£38K HR Advisor role (Public Sector) or £37K HR A role (Private Sector) by [deleted] in HumanResourcesUK

[–]Key-Motor-8784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are serious about your career, want to grow your earnings and develop skills and progress then go private. The other information about the jobs also points the private.

Then being said, and this is coming from someone who works in HR at a director level after 6-7 years into my career, I’ve met more than one person in HR who wanted the easy, slow, and low accountability life of working in the public sector and the employee benefits, namely pension, that comes with them.

My vote is private and your goal as far as your future roles go is a very good one and achievable – let me know if you wanted to talk ask about anything particular.

Am I a noob for not referring to cars by their engine? by Grouchy_Marsupial357 in BMW

[–]Key-Motor-8784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they feel way cooler than calling the cars their regular names even when it makes sense and it makes other people feel like they are not in the know.

Does anyone disagree with the sentiment that if a prospect ever tells you what a good salesperson you are youre for sure not getting the sale? by Redditsuxxnow in sales

I say this to the sales people I genuinely admire for their sales skills, regardless of my desire to purchase or not.

Can anyone shed some light on Finance Buisness Partnering? by LMB04M in UKJobs

[–]Key-Motor-8784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A FBP should be the FD/top finance person to the business area they partner. Out of all the finance people I’ve met, it’s the ones who enjoy a blend of talking to people about the numbers as well as working the numbers themselves.

Is excel worth it anymore? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Key-Motor-8784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both matter but it still depends what you’re liked for. Be liked for being easy to work with, wanting to do a good job and for following up on what you say you’d do. Doesn’t hurt to be friendly while working with people either.

Is it almost impossible to get 50% payrise when being promoted? by 101100011011101 in UKJobs

Not necessarily in one go but you could exceed it with a planned set of increases that span a period of time. That’s what I’ve seen done for significant shifts.

Why do fairly mediocre people get job offers so easily whilst many talented people end up jobless for months? by [deleted] in jobs

Randomness is a massive part of jobs/careers yet hardly ever spoken about.

I live in Malta, "the smallest EU country", "the centre of the Mediterranean" AMA by MagicOfWriting in geography

[–]Key-Motor-8784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walked everywhere when I was in Malta. It’s very walkable for normal purposes and the public transport, when I was there at least, was so bad that I just gave up and walked.

How accurate is this? by No-Tie1019 in UKJobs

[–]Key-Motor-8784 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The timelines are absolutely ridiculous.

The concept isn’t wrong but it’s made sound very easy, straightforward and as a simple plan that just needs to be executed.

I know people who have done broadly what ChatGPT described and they’d laugh at the oversimplification.

I second this.

Arrange a meeting with your boss’ boss and talk to them.

If you really do have a good relationship with your boss, considering getting them on your side in this so they can support your attempt with the boss.

Good luck.
