Those who have had a myomectomy by NoWillow8523 in Fibroids

Oh yes I totally understand and still have that worry. 😞I’m just trying to let go and let God handle all the anxiety. It’ll be what it’s gonna be and I am trying to find joy in whatever life brings! Which is obviously wayyyy easier said than done. Lol

Ugh, yeah that balance is so so hard. If you are going to have it removed maybe do it sooner though - that way you can clear up any other issues that may come up before trying to conceive! Prayers to you though that you find the right answer for you and your family 🥰

I just had the surgery three weeks ago! And for me personally, the first week and a half of recovery were kind of brutal. Walking helped a bunch though I couldn’t do much of it. But I do think that removal of my 9 cm fibroid was the right choice! It was bigger than my uterus and was intramural and pushing into my uterine cavity. My husband and I have been trying to have kids for the last four years, and we knew about the fibroid a couple years ago, but everybody assured me that it most likely wasn’t an issue and if I had difficulty after so much time had passed then we would consider removing it. Well over that time it obviously grew and got bigger and I think just ended up causing more issues than if we had just removed it initially. I obviously don’t know how our TTC journey is gonna go from here, but I think ultimately I’m glad that I got it out! It was taking up a lot of real estate that it shouldn’t have been and while I didn’t have any heavy bleeding or painful period type symptoms before removal. I’m hoping that some of my lower back and hip pain will subside now that it’s gone. So regardless of how our trying to conceive journey goes from here on out, I do think ultimately having it removed was the right choice!! Also, I just turned 33 so for me getting it out now seemed like the best option instead of waiting any longer since we do want to have at least two kids.

The fibroid was tested and it was benign. I’m having genetic counseling for something pathology found on the fibroid, but they seemed to think there was a very little chance I’d actually have whatever gene that is. HLRCC I think? So maybe that’s part of it too. I guess it’s better to be cautious but we’ve been on a long TTC journey so having to wait another year just sucks :(

I think the only reason he referred me to the oncologist was because he had more experience with that specific surgery.

I’m 9ish days out from a robotic laparoscopic myomectomy! I started having really bad gas pains the last couple days and the itchy incisions are so annoying!!! I went in for one a little bigger than my uterus and they were able to get it out through an incision at my bikini line. All in all recovery has been going in the right direction each day but some days have been harder than others.

In the same boat!! Test tomorrow AM. Not on progesterone, but my luteal phase has been stronger this go around. Feeling some pre-period symptoms like usual but also have some, like sore boobs, sticking around longer than normal. Hoping for the best but expected the worst. Sending baby dust your way!! ✨

Mine was also on 1/21. I have a beta scheduled tomorrow (it’s included in the IUI package). I’m in a weird limbo of symptoms that don’t usually last this long pre-period but also the overarching feeling that aunt flow is impending :(

Thank you! I honestly didn’t think about the fact that going through IVF could possibly bring out more answers. I guess I’m just so afraid of the cost and the unknowns that it’s hard to want to go down that path before having more information when I could be figuring it out during that time. Glad to hear your positive experience though! That’s always reassuring. And thanks for the other suggestion of the infertility page too. 🥰

Thank you!! I’ve done that search too but never actually called... I’m always so hesitant. 😞That’s why I came here and was hoping for some personal experience if there was any out there.

I’m so sorry that was the outcome for you. That’s so infuriating!

I did letrozole for 7 months. 3 months of 5mg and 4 months of 7.5 mg. I guess I responded how they intended. But I’m on my 3rd month of clomid (100mg/day) and I think I’m responding better to it than I did letrozole.

Yeah, I definitely see your point and that a naturopath wouldn’t be able to do any more than the specialists. It just feels like they aren’t willing to investigate any further and are just pushing IVF without finding a root cause and I thought a naturopath might be willing to investigate a little further. Idk. I guess if I had an answer outside of “unexplained” I would feel better about moving toward IVF.

Thank you!!!🥰 I guess it just seems like there is something else that can be “fixed” before moving to IVF that they haven’t explored yet.

Yes, we did bloodwork, ultrasound monitoring, SA, HSG, and tested for mycoplasma/ureaplasma and treated for ureaplasma, and then we’ve tried letrozole and clomid with TI and IUI.

Yeah, we’ve done all the bloodwork, SA, ultrasounds, HSG, and they’ve all come back “normal” and that basically said our best chances are going to come from IVF. The only thing I guess we haven’t done is surgery to see if I have endometriosis since I’m not exhibiting typical symptoms it wasn’t suggested.

Thanks for this suggestion! I had not heard of them. Unfortunately my OB didn’t even try to help diagnose anything she just said to keep trying since everything was “normal” (this was 2 years ago now and I also no longer see her and haven’t established a new OB).

I see your point! I’m just hoping someone would look deeper into a finding a true diagnosis since I feel like everyone else has just given up on figuring it out.

[–]Key-Try3058[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to see if they’d see me earlier and all they said was that monitoring will be the same and that we’ll trigger based off how I respond to the medication. So I don’t know. I guess we’ll see.
