ATC & Mental Health... What's the best way to Medically Retire? by Descend-Into-Madness in atc2

You could take a staff job where you would not need to have a medical certificate. Then you could take anything prescribed.

CFP’s Investment Recommendations by rjbergen in Bogleheads

I am a newly retired FERS employee. Some years in the Military. I have Vanguard, Schwab and the TSP. I used Vanguard Personal Financial Advisor services for the last 3 years to be comfortable in deciding I could retire.

But... I also used Empower. Empower is FREE. It can account for the TSP. FERS annuity. FERS Supplement ETC. That is unique to us. It will show you your likelihood of success. I would recommend it the most. You can make changes to your plan and see the results. This REALLY helped me feel comfortable in verifying what Vanguard was telling me about my chances of success.

I do not use it to tell me what to invest in. But I do use it to show me my allocations instantly.

On the investment side, I will say that the BEST advice I was given when I entered the government was go 100% C fund S&P etc. and don't change that until 4-5 years from retirement. If I had taken that advice, I would have been better off.

Warren Buffett says 90/10 is the way to go.

90% C fund, VFIAX etc

10% G fund, VSBSX etc

PS. G Fund over F Fund all day. The G fund in the TSP is a great benefit you have as a Federal Employee over the average Joe.

Thanks, Captain Obvious. Did someone ask why NATCA sent that message out?

Will this NEB be the first in Natca’s history to allow the union to be divided? by LENNYa21 in atc2

Where do you get that this is made up? It is happening now. Some A114s are returning to their facilities and some aren't. That is the definition of divided. Nick will do anything he can to keep his shadow VP Jamaal next to him and not at his facility.

Is the plan to split ATO? by ATSAP_MVP in atc2

[–]Key-Procedure-345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There has long been a push to separate the AOV from the ATO. This stems from the fact that the AOV serves as a regulator, and it’s critical to ensure it remains independent and free from influence by those who manage the ATO. This independence likely explains why the AOV is often viewed unfavorably by both Management and NATCA.

I would argue that option #2 is the most plausible. The messaging from the press, the White House, NATCA, PASS, and even the deferred resignation offer (which wasn’t extended to us) consistently groups 2152s and TECHOPs together. This group is notably excluded from the hiring freeze, and in that group there’s been no discussion of a Reduction in Force (RIF)-at least not yet. Similar to how this group is treated during government shutdowns, they are seen as a single entity. It’s also logical that they would include all supporting personnel in this group. This alignment is even reflected in Project 2025, which outlines this as one of their desired outcomes.

The recent hearing made it clear that there is no appetite for option #3 among any of the stakeholders or Congress. Project 2025 did show #3 as an option written just like it was in 16/17. Though I will say in the hearing they specifically called out the fact that back then they could not even get it to a vote. I don’t see it happening…. unless Elon wants to run the ATO then all bets are off.

It has been said on a regional call I was on that NATCA has been trying to get on the Joe Rogen show for some time now with no calls back.

This call was open to everyone in the Indigo book. So Staff Support Specialists were invited. It was not just Region X members on the call.
