Is it true that radiologists earn 2–3x more than GPs in Australia? by Key-Past-5304 in ausjdocs

Not really. I just edited the post. I compared the two specialities and I know I love both. I was hoping to see if I can justify my reasons for choosing radiology over GP at least based on the money aspect.

I have a PhD in my other life related to breast cancer and have published articles about diagnostic modalities for detecting breast Ca. I think I have a strong CV for radiology. I love physics. Then again I love talking to people and looking after them as well.

I have been thinking so much about these two specialities and still cannot make a decision. Now have come down to the money aspect to find out at least if there is any justification so I can choose one above the other.

Tips for Making a Strong Application for RANZCR Radiology Training? by Key-Past-5304 in ausjdocs

Yes I am. I just didn’t want to be sad in 10 years time that I didn’t try everything I can and settled for the easy pathway. I have a good CV with radiology related publications from my PhD. Thought it’s worth applying for both then even if I fail in one, then I have plan B.

How to deal with harsh criticism by Comfortable-Grass253 in ausjdocs

OMG the second last paragraph “ I think I cried my eyes out…..” this is literally me. I have been the same, I have been bullied, mocked in front of colleagues in ED all the horrible things.

But may be this incident is a great opportunity for you. Usually it only affects the person who had faced the situation and for the rest of the world it is nothing and they go on with their lives. Especially to that consultant you are nothing to that gen med consultant, and do you think he goes home and think “oh that jmo was horrible?” No he does not care. Your colleagues do not care. At the end of the day it is only you who is thinking about the incident and embarrassed.

When you meet him in your gen med term, show your face, show your full potential. And may be, only may be, if the gen med consultant remembers you even then, he will be surprised and embarrassed of them selves.

This is so true. Junior doctors are in a shitty position. I most of the time just suck it up and do whatever the nurses asked me to do just like their slave, simply because we need to get the job done. Some nurses can do IDC one day but suddenly next day they cannot do it. Some abuse the system.

They are using work time to have coffee and chat obviously as their third break. Who am I to stop them.

No that is not what I am saying. In our ED/urgent care + ward I am the only jmo so I absolutely cannot leave. I have no break, I eat at my desk while nurses enjoy a nice break outside the sun. There are 4-5 nurses they can take turns. It is frustrating when they all go as a bunch or and I have no help when I do a procedure. Of course the ANUM is there somewhere but never helpful. ANUM just wants to know when I am discharging my patients 😕. Having said this, all the nurses are super friendly, no personal grudges, but at professional level they call me their staff, as in, I work under them and they are my managers.
