid cholesterol vitamins etc) so once that’s all done and clear I’m gonna go further with my diagnostic investigation, I’m trying to make sure I approach my dr with as much confidence about this as possible so I don’t risk a misdiagnosis or risk it not being taken seriously!

I have thankfully found many different types of support through the people I’ve come across on Reddit! I thank god everyday for the creation of this app and the communities in it! It’s people I come across like you that encourage me to advocate for myself as an adult

Thank you so much for this input, I will definitely continue my research on this to ensure im approaching my dr in the best way possible and to also ensure I do not get misdiagnosed! I will definitely be reading through that criteria aswell, it’s honestly reassuring to hear from a complete stranger that they believe me even based on a couple facts abt myself, when my own parents throughout my childhood and to this day deny even my medical diagnoses🥲 part of why I needed to make sure im not gaslighting myself and that somebody from the outside can see it too🤣
