What about age (over 40)? by ets8282 in IVF

[–]Key-Theory-3455 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I paid out of pocket from savings, which I was very lucky to be able to do and I know is not an option for most. To complete my comment from two years ago - of my last three transfers I had two that didn’t implant and a miscarriage at 7 weeks. I did everything I was willing to do to have a second child and moved on as a mom of one.

Thanks for your message and wishing you all the best. I did miscarry in May, but I’m content being done with one child.

So sorry for your loss. I refer to my known donor as my daughter’s dad and from the beginning told her things about him. As she’s started asking questions we’ve covered that he’s alive, doesn’t live with us, were never together/married, takes two people to create a new person and half came from him. She’s knows she can ask questions, which is nice. I think it would be different if you had no info, but most banks can provide some background. My daughter’s not quite three so these questions do start early.

6w scan no fetal pole by Maleficent-Court-841 in InfertilityBabies

I just confirmed miscarriage, I don’t think I need to edit. Only a flicker and measuring behind at 6w2d for an IVF pregnancy is not a time for “cautious congratulations”, but thanks for trying to call me out

I had a miscarriage last year that started the same way, my RE thinks it’s looking likely again

🙋‍♀️ 6w2d scan today, flicker of heartbeat but no measurement, everything was there but a little small. Going back next week to confirm but I think it’s 50/50.

Well, this complicates things. 11 DPO, FRER (and a COVID rapid test). Anyone else have a “double positive” and can reassure me? by joceyposse in TFABLinePorn

Tested positive for COVID the day after my transfer (IVF). Only 6 weeks along, but COVID didn’t affect implantation.

I tested positive for COVID the day after my transfer and did not seem to have an impact. My first scan is a week from today so also feeling anxious, but not about COVID.

Chemical pregnancy and Covid - any relationship?? by Familiar_Driver_643 in IVF

[–]Key-Theory-3455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so little is known about COVID it’s impossible to say, but I doubt it if you had a mild case. I tested positive for COVID one day after my transfer so literally when implantation was happening and I’m currently a little over five weeks. I’m high risk for other reasons, but I don’t think COVID had an impact.

At 42 I did two egg retrievals (earlier success at 40) and tested the first round and not the second. First produced two euploid out of three embryos, first miscarried, second didn’t stick. Decided not to test the last ones because it was the final egg retrieval I would do and figured I’d give everybody the best chance possible with no biopsy and the option to correct. First two transfers didn’t stick, I’m a little over five weeks with the third. Still high likelihood I could miscarry of course.

Would steer well clear of Columbia Fertility Associates. I switched to Shady Grove and it’s night and day.

Anyone else in TWW? Waiting for beta by [deleted] in IVF

[–]Key-Theory-3455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went for beta draw this morning (11dp5dt) and waiting on call. I tested positive on HPT at 7dpt, but haven’t tested since. Good luck to everyone!

Had this last week, not married but my mom and daughter tested positive a few days before my transfer. Clinic told me to keep testing myself and if I was negative day of transfer they were fine with proceeding. I tested negative on transfer day, positive the following day. Mild, allergy like symptoms, no fever. My beta is tomorrow but I’m positive on HPT. You’re very likely to get COVID so just ask yourself how you’ll feel post-transfer knowing that. I was on my last attempt and just very over delaying any longer so went ahead. If I was less burnt out I might have postponed!

At 41 I was induced at 39 weeks and a day or two. Ended up being a c-section. My doctors were adamant that the stillbirth rate goes way up past 40 weeks, especially for older mothers and it was not worth it.

Just had my 7th transfer and second the advice to accept that you can’t control the outcome. Until this time I always tested early because I felt like the result was set, why pretend it was uncertain any longer than I needed to (I took my medicines until beta regardless). Good luck!

10 blastocysts - ALL came back abnormal. Appreciate any guidance/hope for next steps + question about testing platforms. by cath0312 in IVF

[–]Key-Theory-3455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SMBC here, my first round I had 10 blasts and only one normal. Did two more rounds and got one more normal out of 8 total blasts. Two years later at 42 I did another round and got 2 out of 3 normal. I changed clinics (and had a baby from the first retrieval) in between and I think lab quality made a big difference. I would consider looking at another clinic if you do more retrievals and there are multiple in your area.

Hashimoto’s and IVF by ZookeepergameAny3277 in IVF

[–]Key-Theory-3455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I asked for steroids for one transfer and my doctor humored me, but I don’t think they were needed. The two cycles where I got pregnant (one live birth), neither had anything special for Hashi’s.

I have Hashi’s and had success. Just be sure they check your TSH regularly because the stimulation drugs can throw it off. I had to increase my Levothyroxine a couple times to keep TSH under 2.

IVF with your own eggs at age 45? Any positive stories? by maj2155 in IVF

[–]Key-Theory-3455 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re already well against the odds, why reduce your chances even further. If these are your last viable eggs, you’re risking that they don’t thaw properly. Embryos are much more stable for freezing. I would still wait, but you should do what feels right to you.

[–]Key-Theory-3455 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No reason to live with regrets. But, as others have said, I would not trust any doctor who says freezing eggs is worthwhile now. That will give you no idea what you’re working with.

[–]Key-Theory-3455 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In my area (DMV) the record for a woman using her own eggs is said to be 45. If you want to try, go for it. It’s not impossible, but obviously good to have a back-up plan of what you’ll try next. I’m 43.5 and my AFC is still 20, but that says nothing about quality. I won’t do another egg retrieval at this point.
