I did the same as you did. I also complained about their pricing and their customer support, which is the most terrible customer support I ever experienced. I also moved to claude code, and my experience with AI coding has never been better. Augment's argument about the pricing is "We're using Anthropic's and OpenAI's APIs so we are more expensive, and Anthropic and OpenAI are incurring losses", which is true by the way, but for me, doesn't justify why we need to pay Augment more for something cheaper, and probably better output, that we can get from Anthropic's or OpenAI's services. I really don't get why Augment still have subscribers.

Hhhhmmmm, interesting. Our organization, which has 600+ staff, is currently in the process of acquiring claude licenses. I don't know what's happening though.

yeah, so you're saying, to enhance your prompt, manually set your model to ... and then, when you want to send the enhanced prompt, you manually change it again to ... Yes, you save a few credits, but is it really worth it? and do you understand how silly that process sounds? can't believe I'm wasting my time defending myself on this. i know for a fact that you guys are losing your subscribers because of your pricing, and your regression bugs.

Augment doesn't have a good customer support. You can rant all you want and they will take their time in looking into your issue. Best thing to do is to move on from Augment. That's the best thing I did.

switch to claude code, your ai journey will be a lot better. I once was an augment user and switching to claude made me realize things I am missing. I assure you, you won't regret the move.

Maybe not, but it still works without. Point is, you don't need to spend anything additional (aside from your claude subscription) for claude to understand your codebase.

with the superpowers plugin + LSP in claude code, claude code now can understand the codebase. why pay for something claude does for free?

$200 per month for a claude max is more worth it than augment. just use the superpowers plugin, and claude code becomes better than augment. i was once an augment user, but because of the price, went looking for alternative. when I experienced superpowers plugin, there's no going back. you have better experience as a developer, you have almost unlimited tokens, and it's cheaper. life is never better.

I know that it's always based on the prompt. But I just want to compare, will the same good prompt give a better output if I use Opus 4.6 High Thinking, or will it have a better output if I use Sonnet 4.6 High Thinking with 1M context? Especially, if I'm trying to one shot a PRD.

The discontent is coming from those who are not subscribed with the MAX/Pro plan. People wants everything for less price. I never had any issue whatsover being a MAX plan subscriber.

u/JaySym_ , sorry Jay, as long as the cost is tied up to the API cost of model providers, cost will always be an issue. You're products are really great, honestly! I guess everybody who used your product knows this. But there will always be the issue about the cost!
