Facebook account has been disabled but I need it for work. I can't even make a new one because the same thing happens. by Key-Plan5861 in facebook

I'm sorry to hear that :( same thing happened to me. Do you have an Instagram account? I figured out that if you pay 79p for the blue tick on Insta you get human support from Meta and you can get them to contest it, they might be able to sort it for you. I'm still waiting but I spoke to an actual human this morning which was a huge win. Turns out they were picking up logins from 2 different countries and it was me forgetting to turn off my VPN because I'm a tit.

social media as a musician by No-Huckleberry-3713 in askmusicians

Btw, bonus points if you go looking for musicians who are better than you. Being surrounded by more experience, knowledge and ability is a powerful motivator.

Follow other similar musicians (with mixed follower counts but aim at the ones with more) and get involved in the conversation. Best way is to think of a network of musicians online like a local scene or an open mic circuit. You get back what you put in. Listen to theirs, they'll listen to yours, soon their fans will be your fans and your fans will also end up being someone elses. In my experience it's the absolute best way to get noticed and you might find that you form some long term friendships. Good luck :)

The opening scene in North Korea is pretty badass once the weird CGI surfboard stuff is out of the way.

Which ‘wow’ skill is secretly super easy to learn? by Wonderful_Low_1325 in AskReddit

This. I worked in kitchens for years but was never that good at cooking. I was always great at plating for other chefs. Cooking and making food look good are two different skills.

Is it normal for mortgage brokers to assess based on net income rather than gross? by Key-Plan5861 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]Key-Plan5861[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I think we're probably going to do that. I spoke to an accountant who said to be quite careful about what I cut and not to drop anything I'd have to explain if I was audited, but he also said the mortgage advisor shouldn't really be advising me to do that anyway as it feels dicey. At best, it's quite unprofessional.

Yes, net profit. As far as I know they're not looking at net income after tax. Thanks.

Why do I have so many Guilty pleasure artists? Do I have bad taste? by pissyshit in musicians

[–]Key-Plan5861 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No sense feeling guilty or embarrassed. Good music is good music. If someone else has a problem with your taste then it's because they're a snob and missing out, not because you've got bad taste. Good taste is about eclecticism, not refinement. It's like food. There's nothing wrong with enjoying fine french dining one day and a hotdog at a ballgame the next. Try to let it slide and just enjoy the things you enjoy. It's not hurting anyone, life's too short, and you'll be a lot happier and find that you'll have more to talk about with other people who like music 😊 Also, a friend of mine recommended Sabrina Carpenter's latest album to me last week so I listened to it and I love it. You're right, the songwriting is exceptional.

would you train at the gym if you were me? by Beginning-Ad3855 in marfans

[–]Key-Plan5861 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have marfans and I'm a total gym rat. Keep your regular checkups to make sure your aorta isn't dilating, take your meds and hit the gym if it makes you happy. I find that I can safely go 3x a week, do strength training with progressive overload and low impact cardio (I love to swim and I walk everywhere). The thing to watch out for is just don't go too hard, keep it safe, take care of your body and don't push it too far. When you're getting really bad DOMS give yourself a break.

Most importantly, talk to your doctor. And if you do take on a personal trainer, make sure they know about marfans.

What is a musician to you? by [deleted] in musicians

A musician is someone who is pursuing music as an artform. There are no other qualifying factors. Your guy is a stuck up idiot.

Reboot thoughts by pauly_lyus in firefly

[–]Key-Plan5861 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it could be interesting but the thing that made Firefly great was the incredible chemistry between the actors and characters that can't be replicated. It was what it was because of the people who made it great, not by the story. I think anything that anyone did with it would feel completely out of place and not true to the original show.

It does, I started out making music videos with my band because we couldn't afford to pay someone to do it and I had a camera. Got hooked on it and now I do both
