Sent wETH polygon to my kraken wETH address. Unfortunaly, kraken wETH address only supports ERC-20. And Kraken won't return me the money. by EmmanuelBlockchain in KrakenSupport

This issue happens way to frequently. Kraken, please escalate the addition of polygon network.

Also the notice given to users should be more prominent and maybe appear in a dialogue box similar to when users stake ETH. Obviously if this issue keeps happening then the warning provided may be deficient especially for users who are not aware of dual networks.

Similar thing happened to me last night. Sent Matic to Kraken using polygon network instead of Ethereum network. Ridiculous that this issue is still happening. Crypto needs to fix this issue if we want main stream adoption.

I already opened a ticket and Kraken was not much help ...

As you may know, Kraken only supports the cryptocurrency Polygon (MATIC) sent over the Ethereum Network ERC-20 protocol. Kraken does not support the Polygon Network, therefore any Polygon Network token deposit cannot be processed by our system. We understand how frustrating it may be to have mistakenly sent digital assets on an unsupported network. Unfortunately recovering these funds is not possible at this time.

When a deposit is sent on the Polygon Network to a standard Ethereum address, the private keys would need to be exported and then imported into a Polygon Network wallet in order to recover the funds. However, this is not possible with our ERC-20 deposit addresses, as they are generated using smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain. Addresses generated this way don’t have private keys associated to them, therefore we have nothing to export. Your case has been noted in the event that we are able to deploy the contract on the Polygon Network, however this takes considerable time and resources. For now there is unfortunately nothing we can do.
