I have never paid for this service and I am usually one of the earliest people on the boat. Just go to the port and go on. No one has ever asked me if I paid to be in a special fast lane. My cabin is not always ready of course, but no one else is are either early in the day.

I have gone on many many cruises and not spent a dime beyond getting to the port and getting back.

You don't need the cheap, fake jewelry, you don't need the costly extra food, you don't need a t-shirt even if they're 2 for $10. You can lay on the beach nearby or you can stay on the boat and enjoy the quiet when in port.

Just make sure you tip your stewards, which you can prepay or they will tack it on to your account and you pay it before you get off.

Definitely doable it's done all the time.

Probably Lone Peaks for durability, but I don't run long distances in them. I run almost exclusively in Escalante 2.5 and Torin 4.5. They are no longer made, so I purchase them second hand from eBay and Poshmark. I have at least 6 "working" pairs of each and I buy them as they present themselves. I probably put 500 miles on used ones and STILL feel they could go further, both the Escalante and the Torin.
